Session Zero: Curse of Strahd ###### Action Items

  • [ ] DM to share Dropbox with campaign maps
  • [ ] Group to finalize scheduling (every other week, start time - 2pm works for everyone)
  • [ ] Players to complete any remaining character sheet details before next session

###### Character Introductions Grae (Gnome Arcane Trickster Rogue) - A completely deadpan, emotionless character who was kicked out of the temple of Garl Glittergold (god of laughter and trickery) for being unable to laugh or show any emotion. Seeking to learn how to laugh so they can return to the temple. Character is grayscale in appearance. Jables (Paladin) - Inspired by Jack Black, charismatic character who picked up Gray at a tavern and is trying to make them laugh. Considering Oath of Devotion or Vengeance. Iriadel (Dampir/Aasimar) - A half-vampire, half-celestial outcast with an uneasy feeling about their situation. Joined the party because the others didn't hate them. ###### Character Creation Discussion The session focused heavily on character creation mechanics, including background selection, spell choices, and equipment. Key discussions included:

  • Magic Initiate feat - Multiple characters took this, with extensive discussion about cantrip selection (Toll of the Dead, Thaumaturgy, Mending, Produce Flame mentioned)
  • Background options - Players discussed Acolyte, Entertainer, and the special "Haunted One" background available for this gothic horror campaign
  • Languages and proficiencies - The party collectively knows many languages including Draconic, with discussion of how proficiency bonuses work
  • Dice mechanics - DM explained D100 rolling and basic dice mechanics for newer players

###### Campaign Setup and Resources The DM shared information about campaign resources and previous sessions:

  • This campaign uses high-quality digitally remastered maps that fans created for Curse of Strahd
  • The group uses D&D Beyond with shared content purchased by Eric so all players can access materials
  • Discussion of dice collections, including loaded dice jokes and a D100 die shaped like a golf ball
  • Brief mentions of previous campaigns including Planescape Torment and a Star Wars homebrew

###### Initial Gameplay: Entering Barovia The Approach - The party found themselves on a road in beautiful mountains and woods, but noticed fog creeping behind them and an eerie silence (no birds or animals). The fog followed at a consistent distance, preventing retreat. The Gate - They reached massive double doors with decapitated statues, slightly ajar. Gray used Detect Magic but sensed nothing unusual. As they entered, the doors closed behind them and fog enveloped the entrance. The Village - Walking through black pools of water and muddy roads with giant trees looming overhead, they reached the outskirts of a small, lifeless village. The fog opened up to reveal a specific house. ###### Meeting Rose and Thorne Two children appeared in front of the house - Rose (age 10) and Thorne (age 7, crying and clutching a stuffed animal). They claimed:

  • There's a monster chained in their house basement
  • Their parents (Gustav and Elizabeth) have been gone for a long time
  • Their baby brother Walter is in the third floor nursery
  • They hear the monster screaming (though the party heard nothing)

The party was immediately suspicious, with perception checks revealing something "off" about the children, though they appeared real. ###### Exploring the House First Floor - Grand foyer with ornate wood paneling showing vines, flowers, nymphs, and satyrs - but with serpents and skulls hidden in the designs. A longsword hung above the fireplace. Second Floor - Covered in cobwebs and ash, appearing abandoned for a long time despite the children claiming to live there. The party found:

  • A family portrait 50-60 years old showing parents with Rose, Thorne, and baby Walter - the children looked identical to those outside, even down to the stuffed animal
  • Master bedroom with rotting tiger skin rug and dusty four-poster bed
  • Vanity with jewelry box containing gold rings and platinum necklace with topaz pendant
  • Sweet floral perfume scent despite the decay

The party realized something was very wrong - the house's age (50-60 years of decay) didn't match the children's appearance. The Nursery - Following the perfume scent, Iradel opened a door to find a nursery with:

  • Stained glass door leading to a balcony surrounded by fog
  • The children had disappeared from outside (only Jables' lute remained on the ground)
  • A single unlit lamp and a crib covered with a black shroud
  • Inside the crib: a baby-sized bundle wrapped in black cloth

###### The Specter Appears As Jables used their greatsword to poke the bundle, a spectral woman manifested behind the party, saying "Don't touch my baby" and preparing to attack. The session ended on this cliffhanger with initiative about to be rolled.

Grace and Travis are having coffee for you guys want a water coffee or anything else? You brought your own water? Water would be amazing. Okay. Thank you. You said something about manual. You said there's a PDF version. Is it something I can just look online and download? So yes, let me, or do you have discord on that? I do not because I just don't even really use it. Easiest way and or you could probably email it to him. You can just go to adventure.vadej.com. Yes, there you go. Vadej, V-A-D-E-J. Yes. Yes. E-J. E-J. Oh, yeah, yeah, okay. And then .anythingelse.com. And that is a searchable version. So whatever you want to look up at any point, and then you can also, there's a navigation on the side and below. Yes. Yes, thank you. If you scroll down, 2024 is below it, and then there's two expansions. I know virtually nothing about how to actually play. I have watched like bits and pieces of some sessions online, and I have watched That's the example of knowledge. See, I haven't watched Stranger Things. It's funny that you're not the first person to bring that up. That was me like a year or two ago. It's also me even though I built the searchable on your handbook. That's part of why I built it. I was like, I'm going to need to be able to look stuff up. I will not know the answer. If you want to send any of those my way, feel free. I'll add them to the repository. We have a huge Dropbox. You can put a lot of this stuff on. I'll just show you the Dropbox with you. Hell yeah. Yes, yes. You said you were a paladin, yes? What is your name? That's the only thing I haven't done. I'm figuring out the name. I have an idea, but I can't figure out. I can't pin it down. Which is crazy, because it's a human. I can't get it. I can't get it. A human paladin. I know, right? Okay. The only thing I will request is if you can formulate what your character would look like. And send that to me before the end of today. I like to custom make the files and print them to be guys. It's what those two are right there as well. That is Travis in the red and that's another character in the blue. I did, there's like programs you can go on with like really awesome free records, but I did like slightly model those, which is nice. Which is very nice. Questions you have, Austin, feel free. What about me? What if I got questions? I know you'll ask me questions. Of course, of course.

  • It's always really fun. A bit more complex. Very, very fun. - Thank you. - You can have a lot of fun with the martial classes as well. Some of them do javelin magic.
  • So when I was using the D&D Beyond, it didn't have Danfyr as an option.
  • Yes, because that's a-- - Expansion.
  • Yeah. - So I just picked one that was close enough to keep my lore similar enough to feel good.

You can also manually add it to kind of quests or racial bonuses you can do as well. You can drag it down on the sheet. Okay. What is that again? It's half vampire. Well, half undead. That is so appropriate. You know this guy made Curse of Stride. It's a vampire campaign. I did not know that. Actually when I just decided to go there, right? This is called cursed strut. It's one of the more well-known D&D campaigns, but it is like a gothic horror campaign a lot of fun I'm very much looking forward to it. Okay. I'm used to like running Travis knows some very kind of a Lot of campaigns tend to be linear. I have done the opposite and this one is a Very nice, because it is linear, but it also has a nice little environment that is good to roam. That's kind of what I had in my head. I just was like, I had a thing in my head, and I was like, I want to make sure that I'm thinking along the same lines. So yeah, this works great, because I've been using Gray Man and gray-related things for a lot of stuff, and it's all gray. You're going to see a lot of fucking gray in this campaign. Yeah, I just clicked on it. Twin? And you're also using Notion. I mean, I literally just... - Clicked on whatever.

  • Oh, oh, that's my notion.

Okay, that makes way more sense. - Because everyone clicks on your stuff and says, "I have no idea what this even is." - Yes.

  • Yeah, so Notion's a note-taking app, but it allows you to publish stuff so that you can access it on the web. So the 2026 OCR that I did, Because Grace was kind enough to lend me her book for like a month because I kept getting distracted by other things. It was all there, like in order. And then I chunked it and then created the semantic search for that.

Yeah. I just honestly like I don't even know anything about the classes that are available like I some of them like I kind of recognize but I don't know the particulars about stuff. So I can walk you through the classes very briefly. I had in my head that along with the name I tend to use things involving just like gray man is like a usual thing that I have and in my head I had it that it would be some sort of like disguising, stealthy kind of guy. Literally just, I'm gray. I fit into the background and you can't find me. You would probably, that sounds like Rogue. That was my thought. And yeah, that's like Rogue was kind of what I was thinking would be it, but I haven't looked into any of the details. Rogue is a lot of fun. Rogue is a lot of fun. In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with the anti-glasses, but like Rogue, and in particular Arcane Trickster Rogue, Like a rogue that specializes in a lot of illusion magic and especially sneaky sneakers and stuff. Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. Like I've literally, my thought was going along the lines of just being like, like I said, like gray, like just being able to kind of blend into the background and not be distinct. So rogue, dexterous, expert, and stealth and subterfuge. So, you know, you'll get some like sneak attack, It's been a while. So you get stuff like sneak attack, like you'll get extra damage on your like, when you're dealing damage if you're already stealthy. You get like different kinds of weapon mastery with like daggers. You guys, we'll start as level one. Which is hilarious in itself. Level one, you're kind of always one Arab to the chest away from dying. I've seen it. Oh, I've seen it. But who knows? Maybe that won't happen. Maybe I'll be just fine. I saw the health that I had. I was like... Did you have like 12? 10. I have not smoked very much today. I'm about to load a freshie. I'm trying to get rid of that. There you go. I was like, I feel like one good hit could take me out. You want to hit this? Yeah. Yeah. I'll just take it out like that. Pull the room too hard. Is there a button I have to press? I still have. There's an amount of this one. I don't know. I'm hoping to not use much more of it today and use the rest of it at the show I'm going to. But I would like to also get another couple because I've got a stacked couple of months coming up. I think I'm doing six shows in the next two months. You caught me in a lucky position because typically when I get them I use them all but I have like, I think Travis sees the cup I have on my desk of them. Um... Somebody brought some goodies? I'm really bad at finishing them. Yummy. She got snacks too. So there's snacks in the kitchen. Thank you. But I also have three ones that I haven't touched yet if you wanted any number of them. I like Snack Up Cool. And I think I still owe you money for the last couple times. I trust your judgment on that. - I told him. - I already wrote that out.

  • I'm pretty sure the last couple of times have also been like you've come over and you started tripping soon after. So I'm pretty sure Eddie thought of paying for things and just kind of disappeared immediately.
  • Exactly.
  • Yes, he smashes psychedelics in one piece and you forget all about the, I forget all about it too, that you smoke so much.
  • That's a dangerous combination for sure.
  • It is.

Eventually Travis and I will start watching One Piece again. It's been like three weeks. I'm telling you, when y'all get to Wano, take action. I've already seen everything up to episode 850. So you're just taking him up. 12 hours. I'm crying. But we tripped in like peak Wano. So we got in weekend like peak Wano. During the fight where he beats Kaido and like actually gear 5 for the first time. Okay, that'd be pretty cool. And you get to see like the trippiest episode where he's literally dancing in the rain. Is this a whole episode? I would be pissed if I wasn't tripping on you. That was the plan the whole time. They know their place. He knows. He knows. Yeah, I've been nice to Travis. I haven't made him watch Boss Luffy or, you know, those asides. Michael never skips fillers. I remember one time I suggested it on a show that Moki and I had already watched twice. I don't remember what show it was, but it was like, he was like, I was like, it's cool, man. I'll watch it. It's fine. It's fine. You know? Just throwing it out there. Yeah, looking through... I haven't seen him in ages. I think it's definitely going to be a rogue. That's really good because Travis is healing and physical damage. You're good healing and magical damage. And then you're good... Well, rogues are a good source of utility, but you're more damage-focused than... I don't know. Did you think about the subclass? I haven't got that far back. Hey, that's level 3 code. Thank you. Yeah, I haven't done any subclass research, I'll be honest with you. You don't have to. I just, I always do. I also don't, I don't have a problem with this game. That's something I might want to think about regarding backstory, though. Stuff like that, because I can factor into things. Is one of them vengeance? Of course it is. Of course one of them is vengeance. You got any of your backstory book out? No. Well, yes and no, but no. What happened? Like, skeleton outline? General direction? I don't know. What are you? I'm just trying to get a lay of the land. Get a lay of the land. God, this blog is so huge.

  • You're still toying with ideas.
  • I definitely like the idea of doing magic along with my stuff.
  • He said that's fine, he said you just said I like it.
  • Sorry. - I would still. You're good.

Your best friend will be reading. Reading and asking questions. The amount of reading I fucking do only to realize I read it wrong is astounding still after playing for like six years now. There's just so much to it, which is awesome because there's so much depth and flexibility. Exactly. There's a lot of interpretation. But it's a lot to know or find out when you need to find it out. I understand. I'm so salty because in one of our other games, I drive down to Oklahoma. Oh, sorry. No, I walked around. I could have taken it. One of my new friends... Have you met Eric? I have talked to him in Discord a couple times. So, Eric DMs a game down in Oklahoma. And he's a fucking... Sometimes I'm a fucker. I love Eric to death, but he's also... He's incurred my wrath on multiple occasions. He... It's actually my character's fault because I failed a bunch of these wisdom saving throws. I failed three actually. You only had to pass two of them. I failed all three of them. And he's like, okay, well, the enemy takes total and complete control over your body and tells you to kill your friends. And I look around at the table and I'm like, guys, you ought to put me down. Because I was the sorcerer of the party and that's just like straight. All right, bonus action fireball. Action fireball. But, uh... It was a session where we've never had everyone take apart the mechanics of every single action I was taking, because invisibility is a thing and holding your action is a thing. So he literally-- they grilled me so hard about invisibility that Eric changed how he did it in the middle of a fucking turn because of how pissed off everyone was getting. Tensions have never been that high when Eric fucking had me start putting people down. But it's like one of those things where we knew exactly how it worked, but it's just like when you really got down to the degree of it, invisibility is kind of bullshit. We have a lot of homebrew rules and things that we've established in our own tables. I won't be taking you through any of that this time, because I usually take people through at least one vanilla before I start throwing extra mechanics on top of it. He's experienced some of those. I don't mind a little homebrew if you feel it. If you're feeling frisky. I'm going to give you at least a few sessions. Normally. Yeah, right, right. I just meant, you know. In general? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm taking them all through space right now. Pretty much a homebrew space adventure campaign. That's pretty cool. That's why he's been printing me ships and stuff. It's been torture. But... cough The amount of work I've given myself. What's the next- should I be making another one? Yes. Okay, I'll text you later. It's not like a rush, but... Yes. burp Right, 'cause I pulled it. So this is... cough Pure white batter stuff from... Gemma? What's up, dude? Chillin'? You know it. What's up, Austin? What's up, Travis? Chillin', man. You've been doing some scrimm-scrimm with Alec? Scrimm-scrimmin'? Gotta keep him away from the Edgemen. He doesn't have an eye-mail, does he? I don't think so. When he used to joke and make the gun noise, it was his chair. Discord. That's on you. Yeah. You're gonna wanna pack it. I'll pack it. I'll put it on my shirt. Thank you. I fucking hate this word. Yeah, just for sharing stuff about this, if we're going to use it, or if we can use something else. Just saying, I'm hosting an alternative. We could use that. We could. Just throwing it out there, you know, people are open to it. All right, so I'm looking through like the or rogue traits and some of the features and stuff trying to figure stuff out about what's going on yep i was looking through it says to choose four of the skill proficiencies is that the thing so i think it's like a list so skill proficiencies choose for acrobatics athletics okay yeah so yes so you choose four out of that list and if you go to the character sheet You should see your core stats, like dexterity and all that good stuff. These skills will fall underneath them. Hopefully in your character sheet on D&D Beyond it's organized in a way that makes sense. Yeah, I was wondering if there's anything special I needed to check off on any of this, on the character preferences. Those are your rules, right, Bruce? The first page? The first page, it's like all of this stuff. That's why I stopped, because I saw this and I was like, I don't know what any of this means or what needs to be included, so... So, turn off the homebrew. Oh, I left that shit on. You're fine. It kind of just bogs it up. You want the core rules, you want the expanded rules, you want to turn that off. By the expanded rules. Legacy, non-core, yep. Nope. Yes. Are you going to resume right now? optional class features. Don't worry about the advancements. What about the origin part? Oh yeah, if you want to customize your origin, you can do that. Might as well. So the hit point time. There's two ways that you can determine technically your core stats and your hit points. In fact, I was going to talk to you guys about that too. I don't know if you've already chosen your array. So there's standard array, which is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. Or you roll. I did standard array. You did standard array. Standard array is the normal thing to do. If you're unhinged, you can sit here and roll. Do you ever do the point by system or no? No. I've thought about it, but no. I was just curious. If you want to take the average of your hit dice per level, that's the same thing. If you want to declare that every single level when you level up, you either take the average of your hit dice or you roll. One more time? So like every level, like you have how much health now? Ten. So you'll gain more health. I don't know if I should be telling the DM how much health I have. I know, I'm kidding. If you wanted to roll for your hit dice or take your average, you have to declare that when you first start. So like you can roll maximum or you can roll one. Average is what? Oh, OK. So it's face-dive and hit-dice. Which is a 1D8. So do you want to roll for your hit-dice, Austin, or do you want to take the average? Roll. That's what that means. I usually take the average. I'm average. Yeah, I'm just going to take that. Whatever makes it easier. So fixed? Yes. Fixed. Multiclass requirements? Yep. Show level scale spells? Yeah, go ahead. Use encumbrance? That won't matter for this, but yes. Ignore coin weight, yes. Modifiers, what are the options there? Scores, Tom. Oh, I think that's just the arrangement of the one there, so that's fine. And then, yeah, I can't do it. Okay, so that's fine. All right, I think that's everything on the first page. And now you should get to go. It's funny that we typically don't let people roll because our nephew Barrett has had two campaigns where he hasn't started below a 15 with one stack. That's crazy. How did he roll that high though? That's crazy. We watched him do it. We watched him do it. Those kind of roles I have to like watch you do not because I don't trust you just because yeah Oh, no. Yeah, why can't you do that cash it night rain? I don't even bring it up to me anymore. I'm going to Fucker into the night with two fucking items Two items I got that when I didn't have friends I You played an entire game and said nothing. I just noticed it when we were like going into the final boss and I was looking at all that shit and I'm like, dude's over here. You have two items and he says they all have trash stats. He's like, these are the only ones I use. He says something. Say something! But... Big boy lives. That's another game. Big boy lives. Also, like, some stats is better than no stats, even if they're trash. Is there something that... Yeah. What those proficiencies specifically are, because I've chosen some based specifically on... Do you want to read my initial flavor text while he's reading this? Did you write it? Collaboratively. Collaboratively? I don't do anything myself these days, Travis. I'm just curious, you know? It was a rough draft anyway, you know, so it's like... This is what I want put into the text. Say, I want to see what's around me. I'll make you make perception checks, and so you add higher bonuses to that. Insight is telling if someone is lying or being dishonest to you. Stealth is pretty straightforward, trying to hide, be stealthy. You said sleight of hand? Yeah, sleight of hand. That one's going to be really important. That's doing stuff like picking locks, being dexterous, robbing someone. What was another one you said? I got perception, insight, stealth, and flight. So those four would give you more proficiency in those areas. So it's pretty straightforward. Insight was the only one that we kind of fucked up at the beginning because it's like, it's your ability to like receive like lies. No notes. Where am I supposed to go? But it's actually the intelligence to discern illusions. Okay, so it's... No notes on my no notes? I'm looking for notes on how to note stuff. I've never been a note... Anything that you feel like doesn't fit with... That's not how I got that far either. No. Just going through basic stuff. I'm playing a campaign with Nicolas Cage. Yeah, this isn't that off the wall. As long as stuff isn't, you know... This is how it is because it is because it says so. Close. I'm fucking zooted. 86. - Usually like going, I think, halfway because they get a lot of very interesting stuff.

  • Okay. I'm just gonna cotton.
  • These guys are also Aasimar. They're both Aasimar, which is funny that it's in these species. It wasn't always.
  • How about Aasimars? - Mm-hmm. - Again, they used to be the extra.
  • Now they're right there. They're the first fuckin' race.
  • Well, AA.

Yeah, yeah, Goliath. A-A-Ron. A-A-Ron. Yeah, that was the one that I had to fake. There's another A-A-Ron. Yeah, here is another one. That's what this guy is, too. That was unusual. We went in to buy Grace's laptop. She's wearing this hoodie. She's got them right now. Make your own sugar, be your own daddy, right? And all this stuff, and so... I think I've already decided that a used product would be better for her. She's an excellent person. That's for productivity. When he comes back out, dude, he's got somebody on with him. See, that might work. I haven't gone down to looking at that. I mean, I'm a good person. That's what you think. You get advantage on saves, ranks, your grades. You can move through a space-time creature that is larger than you and you are small. So almost all creatures are larger than you. Max Friedman is part of the friends group because Knightsman is. Yeah, yes, that's the Knightsman. So when you roll a 1 on a d20, you can re-roll the dice and you have to re-roll. - That man, that man is just so much more tense.

  • So there's like, On a D20, there's like critical failures and critical successes. When you roll the nat 20, it's kind of like you get a best case scenario kind of roll. And the nat 1 is the emphasis. So like, happens, can't, I guess critically fail. Unless you roll two nat 1s in a row.

But it was like next to me, I'm like a manager. Like, hello, manager? And of course, the naturally stealthy. Take hide action even when you are scared. But they preach it. Microsite is an interesting place. Which it sounds like both of them are. 15, 20 minutes. And that also is part of it. I need to start actually just going down on this. She was doing it one by one. Do you want me to give you the number? I'm still way behind. I haven't even picked my expertise. I'm jumping around by looking at other things. Let me pick which two I want to start with expertise in. I think it's going to be stealth and sleight of hand. Maybe... I'm trying to think. I don't do stealth and perception actually. I'm going to start with that. Are you still smoking cigarettes, Charlie? Yes, ma'am. Okay, I'll get you an ashtray on that. Oh, thanks. So I need to pick one other thing. Do you need to review my character sheet to see if I missed anything or made any errors? Sure. I trust your judgment, but I would like to... You're Reddell, okay? AC-11. What kind of armor do you have? Light. Leather armor? I'm trying to think, what's your dex? It's only a plus one, okay, that action might be... Leather armor gives you 11 plus your dex modifier, so your IC should actually be 12 instead of 11. Which isn't too much higher, but every single point matters. Oh, so it didn't automatically update for that? I'm not sure. Because you might not have the armor equipped. Oh, maybe not. Because it's just in my inventory right now, I think. Yeah, certain items and armors you have to actually go and, like, toggle. That's probably what that is. That happens to the best of us. Yeah, personal favorite. You gotta have them herbs, man. Yeah, you know what? Fuck ton of languages. Yeah. Nothing wrong with that. It just kept telling me to pick languages. I was like, okay. Sure. I was gonna say, oh, you know, I'm looking between gnome and halfling. Those are both good things. I need to... Does that look right? Just enable them like that? I don't use D&D Beyond. I know you don't. But yes, it does. I have never seen that screen, but yes. If my backpack isn't checked, does that mean I don't have my backpack on? Maybe. Check it. Yes. Okay. So that only matters if we were using, like, encumbrance. It matters specifically if we were using... Because I could leave my backpack at the hotel. Yeah. And you can't, like, have... Or whatever. The inn. A full set of armor in your backpack and not be encumbered, but... But I can. Yes. No. No, you can't. You're having a bag of holding. We do that, but I don't nickel and dime you like, all right, you're at 100 pounds here. You're encumbered. Because that would fucking suck. Skyrim style? Yes. You pick up one too many flowers. We've had 100 pounds of meat on this before and none of it was questioned, so somewhat. I mean, 100 pounds of meat, you find the strength, you know? There's several people you carry. You figure it out. So now it's telling me 14 actually, Grace, instead of armor class. That makes more sense. Yes. It shouldn't be 11. I also put on my shield. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Because like 11 would make more sense if you were a sorcerer. Because that's the fucking struggle. How did you get a magic initiate for you? I think that was... Acemar. It's part of your Acemar species traits? I believe so. That's fucking sick. What? You just get the cleric magic initiate? Let me double check that. What? Oh god. Acemar is more powerful than I thought. Yeah, I was looking into why people don't, like, play it as much. They gave it a lot of love in 5.5E. Apparently, it wasn't always like this. We were just kind of there. Maxis the first level spells at level one you have to level one spell to yeah, do you? Do you know you have prepared? I don't recall. It looks like you have every single spell that you would have access to at level one here. I thought I had selected some, but I may not have. Let me see if I can find that spells. You probably have a few. I can hand you the sheet back in and kind of look through them, but it's probably better for you to be able to pull up the... This is what I'm seeing on D&D. Okay, yeah. Then you do have preparers bills, yes. It doesn't show you on here, so I wanted to make sure. That's also something. I appreciate that, because Travis also said the same thing. I was like, I swear I picked them. Who did that fuck over last session? Was it... Who I wanted? Oh, did you want to see them? Since you didn't see them earlier. There we are. Their group up in... Oklahoma kept someone stable by shoving good berries up their ass. I believe it. They've gone into a magical coma, yes. They were in a coma. Oh my God. They needed to be sustained. Do you want to go ahead and pin that one into a four? I can do that. I was just planning on using, because I'm already going to have my iPad anyway. I just wanted to have something tangible with me so that I could like, Right scratch nets or whatever. Glad we did it. I can 11 ACs rough. Especially with 10 health. That extra 3 is the difference between the life and fucking death. Yes. Still just slowly going through things trying to figure out what things even are. So now I know I'm at the point where I'm choosing an origin in the D&D Beyond thing. I dig that. Did you choose between, or which one did you choose, GNOME or Capsule? I ended up going with GNOME, but that's actually number three, but I decided that because I wanted to choose my languages, and I wanted to make sure that that made sense. Second grade? Yeah. So I have no idea about that. Yeah, no, take your time. Take your time. Let me know if you got any questions. I'm thinking about just breaking down and going with Jables. Jables. Jables, my boy. Jables. What's the inspiration for Jables? It's better that you don't know, honestly. Because you do know. You've probably seen the movie. You're gonna look it up, you cheater. You cheater.

  • Within roughly six feet of me.
  • There's one under the table right here. I can probably.

Not that old yet, Grace. You know, I had to offer. I had to offer. Appreciate it. Since you've looked it up, they'll also give you an idea of what he looks like. Yes. A paladin. A paladin. A paladin. I wonder if he had a name in... Hold on. And... yes, I'm going to do it. Eddie Riggs - Yeah, I like that name better. Yeah, did you ever play Brutal Legend? That sounds familiar. It was a game where the main character was voiced by Jack Black, but he was named Eddie Riggs in that game. But he looked a lot like Jack Black because he was voiced by Jack Black. And he was a dude that played guitar and swung axes and killed demons and shit. Good stuff. It's good stuff. This one's still going. You really do it though. This thing might be on its last legs. The button almost doesn't work anymore. You have to hit it in exactly the right spot and put a lot of pressure on it. Damn. I think that phone's still going too. It is. It is. - So the very top of the list that I may end up just leaving. There's a lot of good options. Good backgrounds. I think I want to do... I want to do something that ties into the magic and the gods that are related to the rooms that it talks about on the page. I want to do something related to that if I can for the background. But I can't find anything that specifically jumps out except for... So that seems kind of close. Is that living in a service of a temple, formed rights in honor of a god or pantheon, studied, or whatever, or something like that. So I feel like I was a devotee to a specific one of those gods. I don't know anything about any of them, though. The gods are pretty cool. As far as the gods of an arcane trickster, it would all depend on your alignment. Since you aren't shneevle. That's a 4.25. Love you, love. I was having a hard time figuring out how I wanted to plan some of my things and being Jack Black really helped. Being Jack Black really helped. It's good inspiration. I had to change my instrument because it was a viol and they don't have a guitar. But they have the lute, you know. It's basically old guitars. You can flavor it as an electric lute. Okay, I'm going to go with the light for my background, I guess. Excellent. What does that give you? Let's see. Nothing. I did these boys a solid because I went entertainer. So in long rests and short rests, I can use my musical instrument to play a song and give a number of allies up to my proficiency heroic inspiration. That's really it. And since I'm a human, I can give myself heroic inspiration. Don't gotta rely on you to give me inspiration. I'm kidding because I won't be you. No, I know. I don't even hate it, you know? Because every now and then you get it, and then it's like, I did something. I did something. So it looks like I get one choice. It gives me religion, and then I get one other choice. And it gives me a bunch of stuff. I see Arcana listed on there, and I think I want that based on a lot of the magic stuff that I want to do. I want to give myself as good of a chance of... - Yeah, more jerk stuff.

  • Yeah, religious and our final would be two very good ones and interesting ones. I've run especially in aesthetic.
  • And it gives me magic initiative as a feat.
  • I also should tell you guys that you have access to one, I don't know if it's gonna give you access to this is, there's like a special background called the haunted.

I'm probably not going to dab, no offense to that. I will dab, I will dab. Sunset OG or Green Crab? Or Green Crab? Yeah. I like both of those. I don't know, what are you feeling? What are you... Oh, there's a little bit of both in there already. I've got this in my hand, so I guess I'll just go with this one. That's what that puts in your hand. It's the Sunset OG. Oh, yeah. This one's a more... Yeah, the only reason I'm saying no is because I have to work when I get home. Somewhat functional. - Particularly slow in my setup today. - How dare you. - Background.

  • So that's a cool background.
  • Is that haunted?
  • The internet's a scary place. Haunted one, I think might help you out.
  • Yes.
  • No. - Yes.

You want to share with the class? I'll find a better place to read it, Fred. Spelled out one, O-N-E? Yeah. Because I don't want to just read the AI overview out and then say I have a bunch of shit that's wrong across three different versions. I actually have it right here. So essentially your background is unique. You're haunted by something so terrible you dare not speak of it. You try to bury it and run away with no avail. So essentially it gives you a little bit more gothic flavor to this gothic war campaign. You choose one out of Arcana Investigation, Religion, Survival, one Exotic Language, a Monster Hunters Pack, which is a unique equipment, one Trinket of Special Significance. So what the Monster Hunters Pack is a chest, a crowbar, a hammer, three wooden stakes, a holy symbol, a flask of holy water, a set of manacles, a steel mirror, a flask of oil, and tender rocks and their treasures. Yes. Wooden Stakes. It doesn't say much. And Woolly Water. This is a vampire entertainment. I know. That was my problem. I don't know if Strahd goes to 20. I don't want to find out before I play it. But the two oaths I was between. It's Vengeance. Which is awesome. And then I forget the other one. It's Wrath or something. But at level 20 your aura... Produces sunlight Which is pretty handy around vampires. You want me to tell you? No, I don't want you to tell me. That's the problem. Is that the problem? Uh-huh. I could have already looked it up. Is that in some facet? Well, I have plans. They differ. What edition is that background? I'm just curious. It's 5E, so you might actually have to go back to your character sheet and re-click the 5E and list the content. I'm not planning on using it. I was just wanting to read it. Yeah, no, it's there, though. Cool. I actually left everything selected when I was doing that. I was like, oh, this is, I assumed it was your rules. And I was like, cool, she's already pre-populated. It's also because I think Eric is bot. This is Eric's, like... campaign because we give him money to buy because these stupid greedy motherfuckers like even if you buy the books you have to buy to access the content of your character sheets like on dnd beyond you have to buy it like visually as well because they just want your money and they suck so we like we've given him money to buy a bunch of the shit so that when we do these campaigns he goes to the mail all the content available to everybody that's pretty nifty dnd beyond yeah I was trying to make a character builder. I didn't have to use it, but it did not get finished in time. I tried to use the one that Travis gave me, but I had a little bit of difficult time getting the scripts to run. I just didn't have time to fiddle with it. for sure next time okay i have no idea what mine is definitely had this one and when i chose the arcana part and now it's like underneath that magic initiate stuff i just don't know what any of this is trying to tell me I've tried, like, I can't even find quick Google that explains that well enough. So, the two cantrips? Yeah, what is a cantrip? So, a cantrip is essentially an at-will spell. So, come down here and you'll be able to actually choose these cantrips. Okay, I also tried looking for these and I don't know where to find just a nice easy list of those exact ones. So... Do I just search them individually in the list here, I guess? It should be right... There. So are you at just on D&D Beyond? Yeah, do I just have to search them individually? That's kind of annoying. It'd be nice to just like have that explain each of these here. It's not designed for beginners. Oh, does it actually? Okay, yeah. It's just that's a lot of clicking. I'm one of those people, I prefer less clicking if I can. If you were... It's going to take a while for me to go through all these and figure everything out. But I've been looking through... I'm trying to look through a bunch of reading stuff that end up not being part of the show, so it's not relevant to what I'm looking at here. you Let me know if you got any questions. It isn't, unfortunately, the most beginner-friendly website. It is not. It is not. What's the future to you and the cricket? Light on yours as well, which is a good one. Yeah, light, produce flame, sacred flame, spare the dying, and thorn wood. Those are good ones. It sucks because if you were the cleric, you would have a list of all your cantrips and be able to read what they are. You had the option of preparing the cantrips and shit like that, which sucks. They don't give you that when you take it through an origin feed. Bastards. At least a lot of the cantrips are pretty self-explanatory. That just sounds nasty. Toll of the Dead. Toll of the Dead. That one is good. D12, 30 damage, which is a lot of damage for a cantrip. Oh, cool. That works with what I want as well, the Thaumaturgy. It's basically just like distraction illusion kind of thing. What fighting style do you normally take for Paladin, or do you normally just do Blessed Warrior? I've never been a Okay. I have looked at it though. The idea of bending down. Mending is funny. Very, very good in a lot of situations. Because I'm trying to be sneaky and I feel like that could be extremely useful for sneaking. So I might actually not use the pull of the dead. I might skip that one. I might do mending and amateur duty. I think you get mage hand as well by default whenever you become an arcane trickster. Yeah, I haven't gotten to choosing the specifics of that yet. We'll get there. Yeah. We'll get there. So... You don't have a PDF online anyway, do you? It's on the next slide. I can send you the link.

  • The player's handbook?
  • Mm-hmm.
  • What do you wanna know? - It's just easier looking up spell lists, you know, when, and-- - At least they do a way better job in this player's handbook and they have the spells you would know next to the character, whereas in the last one they were all like bunched in the back. Pelton's spell list is 112. - Oh no, it's just, uh.

Not the paladin spells that I'm looking for, sadly. Really? Yeah. You only get level 5 as a paladin? Shit. They do paladins dirty in a couple of ways. You don't get 8 cantrips. I know. That's part of why they suggest going Blessed Warrior, which is a fighting style. They only offer paladins, and it's because you get to use 2 cleric cantrips. If you do that, then all three of you will have cleric cantrips. Which is funny. It is. It's strange. The Cleric Magic Initiate? Um, yeah. Strange. Good, but strange. Even on these fucking wikis, they only... Paul's going to take Detective Magic. Only got half of them fucking explained. That one's good. That one's funny. Do you get level one spells? Or do you get spells? I get one with the magic initiate. It's two punches, one level one spell. Hilarious. free type option. So there is. Stop right there. Trying to decide between Garl Glittergold or Fire of Arklow's Shadow being like the god that I follow. I will 100% fix that. Yeah, Oath of Devotion was the other one that I was thinking of. Because at level 20, you can imbue your aura with holy power, granting the benefits below for 10 minutes, yada yada. But of those, one of them is a holy ward. It also does radiant damage, and the aura is filled with bright light that is sunlight. Bright light! It'd be cool to walk into a bunch of vampires and be like, "Right, right." Oh-ho! It'd be ironic to, uh... be a worshipper of... gargoyle glitter gold as a person known as Grey. Maybe that's why I'm not still in the, uh... still in the monastery or whatever. Or town board or whatever it is. Thank you. What is your character's name, Joe? Actually, no, I saw him. Iridel. I need to get like tiny little, hello, my name is blank cards for the table. Oh yeah, I actually really like this because a lot of the description makes it extremely ironic for... I'm gonna be kind of like... dead cam a little bit as well. I'm just gonna go all out on the gray thing. And a lot of Garg Littergold's thing is about wit and jokes and... There's a whole ritual on the 13th of the month where they hold a communion of laughter and everything. So I think I'm a four. I like that. I like that. It kicked me out because I couldn't remember. They kicked me out for being too great. I'm going to make painting a mini very easy. I'm going to go with modest because that's the middle option. Just leave your mini like several tones of gray.

  • Gray and maybe some white here and there for things, yeah.
  • That would be hilarious. That would be hilarious.
  • I'm a gnome, so how tall should I be? What's average you're gonna be?
  • I mean, when I was reading about halfling, you were small and that's two to three feet tall. So.
  • Between three and four feet, so I'm gonna be exactly three and a half feet tall.

Three and a half goddamn feet tall. How tall are you as an ASMR? Six feet tall? I'm shorty. Five two. Really? Yeah. I'm going like a, you know, was never accepted type. So kind of like. Off the beaten... You're like the black sheep kind of ASMR. Right. You might have a tall party. No, because Jack Black is a tall guy. All the good, all the better for... Is this about to be a short gig? Oh. I didn't say he was short. I said he wasn't tall. I just made the connection. Jack Black, tables. That's his name in the pick of destiny. Yeah. I don't know why I didn't think of that when you said it the first time. I also was like, oh. I knew what this was. The drugs were getting to me. I was too sober. That was my problem. The bong started waking you up to it. The bong of destiny. The bong of destiny. So if I considered an adult at around age 40, if I considered an old breast at 150, - It should be like what? I listen 23, but that's aesthetically It's a lot of aging Like 170 years or something like that. 160 years. And if you fail to save, it ages you up until like a week. Until you naturally die. That's crazy. I remember he only was saved by the fact that his character was immune to aging. That was Amelia. Was it Amelia? That was Amelia. Amelia got saved by that. Because Amelia, as a high-level druid, you can give yourself immunity to things that would alter your form and age you forcibly. Brian, no. Oh no. That's right. Brian didn't have that bonus. That's right. He was a bard. And in that instance, he gives you a lot of debuffs. A lot. I mean... Age is just a number until... Until it's a week before your death. So it's giving me a section for the personality characters. I imagine you had that cast on you and you did the change. Oh my god.

  • Yeah, okay. - That's a really good point. - Which I think I'm actually gonna do a little bit in there.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like a specific mechanic or anything, so it's just, you know, spot on.

  • I forget what that spell's called, but whenever it's, like when someone fails, they should almost have to roll a D-100 to see if their character, like, unbeknownst to them, naturally had D&D brain cancer and was gonna die in a month or so anyway, you know?
  • Oh no. You know what I'm saying? Because it's like natural death. It's specified.

That is a natural death. Brain cancer is you killing yourself. Brain cancer. No. Brain cancer is going to be no. You can get a player's brain cancer and use you. Bye-bye, Dom. There's always new things that we're discovering when we're playing. Like people asking if they have brain cancer. You know, like we're discussing mechanics I've never even considered all the time. All the time. I remember reading it, but how do you roll a D100? I have a D100. Oh, you actually have one? Yeah. Okay. I'll show you. I do. And you can also roll. Do you guys have dice? I have some. Yeah. Mmm, dude. Richard brought me my glasses, which I'll wear them. I definitely didn't AI generate that. No. I would say... There's two 10s. Definitely AI generate that, but... So, like, that would have been a 17. Okay. That's what I thought, because... Yeah, so one is the 10s. Yeah, and then to get a 100 would have to be... Do you have that, Austin? Maybe? Good news? I believe so. Yeah, yeah. That would make sense. Probably not the kind that I need. I need to dig around. I have a bunch of random dice that I got with. Good news. I have a bunch of dice that you can use. Yeah, because you can't get a zero. I'll show you guys. I'll show you guys. Could you imagine? Oh, my God. I'd have already rolled it. I wouldn't have to imagine. You'd live in it. Choose from any of those guys if you want some early guys. These things have been waiting so long to be used. Those D4s just ask to be stepped on. You know what I mean? We'll take you with it. I know. They're like the Legos? Scoot over. Those are fucking caltrops with numbers. Without a doubt. I only have a few guys. I just got this bag. I will let you gaze upon the dice that will determine your fate. Where's your big old de hundo? It's pretty crazy. It is. It really is. It's just a bolt. In fact, I'll show you the newest set I got. The fact that it's all flat sides is crazy to me. When it stops, you have to like look. Yeah. Bring out the like compass. I've seen it roll a hundo though. It's cut from a gemstone. It's a... I gaze upon it. It's loaded. I think someone did witness it roll. No, it was my other new set of dice. Also, pink is shady. But it rolled two nat 20s back to back. And then I picked it up and I rolled a nat 20. And then they were questioning me whether it's loaded. I'm like, it's not loaded. It's a piece of shit. Loaded with good vibes. Exactly. It rolls exactly what it needs to roll. I'm sure you all come to acquire mini dice. This is the way. That's crazy. That's insane. I'm sure you guys know. Oh yeah, this is the one. The glitter ones? Yeah. All the glitter. That one is the next one. I don't know if you've seen that one, but... I'm just kidding, it's not the coffee dice. No. Coffee dice? Yeah, she's got coffee dice. Yeah, I have... These are my pink dice, and I have an entire, like, five sets of coffee pink dice. All loaded, you know? Those are the ones. Every single one of them. I've been asked not to use them. I'll bust them out whenever I want to, but I like looking at the pink ones, which-- Yeah. I know, I just finally finished filling out all of the stuff on the background. I wanted to write down my notes on stuff in there too, in case I don't have this laptop with me, my other notes on it when I come back. Yep. Notes, notes, notes. I need to be better about taking notes as a player. I'm the worst. The worst. I have a ton of notes actually from my other campaign because I've been trying to get better about it. There's just always someone else going to write it down, and then you get really high, and you're like, oh, I haven't been writing anything down. But first off, I think this is Tracon, you know, which I still have to give you some stuff for him, but it's okay. It's okay, we'll worry about that later. That's Lorde. That's other campaigns. I'm gonna be totally honest, I'm not entirely certain what I should be doing right now. In terms of what? Engaging with the... Oh, and you did all the stuff that I do now already, so... You're doing good. The session zero is normally at least... Someone's normally at least making the character from scratch. Yes. Yes. But I'm pretty sure Austin's not too far from being done yet. You've chosen class, race, most of your background stuff. You're Stata Ray? All that's really left is abilities and equipment. There you go. And then-- You've made the hard choices. It's just chores now. And then if y'all want to decide whether or not you guys have like a-- or tell me how you guys met each other, because you would be in a scenario where you would know each other. You would be relatively familiar with each other. And then I'll give you more context when we actually begin. I'm gonna know a lot of languages. It seems like you're not the only one who's gonna know a lot of fucking languages out here. Cause y'all know languages. We're just gonna be able to talk to everyone. I'm the only one who doesn't know that many languages. It's fine. You speak the third most Italian. I don't speak any Italian. Like I said. Nice. Nice. Small people. Racist. Gotta love that movie. You know it's about time to rewatch it. Seems like every couple years, you know? Who knew? I do have one language y'all don't know. I got Draconic. I have Draconic. You have Draconic? You have Dwarvish? No. Get out of here. Get out of here. I wasn't the language that I thought. 14, 13, 14, 8. Let me see if I can find that list real quick. Your dex is your highest. What's going to be your most important step? Grace was making fun of my notes from the last campaign. Was I? Yeah, you were making fun of my drawings. You don't remember making fun of it? I don't. I remember. I remember. Lord. I usually never have constitution as a low stat, because whenever you make those rolls, it's usually... - Pretty fucking important.

  • So can you just pick whatever number out of those numbers? - Yeah. - Yeah, and you just assign them to whatever you want instead of rolling. - So I want to make sure you get the highest, yeah. - It should automatically-- - I wanna be very intelligent too. I want my guy to be like really smart, but just like deadpan, zero emotion, what kind of deal? - We all look too dead. - Constitution, what is constitution?

Your ability to withstand things like... Okay, so that's like basically endurance. And it determines your health score in a way. Well, on the time of the little thing. Unfortunately, it's not going to be very high. What about wisdom? It's like your perception. I think I'm not going to have very much charisma. Where is languages on the character sheet? For me, it's up here. Under proficiencies, okay. Keywords should be similar at least. What do you think of this? Does it make sense? I want to be... You've got a paladin in the party, so you've got someone with high charisma. As long as your constitution doesn't have a negative modifier, you're fine. Charisma, it sounds like your buddies will have that in check, so that's good. There it is. And there, the opportunities later on for you to add more points into these stats. You said dwarvish, right? That's when I said no? Yeah. But you still have the opportunity to roll decently, but you'll... I mean, it makes sense. Decent selection? I think some of those are granted to me. Basically not really any equity in there. Just kind of like race class. I know the... I can always speak to animals, right? In a way, it fits into the gray thing because you just completely... He's very blank in every way possible. So that adds to that as well. So that kind of... That's going to have zero charisma. He's the kind of guy that like when you've got... - Yeah, the dramatic. - Yeah, I'm gonna love that. But definitely, I love the role play.

  • That's a nice equipment.

DC-15 would be what? If you're... If you roll... Huh? It's, um... Others can spot the hidden message that druids can leave in druidic with a successful DC-15 intelligence investigation check. So, over here, under this... I forget what the... Under the skills category, the investigation... goes off of your intelligence bonus see my hands eight because i'm you know paladin so i got a minus one to it and i'm also not proficient in it so i don't get to add my proficiency bonus so like if i rolled for it boom i'd have just got a three because you get minus one to roll but i get plus one to my roll there right yeah Exactly. And then so like if you're proficient in it as well, you add your proficiency bonus. Which our proficiency bonus is two at level one. It'll go up as we level. I forget what it is. If you are, you can be doubly proficient in something. It's like called an expert in it instead of proficient. And you get double proficiency bonus. And that's one that, yeah. So when you say if you have a proficiency... That little button as we go. The filled in bullet point. Oh, okay, okay. That's why those are plus five and plus three. That's because it's automatically adding this one. Right. Okay. So I just get the plus one because of my int, because I'm not proficient at it. And I get minus. And I get minus on it. Nothing? Nothing? You'll have an eight and something. Strength. That doesn't apply to anything. Athletics. Oh, athletics. Yeah, it's minus one. And there's going to be one more. I only see one. Is it just athletics? It is. It is just athletics. Because acrobatics is dense. Strength is the only one that has just one. Carry me, senpai. That's better than my one though. This is my second highest stat. My strength and my con are both 14. I want wisdom for my highest. Yeah, my charisma is at 17 right now. Mine's at 10, so. So we can talk to anyone, but you are convincing them. They love the Jack Black. I don't know what this guy's saying, but I like it. cough So I got my character sheet totally put together, but now... I'm not going to be chaotic good. Because I have to be good. It doesn't work out well. Yeah, I want chaotic good. Or just chose it. Yeah, you're good. That makes us a good pair. And I don't think I could make J.B.'s waffle. That doesn't work. No. I can't rip the bottom of the rest of your waffle. Listen, sometimes the law isn't what's deetic. Right, exactly. Is that our common string? Is that we just, none of us actually believe in the law? Is that what you want to say? You are whatever you say you are, right? Well, and then, so, like, you, you, you have, what's your cleric, don't you have, you have magic initiated from being a celestial, that's what it is. And then... Are you still taking the Acolyte background? Yeah. That actually begs the question, so if I did want to, like, just, you know, like, slap Dampier on this, is it replacing Acemer? Because Acemer is a humanoid, so they could be caught between life and death. Damn period. Exactly. I'll pull it up for you. They were in the Van Richten's Guide to Ravenclaw. We just burped. Cash, I'll fix it. ...arise from encounters with vampires, all manners of recovery, bargains, necromantic influences, encounters with serious immortals, might have changed the character of the board and the tables of justice. I guess since it's five and a half. Oh my god. This is funnily enough, like, you've picked something that's going to be really interesting in this campaign. And yes. Yes, I can just laugh about it. I can be both. Dampir ASMR. You could. What benefits are you getting from Dampir? Dampir has Spider Walk. I have the notes. You can, for flavor-wise, be both, but as far as the benefits you gain from that race, you have to pick one. If you want to gain the dampier benefits or the ASMR benefits. But you can be flavor-wise and dampier and ASMR, because I think that's hilarious. Because if the dampier is spider climb, the dampier is bite. Yeah. Probably would want to stick with ASMR. The move speed though. Can I get the move speed? No. But I'm a half vampire. You are, but you're also a half celestial. Okay. Which gives you the ability to naturally heal, right? Can we divide the difference? No. Bargaining? Bargaining? powerful in their own way. Can't blame a guy for trying. You can always do that. I did go into my inventory on the page and put things so that they're actually, like, effective. Yeah, excellent. And now when you go back to your main page, you should see your AC be what it needs to be. And then your weapons should appear as your, like, actions. So you can, like, look at them right there instead of having to go to your sheet in the back. Although you will be navigating all over that sheet. So does anyone have any other character related questions? It is 7:42. I do have things prepared. We want to go ahead and hop right in if everyone's ready to do a little bit of intro stuff. I do have an intro that will take you guys to three before going into the campaign at large. Oh, fucking Christ. I'm dying, that is. Ew. What if I did die? Would I then be more undead and therefore have... Because technically, how do you kill an undead? You would no longer be undead, you would be dead dead. That's how you kill an undead. We need to pick a couple of different kinds of anything. D20s are important. You'll need a D20, a D12, two D10s, which you'll look for the ones that have like a zero or like two digits and then one digit. And that'll be your D100, your good old D6s, D8s, and then D4s. That should have pretty much all of them in there. Yeah, I just have no idea what I should do. I don't use dice for anything. So if you pour them all out, I'll walk you through them. Oh, yeah. So you said... Yeah, in fact, there's going to be one that looks like this that has two digits on there. Like a zero in it or another. 12. So when you roll these two together, that is the same as rolling that golf ball that you saw. And then there's your B20. That's your bread and butter. D12, the next smallest one. You roll this for damage more often. Like a train.

  • I didn't even miss your set.
  • Oh yeah. The white ones?
  • Yeah, the white and the gold.
  • Yeah, that's funny. I have another, I have a Zach set in here that's white and gold. You might be able to find a bunch of white and gold in there, right? Or in here?
  • Yeah, I'm looking this way. I like this one.

Oh, you might have a deep voice. What all do I need again? Sorry. Uh, D12. D20. You got two D20s, which is good. You'll need to roll quite a few of those. You need one more of these bad boys, and then a D8. I'll just take this one with the zeros on it. Yeah. And you said a D8? D8. Thank you. So many guys, so little time. That was awesome, Ari, actually. Because it's a, it's like a coffee dice. Because I bought like a cream and sugar dice and one of them is like the white dice with gold and the other one is brown. It's amazing. It's an amazing dice. I'll use this one. Yeah. Do you like that set? This will work. I think there's a whole set of like the suspended skull. That is pretty cool. It's a little hard to read though. Trust me, once you get the bug, you'll be buying some dice. There's so many cool fucking dice out there. It's crazy. That covers all of it except for the regular ear. Yeah. There you go. Yeah, I'll just use this little set. I guess I've got one cover. It's funny, these ones glow in the dark. Would you be rolling dice in the dark? I'm not happy yet. If you're using black dice, that would be a good game to wear. It would make sense. If you're rolling the dark stuff, you'd be carrying a black dice. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. That's Tearsprite, by the way. Take a look. You guys take a look through my... I don't know if I should move my laptop on there. It might be too heavy. Yeah, we'll have food pretty much every time. I'm going to sit now. Every week. Finally done getting through the character stuff. Are we doing every week? We're doing every other week? Bride play... I just figured it was a good time to double check the plan. I thought it was every other time. Yeah, yeah. Would I play every Easter campaign? Yes, but that is a very quiet time for me. I know we had to do it at 6 today because Easter stuff, but if we need to do it earlier or a different time. Typically we start at 2. How does that work for everybody? That works perfectly. I don't know if I can do 2. Okay, I know you can't do that. I know you can't do that. 13. 13? Rookie numbers. For a rogue, it's not bad. No, for a rogue. No, for the first time in my life, I'm starting off with a high AC. I know. I know. My sorcerer right now has a 19 AC, but it's the first time I've, like, multi-classed a draconic fucking sorcerer with a warlock. A warlock. It's pretty fucking... It's pretty nice. Oh, menace. Detect magic, speak with animals. Gnome-ish lineage. You can also speak with animals. That's fine. I think you can too. He's a gnome. What's his charisma? About me? Low. What's his worst stab? That's exactly what I described. Nine. Nine. So really, we throw you in first with the three-leafed Italian. He's intelligent and dexterous. Butter them up. And then we can explain what you want. That's what it is. I always have strength as my dumb step.

  • It's basically a Jack Black movie. - 100%. - The whole deal behind my character is that he's gray. The whole thing about him is gray. He's vittled the ground completely and everything. No empathy, not really, no sense of humor. Deadpan pretty much the whole time, everything that happens to him. Basically, if he's got his arm chopped off, he's like, "Shit." Completely deadpan, that's it. Which makes it even funnier that he was a follower of Carl Glittergold, the whole laughing gnome god.

Which is why he got kicked out of this tournament. That looks good. That looks good. All right. I guess for right now we can use these three minis as y'all. This is just catching the start. No, no, no, no, no. She's like, all this work. I'm just going to wipe you today anyway. You're going to start all over. We'll see. I might not. I might not. She's going to try it. I'm going to try it. Have I killed you yet, Travis? I don't want to answer that question. I disintegrated him at least once. Yeah, but you had to kill everybody. I was about to say you were planned to die, so I don't count that. Like, what's it gonna do? It's going to stop the inevitable march of time. Maybe. That'd be cool. How's your relationship with your deity right now? I don't know. I don't have an oath yet. This is our starting map. I wonder what apps she uses to make her maps. Do what? I wonder what apps she uses to make her maps. It depends. Because some of them are just pictures and such. But then I know for one of the dungeons we did, there was actually like Someone had made the dungeon in a fucking other viewer and it was all 3D and everything. It was insane. Actually, it was this dungeon. Because I had to draw parts of the map for it. These are all just, this was the big ass room. As it is. Athlete's names. Are those like to scale? No. Guestimate. It started on grid paper, so it was all in my head to grid paper scale. It's entirely reasonable. As long as you can, you know, visualize it too. I was gonna eventually-- I was asking Travis, but since you're back, how do you-- where do you usually get your maps? Um, there's a lot of places. Oftentimes when I'm doing like-- when I'm reading stuff, I'll screenshot and use the maps. I've made my own maps, um, on like different kinds of websites that let you generate it and like actually do a lot of cool stuff. There's one called Ink Permanent. It has a lot of really awesome, really artsy tools that let you make some really cool maps. These ones in particular, when I was looking up Curse of Strahd, people liked this campaign so much that someone took the time to digitally remaster pretty much every single encounter and every single map. So these are going to be some really high quality maps you're about to see here. They were a delight to find. It took a considerable amount of time to download them all. If I share the Dropbox with you, you'll be able to see all of them. Now that's part of the reason why I'm so excited about this too, because there's a lot of really large castles and stuff you'll be able to go through later on, and each room is just like done very, very quickly. That's why I said it depends. I didn't have the in-depth though. That gave me enough surface knowledge to know that I wanted to know more. There's a few websites that I subscribe to that had like animated maps and stuff like that. And I subscribed for a month and downloaded over like 6,000 maps. You didn't just set up the... Put them on the Dropbox and I subscribed. It's the strat. It was $50 a month, but they were so... They're just counting on the ten people that are not willing to do that, or, you know, and then the two people that don't, you know, don't care about the money. In fact, if we're being honest, I got high and forgot, so they got it two times. Like, ah, dang, I double paid you. And you got what I wanted. Well, like, maybe in a year they have a bunch more. They're developing an entire, like, sci-fi futuristic style of maps, which... I might go ahead and download and get, because Eric wants to do another Star Wars campaign. Star Wars campaign? Yeah, it was one of the first campaigns Eric ever DMed. It was like an entire homebrew Star Wars campaign. It was so amazing. It was really so amazing. Why don't you guys get further and we're caught up. We should do a one piece. One piece? We tried to do a One Piece campaign, kind of. It was one of my first ones and I did it poorly. But it was a One Piece and I have been wanting to do another one. I want it to be over so I don't... Hey, she wants it to be over. The show, goddammit. I know. It'll happen. It's getting closer. It's accelerating. You should see the latest chapter. In fact, if you don't mind being spoiled, I might show you a screenshot of the latest chapter. I know you guys, it won't make any difference to you guys. There's so much of that show I haven't seen. There's so much of that show I have. 800 is a considerable amount. Twice what I've seen. And then you're at like a thousand. Not quite. Pretty much a thousand. Workforce 70 or something like that. So little time. Or so much time, depending on... Close to half. Well, that room should be here today. Closer to half than not. Oh. Anime for Elbaf, I'm pushing, started this weekend. There's one episode now. Shit. So, next time we get together to watch Church of the Lost, I'll have it. One piece to watch again. We have a single episode. It's called like-- 40 minutes or something like that, I think, for JoJo. Have you heard? It's like a two part series. What was the one I told you about last night, Travis? It was "Damons of the Shadow Realms." It's the creator of FMA. And he made a-- like the manga of this thing just celebrated its five years. And it's their first episode out. And it looks dank. It looks really gory. Highly recommended. OK. What was it? It was called Daemons of the Shadow. Of like the Linux statement? Mm-hmm. Yes. Dramatic music Mutual Duel - I understand. The monsters, the Yuma, the Iggy, the Slither. They are your servants. I do also have to say that whole time I was watching that I was also musing about the fact that for the first time in probably a long time I was in a room full of people that responded immediately to my Linux analogy. This is where we're starting? So, not quite actually. I need to pull up another map. Okay. Because y'all aren't quite there yet. I'm probably going to grab a quick smoke of Rito. That's okay. Yes. If anyone wants to get any food or drink or do anything before we begin. Absolutely. Take your time. And then we'll dive in and play as much as you are able, jogging. Well, we should have a decent amount of time, because it's only 8. Yeah, probably an hour or so. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let's get something.

  • Bro.

I forget. Yeah. I get too high again. You said there were a couple of pens I could use. Yeah, I'll look at them. See which ones you want. I'm excited for next week. I'm going to check out that new control room place. I'm going to see 1991. She and me are out fucking the game. I'm excited to try out the new place. They have like open call for DJs on their website and I don't think I'm quite there yet. If this was like a year from now, it would be the perfect time and I would absolutely throw my name in, but I'm not quite there yet. Sorry, just two of them. That's perfect. Two is actually what I was hoping to do. Nice. That's the style, the one I'm using right now, and that's the one you're familiar with. Yeah. And... Thank you for those two and for How did I do it last time? Did I do Zelle? Do you have Zelle? I do have Zelle. Zelle? Okay. So then I definitely did Zelle last time. Oh, yeah. You are in my list of donations. So I owe you for two and then... What? Two because I think I also owe you for the previous time for one. I think the two previous times I've had one from you and not. I trust you, Jensen. I'm almost certain, in any case. So four is not much. How much for one? 40. 40? I need to do math with the calculator. I don't trust high brain to do basic arithmetic that I hated in elementary school. I'm almost certain that I actually have a little bit of dyscalculia actually. My nephews make fun of me for liking math. I like the logic part of stuff. I liked a lot of algebra stuff, but sometimes things got a little bit jumbled. But I always hated the basic multiplication stuff because My brain would always like jumble up some of them, like I just couldn't quite keep it straight. And I'm thinking back, I'm almost certain there's a little bit of dyscalculia there because I also have trouble remembering longer numbers of any kind. It's very possible. Thank you. Which row takes us to level 3? We will. If we survive. Yes, but is it prerecorded? Is it prerecorded? And who knows? I have the utmost faith in you guys. You know, I've been told that before. Have you? Have you? And then I was turned into a pile of ash. You were incinerated? I was disintegrated. Thank you very much. Oh! It was a ray of sort. But you were one of the ones incinerated. I was the only one not incinerated. There you go. That says something. I saw them all get incinerated. Yeah, the last campaign before this with Derek, Amelia, and Troy, it was very mean early because it spawns you in the basement of a mortuary. And like you literally, if you go straight down the hallway, the next hallway is an incinerator room. Designed if you step in there, there's a zombie on the other side that's going to come and he pulls a lever and he closes the doors and he pulls another lever and he incinerates you. It's just his job. That's so fucked up. It is literally his job, and he has a little nameplate that says Carl on it or something. And you have pretty much 10 seconds. You have one action to try to not have that happen. None of them except Travis was able to save themselves. I tried to save him. You did. But that was a really fun first session. About five minutes in, all of them... It was like, alright, so now bring out your other characters. Cause we all had three ready to go. I did have them correctly. Cause you figured that might happen. It's a unique campaign. You kinda cycle between the three if you die. Yeah, like you're caught like a cosmic fracture that prevents you from truly dying. You just reincarnate as another version of yourself. Interesting, okay. And then later on you like figure out what's happening and you're able to like become your true self and like gain a bunch of levels and then you can die. Okay. Interesting. Yeah, that last campaign I did was called Planescape Torment. It was kind of like a multiverse of madness kind of thing because you were in this wacky fucking spot that was like whirling all over the place. It's like a gate world. Yeah. Are you serious to see the One Piece spoiler from the current manga page? No, no. This is just giving you a hint of what we're looking at for the end of Elbaf. Wow, he doesn't look stupid. Devil? So he just turns into the devil. That's some really good shit right there. Wow. Yeah, pretty cool. Are they about to face off? Unknown exactly what's about to happen. Just showed up. But uh... Loki has... There's some crazy shit going on. I can't wait to watch it. There's a lot of shit. You might want to learn a little bit more about the people with the horns, like why some giants have the horns and why the ancient giants were gigantic and everything. You might want to learn a little bit more about that kind of stuff. There's a lot of really awesome shit. I'm excited. I'm excited. And I know they're going to do it justice when they animate it. They've been doing so much really, really awesome stuff. I'm not sure. So is everyone ready? Got their character sheets good? We have Gray Man. Just gray. Gray? Yeah, just gray. With an E. With an E? Yeah, with an E. You want me to tell you what it starts with? Yes. An I. Ear. Ear Dell? Yep. And then... Yes. Gray, Iridel, and James. At least that's not too many names. I've had to remember up to five names poorly. I gave you an easy one this time, too. So you guys would be adventuring around. I don't know if you... I don't want to describe how you would meet each other or how you would know each other, but you guys do know each other. I don't know if anyone wants to bullshit anything right now. We all know each other. You at least wouldn't be strangers. A human, a damn pure ASMR? Are you both? Well, yeah. Flavor. I'm a gnome. You're a gnome? Yeah. I'm literally a grayscale colored gnome. A grayscale colored gnome. A gnome that goes by the name Gray. And I'm a charismatic as fuck paladin. I think I'm probably going to be like, The weird pet follow along guy that you guys just kind of picked up because I don't really care what's going on and you guys were somehow protecting me long enough or keeping me alive long enough to do shit. Cause who was your, uh, the god or whatever that you were? It was, um, let me go back to him. His name is Garl Glittergold. He's a joker, holds special dominion over luck protection and trickery. So it defends its people in battle. Okay. A lot of out-thinking. Generally prefers peaceful and friendly manner of living, encourages cooperation, blah, blah, and has friendly relations with other gods who are kind of aligned with his. Basically just tricks and illusions, that kind of thing, quick thinking. And what was your involvement? I was kind of growing up in a temple that worshipped him. And because of my... deadpan literal great nature. - The temple was like-- - I got, yeah, they were like, yeah, get out. You can't even laugh, they have like every month, 'cause every month on the 13th, there's the whole like communion of laughter thing where they get together and they're like reveling in that jumps and laugh. And I'm over there like, they're jumping around, dancing, laughing, and I'm just like-- - Jables keeps this guy around 'cause he wants to try and make him laugh, is what's-- - Well, and actually, and what's funny, my goal is to be able to actually like Learn how to laugh and be so that I can actually go back to my temple. That's it So that actually works, okay that works Literally you picked me up in some bar because I was there alone like basically like out of money because I don't have Yeah, basically don't show any value to anyone That works not sure how you came along to that picture though But we at least have an origin vampire celestial sort of outcast I think probably I'm just heading the same direction that you are we happen to meet at a tavern and you didn't hate me yeah and I'm still deadpan that it literally didn't matter to me so it's like kind of nice to not be that might be it yeah You saw me first and I was like, hey. And you were like, no reaction? Really? And then this fucking guy. This fucking guy. Yep, I'm with it. I dig it. So y'all would be traveling the roads in these pretty, beautiful-looking mountains and woods. But as you continue, you would notice, well, everyone make me a perception check. I rolled an 18 if you would like to inspect I'm not gonna touch it and I have a plus 5 Perception. Excellent, excellent. That's a 23. Iridell sees a lot. It was a 13 for me, and what does that mean? You gave yourself proficiency in it, so you'll probably be adding... So I look at my, I just look down at the list here, and is that what I'm saying? Plus six, so plus six perception, so 19 total. Nice, 19, 23. So Iridel and Gray are going to pretty quickly notice that, you know, the fog seems to be creeping behind you guys, following closely, almost breathing down your neck as it envelops the path behind you as you walk down this road. And I'm just spaced out like... You are. You don't even notice. The air becomes a little colder and, uh, you know, the trees become a little bit more bare. Uh, is there, are there any objects nearby that no one is wearing or holding? Just laying on the side of the road? No. No objects. Not with your perception. You would see brush. You would see, you know, vegetation as you would, you know, normally recognize, but... Not really any objects. No creatures either? Nothing that a man might be able to... No, in fact it would be odd the stark lack of like even the sounds of birds in these floors. There's almost like a deathly quiet that's settled along with this thick fog. So the fog is kind of like we can't see through it. We just see the edge of the fog creeping up on us as we turn back? Yes. Can I produce flame? Yes. It's a cantrip, right? Yeah. You can hear those feet. So I would like to do that and point it towards the fog to see if it reacts. It continues to come towards over the flame? Yes. So like if you're turning around and trying to like stick your hand in this fog, you would do so and the flame is still there and your hand is in the fog. It feels cold like as your hand is enveloped by it. Okay, I take my hand back. I turned around to Jables and was like, Jables probably should start moving. Why not? Let's move forward. So we start booking it. Gray, you coming? Oh yeah, I'm running after you as fast as I can. As you book it, you would notice the fog is following you at a consistent distance. It's not like actually coming up to you, but if you go back to it, it's not giving you any room to advance backwards. Seems like we're going in the right way. You are. And you would eventually find yourselves at this Picture right here. An incredibly large set of double doors, slightly ajar with these incredibly huge decapitated statues at each corner. Being deadpan as I am, I haven't said a thing this whole time. As it's been coming up, I noticed it, but I was like, huh, and I just didn't say anything. Same thing with I noticed all the animals, and I was just like, oh, cool, no animals either. Cool. Extra quiet. Nice. And then I just kept kind of going. You said to come after you and run, so I was like, okay, so I just kind of followed. And now I'm sitting here staring up at these things, and I've just got a completely blank look on my face the whole time. But I'm taking it all in. I'm still just kind of just dry. What do you guys do? Something about it feels a little bit reminiscent. I'm not sure why. So I'm scanning the area. Huh? Make me a history check. All right. With advantage because you're in a dance here. And that's still a D20, right? History. You got a one. I met one? I did. It does feel reminiscent, but you can't tell. It doesn't make sense. You're thinking, this is kind of reminiscent. I can't really tell if it is. I really can't tell. I can't put my finger on it at all. I've seen you guys are heading through these doors. Yeah. I mean, I'm probably just going to absentmindedly start walking forwards towards them. Are they, like, closed and locked, or are they, like, sitting ajar and open? They are sitting ajar. If they're sitting ajar, I'm probably going to absentmindedly start walking towards them, but I think I'm going to stop right as I get to the edge of them, because despite being as deadpan and kind of non- The feeling is I am, I am going to be smart enough to think, maybe I should double check real quick. I am going to use detect magic. Okay. Just to just kind of quick check, just see if there's anything. And you can ritual cast that, right? Does it have a little R next to it? It's a little C. C is good. C is concentration. Concentration. I don't see an R anywhere. It just says use. Yay. If you use detect magic, you won't feel any magic in your direct vicinity. Other than your magical buddy right there. Another buddy right there. Detect magic can be ritual. It can in some circumstances. I'm not sure. Because I think you have it as a background feature, right? Or a ritual feature? Yeah, it was part of my magic initiate stuff. There you go. You can probably use it once per day, which makes sense. - That's pretty good, that's pretty good. - That's cool.

  • Seemed like a good enough time to use it coming to large gigantic decapitated statues with big doors that I'm about to walk through. I'm just gonna like, that's my little bit of intelligence coming through. - I'll make it work. - I'll go ahead and at least be a little bit cautious.
  • You sense no magic though, as you guys go through these doors.
  • That means that I'm gonna continue walking through, yeah. If I use the tech magic and there's nothing that I feel, I'm just gonna keep walking through. Yeah, just staring around. Unless anybody tells me to stop doing things, that's probably what's gonna happen. Just so you guys know, I'm just gonna be like, keep walking through, unless my intelligence kinda snaps in and I'm not seeing anything crazy.
  • I hesitantly follow 'cause Gray's perception seems pretty good, but I'm still very cautious because of that uneasy feeling. And I'm wondering how far into the doorway I can see as I'm starting to pass through.

You can see the trees actually change a little bit as you, like, peer in. They seem a little bit different. They seem a little bit lacking in color. They seem a little bit more barren. But, like, you don't, I mean, you see the fog definitely. It bars, you're probably seeing more than, like, - 50, 60 feet, actually in the doors.

  • Okay. And it's just like a hallway?
  • It is kind of like a wooden pad like you've been walking on.
  • Okay. I see what you're saying.

For reference, it's not like I'm walking quickly through. I'm doing that kind of thing that people do when they're like admiring architecture and I'm like walking and like looking up all the walls and just like, yeah. So if there's like anything notable that I would have observed when I'm staring at all of the walls and looking around, that's kind of my deal. So I'm just going to be walking around just kind of like taking it all in. Okay, that's a nice ceiling. Is everyone walking in? Okay. You would see the fog, of course, as you're predicting, like, billowing out and swallowing up the doors, and you are going to hear them close behind you. Okay. Very large doors. First thing I say is, like, well, we should have expected that to happen. Guess there's only one direction to go. Yep. You said it's just like a wooden path, just kind of going forward, and that's all, it's just the walls on the other sides, and just moving forward, that's all we can see so far? Yes, yes. You can see black pools of water stemming like dark mirrors in and around the muddy roadway. Giant trees loom on both sides of the road, their branches clawing at the mist. So the fog's not following us anymore? It's kind of enveloping? Oh, it for sure is. Is it still kind of doing the same thing where it stops when we try to go back towards it, but as we move forward there's like a set distance that it kind of follows us? No. You can actually move backwards now. You can move up to the gates. It does move kind of more freely with you now. Okay, so it's more just like a straight radius around us. Yes, precisely. Quick question: Does detective magic... So that's just like magical effects. Does that include like spiritual type stuff? Or is that strictly magic? Or are those two kind of like the same thing? It's basically the same thing. If someone dabbles in anything that's like extraordinary or like miraculous, it tends to be detectable in some way. Okay. I just wanted to double check that. Absolutely. Make sure that was a good difference. As you guys continue down this little road, it would not take you very long to eventually reach the outskirts, should I say, of a village. How big of a village are we talking? Very, uh, well, from what you can see, it's not very big. Like, single road looking kind of deal? A little bit bigger than that. A little bit bigger than that. Do we see anyone moving around in the village? Or is it the same kind of, there ain't nothing going on, just the fog around us still? It does seem to be too foggy to see who's in the houses directly around. But, as you approach this one house in particular... Oh, man! Wooo! This is the first house you would get to. And there's no signs of life anywhere? No. No animals, no birds? Not currently, no. Is a thick fog still following us into the village, or are we kind of moving into the general fog of the village? And the thick fog is at the edge. As you move into the village. Oh. It's going to kind of open up and you're going to be able to see this house in particular fully. Okay, so it's still been in this radius, but then we get towards this house over there. It's like inviting us to this house, basically, as we get there it fully opens up. In this instance, maybe. I say that like, just I'm imagining in my head that that's how the fog is opening up. It's like, okay, you get to this house and it's like, well, this spot's open so you can go there. Yeah. Are you guys good with those three minis right there? To be your temporary maze until I create you a new maze. Works for me. Perfect. Perfect. So... Where do we want to use this going? Exactly. Designate that and we should be good to go. Well, my two cents would be this is the only girl so that would be my character. This looks like a paladin-ish to me. For sure. And then that would make you the gray man. Gray. The gray red man. So I'm the one with the Looks like fire in his hand right now. No. No? That works. I'd be okay with swapping too, but I just... That works for me.

  • Guys. - I'm touching it a little dry. - Because I assume you're approaching this house, yeah?
  • Yes. - Yeah, I figure we got, see nothing else going on. If it seems like this is where we're going, this is where we're going, I'm the one that's just gonna kind of follow where things are following.
  • I think I'm kind of drawn to it, even though it is very ominous that the fog would suddenly allow us to see something is pulling me towards the door.

It is ominous. It is very ominous. I'm like peeking through the window. I rolled my eyes. As you guys start approaching the house, a soft whispering draws your eye toward a herd of children standing in the middle of an otherwise lifeless street. So there are going to be two... I'm going to use these dice as the children because I don't have minions that don't look like horrible monsters. Children aren't horrible monsters. They are. Are they horrible grotesque monsters, though? Sometimes. You would see a 10-year-old and a 7-year-old. Okay, so the children are at the house, okay. They are standing right in front where those dice would be. The little boy is weeping and clutching his stuff, Dom. I was going to ask what they were doing. I was just going to ask what they were doing. There you go. They look normal, aside from the crying. Perception check. Anyone who wants to give them a look. I'll give them a look. I'll give them a look. I'm just going to say. Something about them. I'm glad someone else is getting eyes on this situation. I rolled a nine. That's still better. So 14. 14. I rolled a 10. This many. So, Ken, do you still have the six?

  • 16. - Yeah, 16. - So five, 14, 16.
  • Sounds right.
  • I have been keeping an eye on things as we walk around, so I'm definitely eyeing these children as they show up. I'm like, uh.
  • There definitely does seem something off about these children, but no one's able to really see like, oh, this is like an illusion based off of magic.

They do seem like real children. Although their clothes are tattered I assume you're approaching can I do I like see their eyes? I know the boys crying Do I see the girls eyes what they look like? Like piercing blue I hang back No I'm going to be the deadpan guy that's going to stare at them and be like, hey, what are you kids doing standing out here crying? This is kind of weird. Where are the adults? As you address her, she notices you. She's going to shush the boy and turn to you guys and say, there's a monster in our house. And then she turns and points to the house up there. Its windows are dark, it has a gated portico on the ground floor, and the rusty gate is slightly ajar. The houses on either side are abandoned, their windows and doors boarded up. How does dark vision work? So essentially, dark vision lets you still see in like gray scale whenever things are considered dark. So if you are in a dark room and don't have dark vision, you're like essentially blind. But it doesn't work through like windows. No. Even if I'm up against the window. Well, you can see through a window. And if it's like dark inside, you can see inside. Okay. So I also have dark vision. Yeah. That's what you're asking. Oh, because I did say the windows are dark. Well, you can just tell that there's no light on in any of the rooms in the house that you can see. No signs of movement, no flickers of something. Y'all live alone? No. This is our mom and dad. Where are they? Well, I said that earlier. I asked where the adults are. You didn't answer that question the first time. Why did you have to wait for them to answer? Okay, so your parents, where are they then? We don't know. We just know there's a monster in the house. While that conversation's going on, I'm kind of moving to the side of the house to see if I can see anything, like, behind it. Like, you're moving yourself, like, over here? To the edge, yeah, to look around, to see if I can see anything through those windows or in the backyard or anything like that. As you, like, start to move around the house, I guess make me a perception check a lot. 23, 22. You'll see something similar as you go around the house, like no movement in any of the windows. You don't see any lights. You don't see smoke from the chimney, very little. It's almost like a death silence is settled over this area. No, I didn't work very good. Do you guys feel like monster hunting? Trust these kids is a stretch, but monster hunting, I could be convinced. And I'm just going to say, well, I mean, it's not like we have a lot of money or anything. Maybe this can earn us a little bit of something to get us started. I need some help getting back to that temple. It's a far way away. Parents keep the monster trapped in the basement. So they keep it trapped in the house, it's not just loose in the house? But you also don't know where your parents are. We don't. We hear it scream, it's a terrible house. Doesn't sound like a threat though. It's kids that are scared of the monster noises in the basement because their parents are gone and they're home alone. Unless they're monster kids that want to eat us even, you know. Maybe we can distract the kids instead. Like play a game or something. i'm trying to think we did also just get to this village and we're stopped at the first house maybe you're just gonna leave two kids one crying on a patio i mean i guess we have decided we have also decided that they're super suspicious and i'm the kind of guy that's gonna be like you know this is kind of like this is weird i don't like it they said that the The monster's chained up too. Yeah, the monster's chained up. Sounds like it's not a real issue. They're just scared of it. Also, they keep saying that they don't know where their parents are, but the parents are the ones keeping the mon- nah. Maybe we can figure out some more. We need to figure out where the hell their parents are. You said just the two neighbor houses were kind of boarded up. Yep, but as you go to leave the general vicinity of the house, the fog blocks your path. Do you kids know about this fog? Can I try talking to it? The pod? Yes. Is it an animal? No. Does it speak any languages? The fog's only letting us see these two, or I guess these three houses. There's one house, and you can see, like, the other two that are in the fog. Right. Just kind of silhouettes of them. I got bad news. I got bad news. You know? Alright, I tentatively walk up to the girl and ask her her name. I keep... at least six feet of distance. My name is Rose. Alright, Rose, what are your parents' names? And your brother? My brother's name is Thorne. My dad's name is... Would a little kid know their dad's name? Ten-year-old? Yes. With piercing blue eyes. That was also a quick fucking... I mean, I guess you're right. I don't know. This kind of a gothic thing, it seems like they would probably be on like a first name basis with father. Or they would be calling him father specifically. My dad's name is Gustav and my mom's name is Elizabeth. What was the brother? Thorne. Thorne. So you said you don't know where they are. When's the last time that you saw them? Long time. Monster still just changed up in your basement. It is. I look at the party members back and forth. With concern in my eyes, not willing to ask the question that I feel like we all should be asking. I'm staring deadpan everywhere. You have to tell me what the question is so that I can answer it. Ask it, like, ask it. I'm hoping Jack Black is going to. Jables. It could be one of the two of us. Either me, just out of sheer, like, blunt, it's going to, like, piss people off or something like that. Or... No filter. That's what I'm relying on. Right. If it's, yeah, I mean, if both of you have the question or the answer or the statement at the time. I intentionally don't say words. I'm gonna look at the kids and be like, yo, did you master eat your parents? When was the last time you saw them? You said that they locked them up. I don't know. We hear it screaming in the basement. The last time you saw your parents. We don't know. It's been a while. When they left, did they leave or did you just stop seeing them? You know what I'm saying? Like you were doing something and then your parents weren't there when you were like, hey, yo, mom, dad. Like they weren't there. I'm just staring at him incredulously. I'm gonna laugh for like a month to say. Well, I'm trying to think of exactly how she would word this. So basically trying to ask if they know their parents left or if they just were like, oh, hey, mom, dad aren't here. We think they left. Yeah. Think they live. Okay. What makes you think they live? Leave a note. Like, yo, we gotta go to the store. Did they say not to go to the basement? They did. So, I'm gonna look over at both of you guys and for a split second, I'm gonna be like, are the parents just fucking in the basement? Oh, God. Have y'all checked the basement? Ever? No. My problem is I'm so neutral that I'm kind of indifferent to whether or not we actually save these kids. I don't really care. I'm just like, this is weird, you're probably not safe, but also if there's a monster we could totally kill it and it'd be cool, but also... We just got here, so... I think it's kind of up to you guys to... We're so much trapped by the fog. Yeah, so we're trapped by the fog. So I'm like, well, I guess we got to go in one way or the other. We can't go, can't do anything else. The question is, is somebody going to stay out here with the kids? Are we going to take the kids in with us? I don't think there's any means. We're going to go back inside. We're scared of the monster. So have you guys just been standing out here on the porch basically the whole time? How long, like for days, hours? Have your parents told y'all anything about the monster? Did they ever say it was weak or anything? Did they ever tell you what it was? No, it's just totally clueless children. They told us, they would tell us scary stories about it, or tell us scary stories about it. About eight people. Eight people? Where is, I was just going to ask, where is the basement? I asked the kids, where in the house is the basement? Where's the door for it? How do you get there? As we're sitting here still talking to these children and we're like, well, I guess there's nothing else to do. I'm going to start walking kind of towards the house and like inspecting the door area. And by inspecting, I mean just kind of like looking around at the door area. How did you describe it again? You said you described kind of like a gate area. Did you describe like the actual front door? Because that's where I'm looking now. So you're actually approaching the door. Yeah, like I'm actually approaching. Like if I would be... Like at this point, are we still standing all over here kind of past the gate? I would be kind of like up near like this gate area, like kind of starting to approach them because I'm like, there's nothing else we can do. I'm going to start walking that direction at least a little bit to get it a little bit closer to the look. You can see that there's a very rusty unlocked gate that is separating this first section, kind of the entrance. Like a full height? Gate or like a half gate? Mid-level gate. So gate here and then where is the door? It's actually right here. Let's go ahead and transition to the next map. I don't see every room. OK. What room? Exactly. And that would be pretty much right. That's what I was thinking, so that top left over there. It's like the front porch in that mansion, right? Yes. This is the half gate, or this is a door, and there's a half gate here? Yeah, that's the half gate. Okay. That's the half gate. Yeah, because that's what I'm walking up to. I'm just going to be like, at this point, I'm walking up to it. Are the kids inside this half gate, or are they on the outside of it? Nope, they're standing pretty much exactly where those dice are. So they're standing on the outside of the house. And you would see that, you know, there's a little area. Okay, so yeah, as we were doing that last bit of questioning, I'm definitely like walking up and kind of like, not walking through the gate, but I'm like looking around and kind of excited. And you would see a set of open doors. I want to ask the kids if they remember any of the stories that they were told and if they could tell me one of them or not, you know, about... Persuasion check. Hey kids, can you tell me some of those stories? It's terrible. There's a nine. They do not. They do not. I kind of look at the patio itself over the gate and see what I see other than the door. Like I look at the sides. I'm just saying the sides of it. Yeah. See if I see anything there. Chains, a lot of this stuff is very rusty and seems worn. But nothing out of the ordinary in this whole section. I go ahead and touch the gate. Just touch it, I don't push it. A light touch. Uh, it's going to, you know, it's gonna let out a shriek as the rusty hinges, you know. And unusual, that kind of thing. But other than that, it opens normally. As it does that, I'm gonna be like, hmm, need some oil. Just like deadpan, like, oh, it needs maintenance kind of thing. It does. Because that's going to be my shtick a little bit. It really does. I would ask the kids if there's anything we need to know about their house before we go in there. Is this a home alone situation? Have you kept Kevin McAllister at the place? This one's a 21. A 21. Well, they actually can tell you. Bless you. Baby brother Walter is on the third floor nursery. We are worried about him. On the third story? On the third floor nursery. I put my ear up against the door and listen as hard as I can to see if I can hear anything. That's crazy. At this point, so at this point we're all inside the little rusty gate. We're not fully inside the door though yet. We're just kind of staring. We're still at the open doors. And are they, at this point I'm just gonna say, so the door's unlocked. We can just go in. You guys, you kids just left it open for us. 'Cause the little boy--

  • Go crying or anything? - He would be like sniffling a little bit.
  • I'm like reaching up towards the door, like my hand might be like on the door, like we haven't walked in yet, but I'm like, look, the kid's gonna be like, hey, you can just go in. I'm doing like a final, just like-- - The door opens and you go in. - Final like permission ask, like looking at the kid, like we can go in, as my hand touches it.
  • If you help us kill the monster, sure.

Like I said, my hand was touching the door to push it, so I just kind of like press it a little bit. I'm going to take the loot, my loot, and I'm going to give it to the boy because I'm going to tell him, I'm going to say, I'm going to play you a song when we get back. I'm saying, because we're coming back. The little boy is going to have a little bit of his hands confused with his stuffed animals though. Hands a little bit full. Exactly. As you guys, I assume everyone's pretty much moving in to this first room. Yeah. It would be a pretty grand foyer that you would walk into. Everyone made me a perception check. Okay, six. I couldn't read it and I touched it and I'm pretty sure it just rolled over. 17. 17. So-- Plus your modifier, right? Yeah, plus 6. Excellent. Everyone would pretty much notice that the wood panels-- or the wood paneled walls are ornately sculpted with images of vines, flowers, nymphs, and satyrs. Everyone who got over a 12 on that perception check, if you like-- Look more closely at it, you'll see serpents and skulls inconspicuously woven into the designs. So there's some kind of very interesting, like almost hidden imagery in some of these ornate decorations in this first room. My first thought is going to take me back to my religious upbringing. I'm going to think about just because a lot of that felt a little bit Forest gnome-ish a little bit in a way, and the idea of the vines and the more happy looking things, but then a few little spooky things made me think of the other gnome god, the cloak shadow one that's similar to Glittergold, but a little bit more nefarious minded in a way. So that's literally my thought is just I'm just making that connection because I've got that religious underdog. Nice, nice. Anyone else want to do anything before we go to the next room? Or I assume y'all are basically just... Is there a door? There is. There is a door right here. Pretty much the same thing. What does the door look like? It's just an oak door? It is another oaken door, much similar to the first ones. I go ahead and open it and walk in because we're already here. You go to the right. Not locked. Nothing like that. So this is a very fancy main hall you're going to walk into. You are going to see, mounted on the wall above the fireplace, is a long sword. Very nice. And there's also a large spiral staircase on the far end and several doors. I'm still listening out for screams because they said they could hear it scream. Make me a perception check. 11. I'm also a listener, but mine's only 13. You also don't hear screams. Same for me. I guess might as well everybody listening. 15. No. Plus the six. No one hears any screams. I'm actually just going to say that out loud. I was like, you know, those kids said they were screaming. I'm still not hearing anything. It's going to make it hard to find the basement. It's too quiet. Quiet. Too quiet. Which one of these doors do you want to go up to? Or the staircase? Is there any difference between the doors that I notice? They look very, very similar, all of them. Do I see anything up the stairs? Just kind of peering up like you would in a without taking a step. You would be able to immediately see that it does go up. Green. Three stories. But we don't see a way down. Not currently, no. But the little brother is supposed to be on the third floor. On the third floor. Yeah, we just go up and see if they even have a little brother on the third floor? Yeah, I think we see if they've been lying to us from the start. We're already in the house, so we might as well know what we're dealing with. And considering it's a little baby boy and they were talking about a monster and they were outside scared, probably a good idea for us to check in on that baby first. Yep. Alright. Yes, sir. So really fucking small for some reason. Yeah. I guess I'll go ahead and show you as you continue up the staircase, you will briefly see this room right here on the second floor. Everyone make me a perception check as you briefly stand on this floor. 8. 8 plus-- 24. 24, 8. That's 24, or 14. 14, okay. I had to do math while I was learning. You got computers for that these days. I got computers for that. But there is cobwebs littered all over this floor in particular. The first floor looked relatively well maintained, but this one looks like no one has been here in a very long time. Evidence of ash and cobwebs. But the baby's on the third floor. Yes, as you travel up to the third floor as well directly. Nobody's been on the second floor in a minute, but-- We keep the babies on the third floor. So all we're really noticing is just that it's particularly dirty because all the doors and everything are closed, I guess. It's just dirty. That's really what we're noticing. So I was actually mistaken. You would only see this staircase descend two floors. So you would be on this floor and you would be standing there. Okay, so we're on this floor and we noticed that this floor is covered in cobwebs, but this is the second floor But he did say that we're supposed to be a third floor so yeah, we're like confused and it's dirty and they said the third floor So I'm also just kind of say it outright and be like yo this at third floor Are the lamps lit? They I have a feeling I'm going to have to find another loop, guys. Another loop? What type of lamps are they? Are they also oil lamps? They are. They are very gothic oil lamps hanging from chains. How many feet in any direction is this? So the ceilings are 20 feet high. It is an additional 20 feet down. So the staircase is overall 40 feet, but the ceiling in this room here in particular is 20 feet. The ceiling is 20 feet away. Are the lamps reachable? Yes. I use produce flame and light one of them. Okay, you would light one. Does it reveal anything? No, it just kind of lights up dirt and dust. You would actually be able to see now much more clearly hanging above the mantelpiece right about here is a portrait of what you would assume is a The family, because you would see a man and a woman, and then the two small children you would recognize as Rose and Thorne. We don't see a third? You do actually see Cradle in their father's arms as a swaddle baby. Okay. So, beetle baby in the father's arms. Baby on the third floor, monster in the basement. But yeah, so we're noticing the portrait. I kind of lightly touched the canvas. and muse about how old the painting must be because of the cobwebs that are on it.

  • Give me a, Give me an investigation check, actually.

Alright, investigation... This one... 21. 21. That is also a nat 20 roll. Does that give me advantage? Does that count? Is that a thing? Is that only in combat? Nat 20. It does definitely give you bonuses. It just is a different kind of result than being able to get a bunch of damage. But you would be able to see that this painting is probably at this point, if you were to guess, I don't know how you have painting expertise like this, but it is very old, at least 50 to 60 years old. I've seen a lot of things. I've seen a lot of things. I've done a lot of things. I've been a lot of places. I've been nowhere. I've been everywhere. 50 to 60 years old. And the... Is it... That these kids look exactly like the kids that were outside? Like 100% identical? They do. In fact, the kid even has the stuffed animal in his hand a little bit. Which room calls your name boys? There would be multiple. There would be this one, this one. You just want to start opening doors? I'm opening a door. I'll follow you. Move your minis to whichever spot you would be in this scenario. Can we go to different doors? Five. Yeah. Do we have to go through them if we open them? Tell me exactly what you're wanting to do. I would like to be able to open a door and look into a room. Okay. And you're this person? Yes. Okay. Which one do you go through first? I look into – let's see. So we just came up here, right? Yes. And I looked at this lamp. I saw that portrait. Yes. So I would probably do this door because I can see it. Okay. So, as you go to that door, you just kind of want to peek your head in there. Hope that one of the dark vision people is doing that. That's why I was like, I'm trying to, yeah. I probably should give a look. You said you lit this lamp right here? Yes. Oh. When I came up the stairs, I would have also, as you lit the lamp, I'm probably also looking at the portrait. I probably would have said something dumb like, at least they didn't lie to us about how many family members they have, because they're telling, saying that they're lying to us about stuff all the time. There you go. So I would probably say something like that, but if he's opening that door, I'm probably following him. And since there's another door, I'm probably also just going to open that one. So you would be able to briefly see Dustin Cobwebs shroud in elegantly appointed bed room. What makes it brief? What? You said I could briefly see it. So you were like opening the door and looking at it. So then me reclosing the door is what's briefly or what makes it briefly? Are you trying to like peek your head in there and close it again? Well, I'm trying to look in to see if I see anything. Because we're looking for a kid. And now I'm particularly skeptical because of this 50 to 60-year-old painting that's, like, oddly reminiscent of time seeming to stand still, which is something that I've experienced. It is something, right? So if you're actually going into this room... You would see just that. You could see does cobwebs, an eloquently appointed bedroom, and you would even kind of see a very nice fireplace as well. Is there any like scent that I might smell? It is like, you almost smell faint aromas of like womanly perfumes and things of that nature. It almost smells sweet, like flowers. I'm listening for movement like a small child, just, you know, still looking for that baby brother that is depicted in the painting. And there's no cries of small children or large monsters. Or small monsters or large children. Or a lot, yeah. You would not hear any noises whatsoever. Like this entire house, other than y'all's footsteps, has been relatively quiet. Where exactly in this room are you going? Are you like looking in anywhere? I'm standing exactly where my character is and I turn back to the group. So from where I am, I turn around to the group and tell them this is a bedroom, but I don't see anything initially. Back in this room, you turn around and walk along. That's basically what I was about to ask. If y'all want to check that room, I'll barge in there. The room inside of this room? But if y'all want to check another room, we can open another one. I said that I was going to open this other room, but it was right next to it. Since it was right next to the lamp that was lit up and next to the painting. Because he said he was going to go in this room. Since the painting was right here and this was lit up, I'm probably just going to reach for the doorknob that's right there. Crack it open. Crack it open, yeah. So that door in particular you're right next to is a storage room with dusty shelves lined with brooms, folded sheets, blankets. Like soap and stuff. Okay. Fair enough. I'll probably just open it up. I'll probably just be like, yep, just a closet. Close it. I'll probably turn around. Close. I'm doing the whole deadpan just like, oh, okay, yep, just a closet, closet, turn around, walk away. I'm not going to see, I mean, because I've got the dark vision too, so unless there's anything that was like hidden in a dark corner or something. Because I'm not going to like walk into the closet necessarily because I'm going to open it and see it's a closet and be like, no. You don't see anything immediately open or bad, you know. Usual toiletries. Okay, so yeah, that's going to be... That's going to be the extent of my look, unless maybe do like a perception check in my walk-in or something, but I don't know if that... With the lamp lit, if I'm looking around, would I see the double doors lit up at all? Here? Mm-hmm. You would see these, you would see this set of doors. You would. Yeah, but like would I be able to tell it's like just double doors and they're like... Yeah, they're all pretty normal double doors. They look different here because this guy embellished some things. Okay. Yeah, that's why I wasn't sure. Uh... Yeah, with the trigger, it was like stained glass or something. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. So I'm going to check in on the double door room. And I'm just going to open those doors up. I'm just going to swing them open. Mm-hmm. You're going to this room. Wait, I'm telling them, like, all right, guys, I'm going to open this one. If, you know. I mean, we did all just kind of, like, start walking towards doors and opening them and just kind of, like, saying what's behind them. So it's like the split up and open doors and yelling at each other. Before we do that, do you want to do anything else in this room? Like looking in the doors? Well, I was going to say, since I've determined that mine is a closet. I'm probably going to be following him because I have been following him. So I'm probably at this. Yeah, I'm following him over. Wrong hand. Another one. Oh, sorry. Okay, yes. Because remember, we have done this after each door has been a dud. I kind of roll my eyes at him embellishingly opening those doors and walk further into the bedroom and kind of like. Look warily at this door trying to decide if I want to open it waiting to hear what he says As you guys bust open this room, it is very obviously a master bedroom You would see of course dusty cobweb filled master beds burgundy drapes furnishings include a four poster bed embroidered curtains tattered glossamer veils Quite a bit of things. And also a rug that is... Does it say it's tiger skin? I think it does actually say it's literally a tiger skin rug. It's a rotting tiger skin rug, even better. Holy shit. Everything is just pointing to this house being very old and those kids being very much not alive or something. So... Yep. I wonder, is there something I can do to... Kind of noticed just like pay attention this back. I don't know Can I kind of use a perception check just to kind of put things together a little bit about This being way too old of a place for these kids to be living in Well, you can uh, you can already assume that yeah, y'all are now investigating like what exactly is going on, you know Yeah, so I guess i'll probably just kind of remark on it out loud and be like, okay, so It's looking like this place is definitely, like I'm going to kind of confirm it out loud to myself. I don't know how suspicious you have been of it at this point, but I'm going to confirm it to myself out loud. I was like, okay, so everything's pointing to something being really wrong here. These kids should be way older or something else is wrong here. This place is not the right age for what's going on. Years aren't adding up. I don't know. I'm a little high to say words, right? Yeah. I said the room's empty to us. If the room's empty to us, my plan is just to walk over back towards Iridel to tell them that that's the master bedroom, but it's empty. And then, you know, I see them looking at the door. I'm going to start tearing this room apart. I'm still inside. I'm coming back to it. Yeah, he's still coming back. I'm still inside the room. I'm going to say I'm actually still inside the room a little bit. And I've looked over at this mirror. Is this actually like said to be here? Is that an actual thing? I'm just kind of like looking in this direction at the fireplace area. Yeah, I think there is actually a mirror in that room. Let's see. Yeah, so you're looking at a vanity with a wood framed mirror and you would see that thing sitting on top is a jewelry box. Okay, I'm absolutely going to be... I'm opening the jewelry box, but I'm not going to be just like dumb about it and like open it up. I'm going to be like, you know, kind of open it up, take a little peek, just making sure that there's nothing going to immediately jump out and like spider attack my face kind of deal. Uh, as you open the box, uh, make me a constant. No, I'm just kidding. Nothing happens. Nothing happens. Anything in there? Uh, yes. Uh, It itself was made out of gold and silver. You would see three gold rings, a thin platinum necklace with a topaz pendant. There would be jewelry in that box. Okay. I'm not going to do anything with it because I'm not trying to steal it, but I'm taking note of that because it could be payment. A rogue stealing? No, it's like could be payment. Yeah, that's what you're a rogue, right? Yeah, but I'm not necessarily trying to go the stealing route. Okay. You did. As I was saying earlier, I did notice, you know, the more dark parts, and I was thinking about that other gnome god, and he might be a little bit more prone to stealing. So maybe that might come into hand, but I'm more thinking about it as potential reward for when we defeat this shit. Maybe we could be like, hey, saw some jewelry up there. We could take some of that shit, you know. Not stealing, just, you know, bartering. Yeah. Blackmail, kind of, but... Yeah. I'm literally just looking for something I can ask for. Now we know that they have something we can ask for for payment. We know that they're not just dirt freaking poor. Back to y'all in this room. If they're even real things that we can ask for payment from. And if not, then it's not stealing. Yeah, and it's not that they're not stealing. I'm trying to figure out if I can tell where that perfume scent is coming from because it's odd that there would be a perfume scent in such an... Whole bedroom? Exactly. Unkept. Unkept. Particularly from this door to the nursery. Oh, from this door that you're looking at. Fuck. Is door labeled nursery? It's not, but... What was I saying? Is there anything else about that area that I was looking at besides it's just a mirror and a vanity and there was nothing, like, identifying necessarily? Not necessarily. Okay. I think at that point I'm probably also going to follow back. I was just checking that because it was literally right there when we walked in the door and being the... I go ahead and push open the door that has the scent coming from it. I'm also going to mention the jewelry to these guys, by the way. As I walk in, I'm going to be like, hey, by the way, they got some nice jewelry you can ask for as a reward. As you push open the door, it's a nursery. I'm proud. So, so we, like, we can't tell if the crib's empty or? Um, currently, no. You'd have to walk up to it and, like, fart the shrub. Y'all want to see what's behind door number one? I'm going to say as I, like, you know, walk closer towards it about, like, you know, let's say I'm, like, right from the... I'm going to walk in and make some really stupid, dumb joke about how that's actually door number. How many doors have we looked in now? Probably... Okay, if we count the gate one, front door two, there was a second front door three, five, six, seven, this is actually eight. I'm gonna walk in here like, well actually this is door number eight. Because if there's a basement, this could technically be for three, you know, kids are stupid. That's... I take stock of all the exits to this room, as is my...

  • Are you holding the door open?
  • I am holding the door open. I am looking for other exits and entrances.
  • So you would take note of the stained glass window that leads out into a balcony in this room. Other than that and the door you came in, there's no other entrances or exits.
  • Does the stained glass window look like it opens?
  • Or the door?

Yes, sorry. - The stained glass door, okay.

  • Yes. Yes.

Can I see the patio through it? I know it's like colored and distorted, but do I see anything on the patio? Can I see the ground in front of the patio through it? Make me a perception check. 22. You do slightly see very dark ground, but you know, you also see the fog looming right outside of this house, right outside of this window as well. Are the kids still there? I'm not going to be able to see the kids. Oh, you're looking for the kids down there? Can you see that from where you are? So this technically would be My left corner would be right above the front door. Yeah, because this is right where we entered. If you move a little bit farther over here, you can make an attempt to look down there. Not quite from where you are. Like from here? Yeah. Because he's moving here, right? Yeah, I'm waiting to pull the veil back. Also moving into the room, looking through that, because I'm looking for egress. What was your roll again? 22. 22? You don't see the kids. Does he see my loot? Yes. It's just like laying there. I make a comment about his loop being on the ground. And I am visibly relieved. Is someone, I guess, going to go up and check and see what's inside of this crib? I'm going to... So, I should have asked this earlier, but my proficiencies were long sword, great sword. Do I have one of each? Your starting equipment should have specified how many weapons you were able to choose. The likelihood of you being able to have multiple is high. You likely were having to choose between just one. Thank you. You can start with the following or you can forego and spend $150 on your While he looks that up, I call out to Gray over here to hold the door. Okay, yeah, because I've been behind them the whole time. I was literally, I was about to say, like, I've been kind of, like, hanging around the doorway area. I haven't fully entered yet because they're not, it's not a huge room and they're kind of just inside. I've been trailing behind a little bit. So that's, so yeah, I guess I'll be here holding the door open, just kind of, like, in the doorway. Okay, okay. Does that mean you're going to pick the crib while he's doing that? I was looking for the kids. And all I can see is, like, fog. Like, is it, like, right up against the edge of the patio? Mm-hmm. It's, like, hugging the house now all the time. So I've caught up I'm standing in the door, I guess I'm gonna kind of ask for like a catch up on things because I guess I haven't been here so it's basically like, you know, is glued on the ground. You can see the kids, kids are gone. The lutes there. So, and I've walked in the door and I can obviously tell that it's this crib there. Is there anything else in the room? Is it basically just empty except the crib like it looks like in the picture? Or is it like furnished a little bit? Is there pictures on the wall? Anything else? Because, you know, like I've been saying, I'm the kind of guy that's walking in. Do you need to know that before you check the crib? That's why I didn't check the crib.

  • Is just this crib and a single lamp.
  • You have single lamp, okay. - Unlit lamp. - Unlit lamp has not been lit, okay.
  • Unlit lamp and a single crib with a black shroud.
  • All right, well I mean, and I've just walked in and I've got the caught up and I'm looking at them like, they're like, seeing that there's a crib, I'm just gonna say it out loud with the blunt dip pen. And I mean, I was like, well, there's a crib, didn't they say that there was a baby? They said third floor, but. We had that discussion earlier about maybe including basement. This is the third floor and they talked about the basement with the monster.

So I'm just kind of making observations out loud, trying to drive the decision. I'm standing at the door. I'm also going to ask, can we light that lamp? It's pretty dark in here. I'm just going to ask the question. I walk over to the lamp and light it for him and make a comment about the kids having disappeared and making sure we watch our backs. Is anything changed with the lamp lit? You can see much more clearly in the room, but no. Nothing changes. If I'm able to use the 150 gold on my starting stack instead of this bullshit that they give me, I can totally do it. Can I do it? Sure, yes. Sure, yes. It actually maps out really nicely. Javelins could be cool. Should probably head out in about 10-ish minutes, though. In fact, if we get to this next part right here, it would be a good spot to kill it. So, now that you know that you have your weapons, are you uncovering the Shrek? I was going to use my greatsword to peel back the veil. Okay. I don't trust it. I don't trust this 50-year-old, you know what I'm saying? 50-year-old baby. As you uncover this veil, you will see a tightly wrapped, baby-sized... Bundle laying crib in black blankets. We just see the bundle and that's it? There's nothing, no visible face on it or anything? No, it's wrapped. Fully wrapped. I'm probably going to say out loud, is it dead? I say, I think it's too late for this anyway, and start to walk towards these doors because I'm very interested in what's going on outside the house. You guys don't want me to poke it? You can do it if you want. It's just like a little bundle of clothing. Did I see? It's a little bundle, baby-sized bundle of black cloth. From what you can tell. And does it look like it's actually wrapped around anything? Or does it look... You would have to... I'm gonna try and turn it over with my... You're over there like... And of course I'm standing further back. And I'm short as... I'm short as shit, so I probably can't see in the crib. The moment you go to move the baby with your greatsword, you are going to hear this spectrum voice appear behind you guys as a literal specter is going to manifest of a woman. And she's going to say, don't touch my baby. And she's going to attack you. Oh. So we can call it right here. I'm just going to remove this. Yes, good stuff, guys. Good stuff. Wait, question. Yes. If she appeared behind them and I'm in the doorway, am I behind her? Yeah, so she's right. So she's between us. She would be coming in right now. Okay, so it would be like between all of us because I'm in the doorway and he's kind of over here Okay, just I was just trying to get in my head Interesting. There we go. So me this will be fun See how this goes Indeed baby brother on the third floor.
