Transcript
nosfaratu - killed another vampire lord. ...gained the session waking up after the death house, yes? I think so. So y'all had successfully made it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. After the death house. Yeah. God, so much has happened in Sophie's house. So y'all successful, leveled to three, passed out and woke up in a camp of some gypsies who I thought was Italian. Not Italian. Closer to gypsies. With a robot. They had said, you know, that they had found you guys passed out on the street and had taken you and kind of like put you in some bedrolls and were having a merry old time. Upon waking up, you began talking with one of them in particular, Izzik, who was, you know, telling you a bit about the Vistani and like where you were and a little bit about Strahd. And then y'all were like, all right, we're going to go into town. I think Iredel was the one to see a church in the distance, which compelled you guys to go visit that church. Actually, upon Jables detecting an undead inside of the church, you all made the decision to then go to the town and try to gather more information. You guys then found yourself in the tavern. Talking to a young man named... Ismark. Ismark, yes, thank you. Ismark contracted you guys to help him transport his brother... Ivan. Ivan, yes, to Kresk. that he was fearing for his brother's life. He was being targeted by Strahd, right? Yes, I did. Okay, yes. So he did tell you that. Yeah, I had that written down. He's being pursued by Strahd and he feels like Crest would be the safest place. So you guys agree and then agree to leave in the morning. I think he does give you a little bit of information as well about the church saying that The priest's son had been missing for about a year. Yeah, that's how we decided that we were going to go back in there. Upon talking to this absolutely broken man of a priest, you're able to determine that his son was turned into a vampire spawn, and then he locked him in the basement trying to pray to his god for some way to save him. He actually agrees after some pretty good role-playing and some checks from Iredell. He agrees to let you guys put him to rest, seeing as though there's no cure for vampirism. That we know of. That we know of. Short of, like, a wish spell or things that shape reality itself. So for this peasant boy, the chances of him being cured are zero. So you guys went down there. He did not go down without a fight. In fact, I think he latched on to... tables for a round of two got him low, but collectively y'all did a good job. By the way, I agree. Hookah, some kind of fruity-ish hookah, but I can't pin down like a specific thing. It's more like a memory of going to hookah bars in Denton. Yes. Is basically what it tastes like to me. Yes. What's that one we always got at, uh... There's like a blend. That one hookah place that I used to get to all the time. That was like grape. Yeah. Kind of grape-ish almost. They had that like special name and it was like three different fruit flavors. I know what you're talking about. That's what it tastes like.
- See, I mean, and it's called dragon breath, which makes me think it's like a dragon fruit flavor, which I feel like there's definitely some sort of like tropical mix of hookah that's got like dragon fruit and passion fruit or something like that. That's what it tastes like to me. It's like a mix of that. Maybe peach as like a weird note. - Apple juice.
- I thought it tasted like apple juice, okay? I stand by my statement. Anyway. I'm pretty sure... Oh, one thing I also did gloss over is that when y'all went with Ismark back to his mansion and were able to talk to both Ismark and Ivan, they asked you guys to help bury their father who had died. And that also compelled you to go back.
Yeah, because we had got drunk at the bar with Ismark, is what I had written down. And then we... I specifically wrote down well-fed and I remember that we went to their house and we got food. Yes. Did that and talked to them and Iridel sat in evens flat. Should have went there. Crazy talk. To start with, I remember that starting off specifically and he was like, uh, what's happening? I'm pretty sure there was a performance check that happened later too. She did what? Someone performed and someone didn't perform. Couldn't top my dice roll, though. But yes, you guys kill the priest's son and he agrees to help you bury the Burgomaster at dawn, which you guys do. You go back to the Vistani camp, you talk to that Vistani man a little bit more, and he tells you guys, or he asks you guys to accompany them down the road, also leaving tomorrow morning, so that coincided with all of y'all's different events. You guys went into that woman's house, Mad Mary, and talked to her a little bit, determining that her daughter had been taken by Strahd and was likely in the castle. We, uh, - Took her daughter's doll. - Yes. - So that we could help like, I don't know, convince her or at least help her recognize us or whatever, something like that. - Yes. - I have something very odd written down. "Is no fun, is no Blinsky" apparently was stitched on the sackcloth dress, which is super, super weird, but okay.
- "Is no fun, is no Blinsky" is exactly what was on that tag, which tickles me that you wrote that down.
Well, because you said it out loud and I was like, shut up and write that down. Yes. Did I leave anything out? Her name is Gertruda. Actually, no, no. Up to where we got to the camp? Yes. You left a lot out. Hey, hey. I'm doing this all from memory. I'm not even reading the answer. I'm just rebelling this. I'm pulling it out of my deep memory. But yeah, you guys buried the Burgermaster. Leave with the Vistani, travel for a few days unimpeded, and get to a camp where you continue to drink. I think one of the Vistani also told you a tale of, uh... Was it a tale of Strahd? No, it was a tale of a powerful wizard. ...who Strahd struck down after rising an insurgence against him. Oh, yeah. I don't have anything about that written down, but I remember that now. Yes. There was a whole tale about that. Yes. And then they bid you to go into the tent where you guys had your fortunes read and your fate's path revealed, as they say. We can read those again if you guys want a brief. Yeah, that would be good so I can check if I wrote it down right. I would actually have to pull up. That's the last thing I have written down, so I think we stopped right after the reading. Yeah, you guys literally stopped right after we got that done, which was a good time. Let me go back. In fact, I probably could just have these two things open because I did record that all. So your first tone Oh, this one. So... To go over the card reading one more time. The first one was, this card tells a history. Knowledge of the ancient will help you better understand your enemy. And then you guys got the master of poems, which dictated, I see a nest of ravens. There you will find the prize. Another, or the next one. This card tells of a powerful force for good and protection, a holy symbol of great hope. And then you guys pulled the Master of Glyphs for that one, which told you, you will find what you seek in the castle, amid the ruins of a place of supplication. Your next card was... This card... This is a card of power and strength. It tells of a weapon of vengeance, a sword of sunlight. And then you guys got the five of coins. I see a dark room full of bottles. It is the tomb of a guild member. Your fourth card. Little finishing adjustments like making that clap reverb a little bit quieter and shit like that. And then release it. I actually need to get some art ready. I think I can upload it before I have the art ready. That's fine. All right. So, with that, you guys would find yourself still hanging out with the Vastana in their camp. I'm pretty sure that after getting this fortune read, you guys would have drank it and then slept on this otherwise. Yeah, I don't know what else we would have done after that. So she's been next to the morning. Where are we now? That's right. We're kind of like in the middle of this little, in the middle of this little short cutie path. It's upside down. And we need to go here. Ultimately. Yeah, we're trying to get way up over here. So yeah, we need to make our way. Well, we probably want to talk to the people that we traveled with to get here. Just at least say bye. I think the last time we looked at this map, you guys recognized this location as well. Oh yeah, that's right. That's the place that we have the deed for. We mentioned that. Yeah, our mill. The Vistana are not leaving. You can tell that their camp is a bit more established. So they're continuing to hang out, eat food, play instruments. Yeah. So I think maybe we'll at least kind of chat around and make sure that going forward the rest of this dotted path is safe to get back to the road because we were told to stick to the road. And I remember we were a little concerned about that. But then from there, I don't see any reason why not to just continue on the road up towards the dusty or whatever it is. Durst Mill? I can't read that upside down. The Durst Mill, yes. Yeah, Durst Mill. Okay. Yes. I know I wish we turned this upside down. Next table I build the TV hole. But, yes, if you guys would ask the Vestana about the dangers of the road, how exactly would you ask them? We still got, what's his name, the guy that we... You would be with Ivan and Ismark as well. Yeah, Ivan and Ismark, yeah. And what was the name of the one Vestana guy that... We had like met first. Is it? Yeah. I guess if he's still around, that's who I would go to just because he's like the guy we met first. I would maybe meet him, ask him the questions, and then say goodbye to him before we head out. He would be milling about having breakfast and whatnot. Good morning. Good morning. We're up very early.
- For you. I just wanted to check in with you before we headed out.
Make sure the path ahead is safe. Get any tips you might have before we head out. That kind of thing. Persuasion check. Oh, is it persuasion check? Was that it? Probably not be me doing that. Can I help him? You are the one who asked. Yeah, yeah. How are you helping him? For people, I just see him like, you know, autistically blankly asking for his information. And I'm, you know, like walking up behind him, like I put my arm around him, and I'm like, you know, sitting there nodding next to him, like giving Isaac like the... Isaac and I go back, we've been playing instruments together, you know. Both of you give me the role then. Let me confirm what he would know explicitly. So two tens. You know, he has been hanging out with you guys for a moment now, so he is going to, you know, he's going to say, well, I can't tell you one thing. There is an old window on the road between this town and Blackie avoided at all costs. Between this town and where? It's going to be that dirt. Oh, yeah, it's going to be the bill that we're talking about. That town that we mentioned, I guess, is further off than that. It's actually right here. It's behind me. It's part of it, too. That doesn't help that it's upside down here. Mm-mm-mm. He's going to continue about his day unless you guys have any more questions for him. I just wanted to make sure that it was okay on the way to the road. It should be fine. It should be fine. You should be fine. Just don't go to the woods. You take care of yourself, Hissik. Thanks for everything. You as well. You as well. Hopefully our paths cross again. We pack up Ivan and... Yeah. Okay. What's his name? Ismark. Ivan and Ismark. Yes, yes. So... A 12 and a 5, or an 11 and a 5, both equal to 10. Hmm? I don't know where the f*** he is. Oh, dude. We're very good. You guys travel this day. A single day's travel, which would be like right here. It is nighttime as you guys get back to the road that looks a bit more proper. This is more like a path you guys are taking through like kind of like a very wooded foresty area. But you will see the road once again. But as you guys travel, Someone give me a d20. Yes, I'll do it. Go for it. Oh, God. It's a two. A two. Wouldn't have won. Wouldn't have won. Twice as good as me. One is the loneliest number. You know, even with the two, nothing will happen on this day and time. That's what I'm saying. That's what I want to tell you. One, dastardly shit. Right, yeah. One is where people show up and rob you in the night. Wagon randomly explodes. Rob you in the night. 18, 19, dastardly shit. You trip, break your ankle, it gets infected. You trip, break your ankle, it gets infected, you almost die. Shit like that. We're playing Oregon Trail. You guys going to continue to travel through the night, or will you set up camp where you are? I'm assuming you guys are going to want to set up camp. Are we like, right on? Sear Falls? You guys are right before what looks to be like a waterfall. Better to do the waterfall in the daylight? Yeah, if we're still on the front side of it, yeah. Might as well just stop and stay the night if we've done that. You guys are setting up camp. Ivan and Ismark quickly set up their tents as you guys do as well. Who is taking watch over the night? If at all. If we want to split it up, I'll take first watch. I don't have dark fish. Yeah, I mean, I can take second watch. And we're not supposed to use lights at night. That's true. I remember that one. Um, yeah, I can just take watch for the night. That's fine. Oh, that's going to take a second watch. That way nobody's super tired. We'll do that. We'll split it up. Yeah, we'll do that. We'll split it up. I'll take first and then I'll take second watch. Okay. Someone who is awake for this first watch, give me a detour. Or this first four hours of the watch, should I say. Thirteen. We're not blessed or anything, are we? Are we still blessed? No, it doesn't matter. It's an attack or saving roll. So yeah, it was a 13. Nothing would happen this first four hours, and I assume you would wake up your compatriots? Yeah, after the first four hours, I would wake up Iridel, and then it would be her turn. Okay. Iridel. So y'all are letting Jable sleep through the night, because Jable can't see in the dark anyway. Yep. Okay, that makes sense. I mean, if something happens, I'll get woken up, you know? Hopefully. Yeah. Roll me a d20, Eridal, for your four hours of watch. I do better than a two this time. You hear me? Move to digital dice if you don't. Seven. Nothing happens for your watch either. Three times better. Almost. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Almost four times better. But you guys all wake up. You're starting to now notice that while you can tell the difference between night and day because of how dark it gets, the sun really never shines. It's always very obscured. Is it like cloudy or like kind of foggy obscured? Is it like obvious clouds? Like Pacific Northwest. Yes. So like you guys aren't really getting hit by direct sunlight. But as you guys continue towards the falls, you follow the river to the base of a canyon at the far end of which a great waterfall spills into a pool, building forth clouds of cold mist. A great stone bridge spans the canyon nearly 1,000 feet overhead. You would have a bridge to cross on here, but it would be... An absolutely huge waterfall. Someone roll me a d20 as you cross it. Roll this one. Sure, sure, sure. As we cross it? Yep. 13. 13. Nothing would happen as you guys are able to easily cross this one. He's going just a little bit right now. Those are really light. So, and that would take you guys pretty much over the falls and then you would end your second day right here. The rest of the day's travel would go without incident as you guys traverse this very dense wooded area. You will ever so often hear howls of wolves in the distance. But that would end another day. You guys traveling through the night or are you camping? We're in a dense wooded area. For sure, I would say camp. Because we stumble off that trail. That's true. And if it's dark, it might be easier to lose the trail. We've got night vision, but... I'd say, unless it's obvious that we're more imminently in danger, we're probably going to camp every night. Okay, let me get us some... Is one of us gonna carry Jables? I'll put Jables on my back and travel through the night sometimes. Is he the only one without darkvision? Yeah, he can't see. Plus it frees him up to serenade us while we travel. Is Mark and Evan too? And I'm sure neither of them have darkvision. Yeah, I would imagine. They're humans, right? They do not have darkvision. Do we know for sure that they're humans? You assume. Then that's all you can do, right? I'm sure you would... I mean, we could ask. You would have more intimate knowledge of Ivan. You'd know he's a human. Well, I know that he appears to be human. There's plenty of things that appear to be human that aren't. This is true. Ah! Anyway. Anyways. So, Jables, you down to camp most nights?
- Up for the first watch.
- I'll stay up first watch.
- Roll me the d20.
- Come on, big money. It's a six.
- Nothing happens for your watch.
- Nice. I go wake up Gray, ask him, do you want to take second watch or do you want me to go through the night?
- Yeah, I'll go ahead and take second watch. I like the idea of alternating first and second. - Exhaustion sucks.
- It does. Hit me with the d20 roll, Gray, as you also take your watch. You're sparing Jables all of these roles.
17. We're depending on him during the day for muscle shit. I'm going to play a wake-up song. I'm going to give these boys some inspiration if they don't have it. When does the inspiration go away? Just when you use it and you can hold it forever otherwise? Yes. I think I keep forgetting to use mine, so I've just kind of had it for the first time. It's getting a little long for like nat 1s. I'll usually like expend it for a nat 1 and try to get it to similar. So yeah, that's actually while we're talking about that, when and how can I use that? Is it like I have to declare it before I do any roll or when do I use it? So the luck feat in particular, which lets you do something similar, you have to declare before you make the roll, but inspiration you can make after you make your first roll. Okay. It just gives us advantage, right? Yes. Is it only during battles? No, it can be for any D20 role. Okay, so any D20 role. That's what I wanted to make sure. Would that apply to, like, if I was doing a perception check, I could use it or something like that? Absolutely. Okay. That's what I wanted to make sure. You can't reroll damage, I don't think. Can you heroic inspiration, or not heroic inspiration, but inspiration of death saving throw? Yeah. Okay. You'd have to be a dick to send out of that. You can't remember that on a nat 1 too, right? You don't necessarily take the nat 1 effect at that point. You just take the second roll. Unless it's a one also. That's happened. That's happened. That's happened. I mean, you know, what can you do about that? So you're saying like you roll a nat one and then you go ahead and use the inspiration and you roll another and then it just, whatever you do, as long as it's not a nat one again, then you're good. Yeah. Exactly. Exactamundo. Okay, cool. Thank you for taking the time to clarify. Of course. So we're coming up on a thing that we got to decide on because he told us, well, I guess the mill's actually on an offshoot, huh? Yeah, it looks like we would have to. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Are you talking about, like, whether or not you go to Castle Ravenloft for the mill? Yeah. Well, we got to go drop off Ivan, right? Yeah, I think we decided we were going to do all of that first and then at some point on the way. Now we're going to see the path. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I can scoot you guys out just a little bit this way. There's a lot of fun about to be happening. So, I'll see you guys wake up. Travel this next day. Absolutely. At the end of this day, you guys are going to come to another crossroads. Even here in the mountains, the forest and the fog are inescapable. Ahead, the dirt road splits in two, widening towards the east. There you see patches of cobblestone, suggesting that the eastern branch was once an important thoroughfare. Parked at the fork in the road, pointed east is a large black carriage drawn by two horses. The horses snort puffs of steamy breath, Into the chill mountain air, the side door of the carriage swings open silently. You guys are going to see this massive, very luxurious, entirely black carriage pulled by two black horses at the fork of this road. He's waiting to take us to the castle. Is this carriage, like, normal looking? No. What's the first thing that stands out about it other than its size and the fact that it's all black? The very gothic opulence. That's to it as well, and like the little sconces. Does it appear empty? Perception check? I'm going to do a perception check too, because I'm suspicious. No dark techno yet, guys. Put it all fucking autoplay. I do not perceive it. Mine was an eight. I don't think I got one. Twice as good as mine. Not that you were sure. Is Iridil perceiving here? Yeah, I'm trying to see if there's anything that I can sense, smell, taste. Perception. 20. Nat 20. Nat 20. Plus my whatever. What is my... Uh-oh. How do I roll a d100 again? It's the tens and the single d tens? Yeah, there's the ten that has the-- yeah, yeah, yeah, you got it. It's the two different types of d tens. What's the ten? If you need one of the other ones, I have it. It is these two, right? Oh, yeah, you got them. Yeah. Unless you got a golf ball in here you can roll with me. Would everyone want to roll that? I got 7-0-0. 70. Well, it's 0-0 on one and then 7 on the other. Oh, is it 7? Yeah. Yes. Sorry. I got borked. That's why I rolled a golf ball. Second one's a 50. Oh. That's why I hate to roll the golf ball. Have you seen the golf ball? Yeah, it's pretty cool. I don't like the golf ball. You don't like the golf ball? I get fucked on the golf ball. All by, almost all by Jess. That's crazy. That's the reason I like these. I mean, to each their own. But with a nat 20, your subsequent seven, that means you get advantage on your next perception check. I think it's a nat 20. Cool. Nice. I wonder what it would have been if I'd gotten out of here. So, y'all are all going to kind of take a look at this very, very nicely done black carriage. Jables and Gray aren't really going to see too much. They're going to be kind of distracted by the suddenness of the appearance of this. But Iridel is going to not only notice that Ismark and Ivan are going to start backing up and trying to hide behind a tree... You are going to see sitting inside waiting for you guys is It's funny, I didn't put it on the drop box, so I'm just going to show you guys on the sub-top. Because I can. Because I can. Sitting in this, you are going to see Straub sitting there in full plate armor, somehow drinking alcohol. Because why not? You're going to see them sitting in there. Did you hear this? Did you get a hit, Miss Grace? Yes, thank you. I'm fucking blasted. I'm obviously terrified of the fact that Stroud is there. It's no wonder I didn't see anything, because I'm sure. Thank you. My intention was to continue after this anyway, so. I don't think Strahd's just going to let us leave. Make sure I'm behind everybody the whole time so everybody's always blocking my vision. That's what I'm going to do. Right, yeah. As you guys sit there, like, silently dumbfounded for at least a few minutes. Strahd's got to be used to that, you know? I feel like that's a pretty normal reaction to just stumbling across Strahd. I'm going to start tuning my blue. You're like, I don't know how, Fred. I don't know how. You're going to hear Strahd say, well. Definitely not AI generated. Oh. That's not a good idea. Oh, wait. I might as well say it. Bang. Bang. Bang. Yes. That's a lot of work for just rotating it. But what have you. Yes. Yes. What else would I say in that situation? I'm going to just keep tuning the loop and be like, you know, where are we in relation to the carriage? You're like about 60 feet away. Oh, we're like 60 feet away? Will we just hear her say so? You do. Oh, you sure do, actually. You sure do. I'm going to assume that she can hear us from there, then, and just ask, you know, is there anything we can do for you as I continue to tune my instrument? Is there? Well, I mean, you know. I kind of look to see where Ivan and Mark have gone at this. Have they gotten behind a tree? They backed up a lot. They're, like, hiding in the bushes in the woods now. Okay. Are you going to come in or are you going to stand now? You're not even offering candy. May I take this delight? I've got a quick to move this for you. Let me finish chewing. Gray's about to be gray. Okay. Gray's about to be gray. If you guys don't oppose me being gray for a second. Oh, Lord. Well, we were on our way to check out some new property we got, and I'm not sure we were really planning to head your direction. I'm just going to straight up say that out loud because we're being asked. What we were doing. I was trying to be big enough at least to... ...close, you'll be heading my way soon enough. And with that, you're going to see the door of the carriage close, and the horses... Oh! And the horses began to take the carriage away. It is going to start going down this road. Once it's out of sight, I call to Ivan and Ismark. Okay, it's safe. Are you sure? I think so. I'm not so sure. Just get out of here, you pansy. I'm surprised that worked. I'm so sorry. Come out of the bushes. Surprise Network all had to do was say, well, we weren't really planning on going in that direction. Guys, I thought that was it. I can't believe we're still alive. Ha ha ha. With that, it would be closer to the end of the day. After the two days' travel, this is where you ended at this crossroads. Would you try to camp here, or would you... I mean, I guess you could get a decent distance away from the actual crossroads itself before you said no, you can't. If we zoom in further, is that little castle-y looking thing along the road, is that actually there? Because I know we had gotten a look at the map. Right in front of us. Yeah. So there's kind of like a building. Oh, that in particular. Those you would recognize are similar gates to the ones you saw when you entered Barovia. So like they're two large statues of warriors protecting one gate. Kind of like around a gate. Okay. But that's what that is. Yeah. My thought is if it's I know we have access to this map, so we're probably using it for navigation. My thought is if we can, we will probably go at least up to that gate and camp there. You can do that. You can easily do that. That's just me. That way we're not at these crossroads because that was definitely scary. If there's a stream or anywhere near the camp, I would like to clean my trousers. Clean my trousers. That's funny. She didn't do anything. She just told you to get in the van. Get in the back of my van, little kids. But yeah, you guys would easily be able to go up to the gate. There wouldn't be a stream nearby, but I'm sure you can... You could get it done some way. That's why you learned to spell create and destroy water. To hide your sins afterwards as well. But who's giving me the first camp rolls? You guys start camping in the night. Unless there's anything in particular you all want to talk about and or do. You know what? First night after that kind of encounter with them hiding and our whole purpose having been to escape the Strahd situation, maybe we have a little campfire conversation with this marketing guy and see if we can persuade them to give us some more info on what the fuck's going on. Yeah, why did Strahd not immediately take them? Yeah. Or try to? That's also a question on my mind. So you guys are asking why... Stride acted the way he did. I was... I'm sorry, yeah. I got you. So, uh... Ismark is going to answer, um... Oftentimes, stride toys with their victims before killing them. Um, we've actually seen many an adventurer come into this realm only to be, like, broken down pretty much mentally and then killed. I think she has so little to do in this realm she's now trapped in that killing people who happen upon it in her trap is one of her only pastimes. So she'll likely toy with you a bit before she actually intends to kill you, unfortunately. I think that's kind of the same with my brother Ivan. Like a cat playing with its mouse. Say he does that to people who come to this dimension, does that mean, you know, Ivan isn't his actual blood brother? I forget what the whole relationship was. It's funny that they hadn't told you that, but you're going to bring up the fact that they are not blood brothers? Didn't we learn that? I'm pretty sure we did. We did, but not from them. Oh, that's right. So you're going to bring up the fact that they're not blood brothers, and Ismark is going to say, how did you know? Actually, I think Ismark told us that when we were in the tavern because I have it written down when we were there. Really? Yep. And that he showed up mysteriously as a child. So yeah, we must have persuaded him when we were really drunk in the tavern. Okay, that makes sense. That makes a lot of sense. Okay. But yes. Okay, so I'll say because I remembered that. So we must have learned it from him. Okay. So yeah. So that means if he showed up mysteriously, maybe we didn't. bring up that we remember that. I don't know if... I don't remember they told us, but... They just casually mentioned, you know, that Ismark had mentioned it over drinks. Yeah. It didn't bother us any at the time, but it does pose a question at the moment. Yeah, and now we learn that that's, like, the main reason he's being targeted, it seems like. Yeah. It also seems as though the people who come... Into Barovia and die their souls cannot escape even in death. I Don't know if you were able to witness what happens in Barovia midnight. That's right We did see that work one of us saw that you saw that and then told us about it So there's a little bit of shenanigans happening there we don't know enough all we know is that speculation and like what we can see which is of course the souls of the dead walking month living so why exactly Ivan's getting targeted who knows I would think Ivan would know but like look at him I mean that's true that is true sorry well yes I did so We ate our marshmallows. What are we doing? First watch, second watch? Yeah, I had second watch last time, so I'll do first this time. Rose. We'll alternate that one. Unless you had anything you wanted to ask the non-fraternal brothers. Yeah, if you can think of any other questions. Where's, so is Mark, are you from Barovia? Yes, born and raised. The Burgomaster was my actual blood father.
- Where did the people of Barovia come from? They all just, boom, there were people here?
- So, I guess you guys are on the road, he's helping you out. So Strahd, we would know, conquered the lands of Barovia 600 years ago and claimed it as his own. And of course the people who already lived here continue to live here. Just got fucked by that. And then at some point or another, I guess he had made a pact with the powers of evil that turned him into a vampire and thus imprisoned him. Which imprisoned all of us.
But, uh, he hasn't killed all of us because I'm pretty sure he would go, or she would go insane if she was here alone. So, she allows us to continue to And or hungry. Live. Procreate. exist. Interesting. Interesting. Any other questions? I think we're good. I'll go ahead and roll first watch. Alright. Roll. Eleven. Nothing happens for the first little bit of the watch. Guys down. It ran away. Travis, I think it's by your feet.
- Rolled quite a ways.
11. 11. Your watch also happens without incident, which brings it to the morning. We're gonna roll. Bam. D20 roll for the day. My inspiration runs in that. Please. Oh my god. This is exactly what it exists for. You know? I'm into a two! It's infinitely better. With a two, nothing happens on the day. Oh my god. I was getting so excited, too, about one of these encounter rolls. Holy shit. I'm so glad I had that inspiration. Inspiration is good. Oh, shit. So, for your two camp rolls, go ahead and hit me with them. As you guys, I assume, sleep through the night. Or hang out through the night. I'll go first. 17. 17. Nelly Adams, great. Go to? Nothing happens. You're fucking riding a razor's edge right there with those fucking titties. What the fuck is going on? I play another inspiring-ass song in the morning when I wake up about our travels thus far and how we narrowly escape. Are you able to inspire people once per day? Yeah, during short rests, but so, you know, long rests. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So you guys all gain your inspiration if you did not have one. I mean, Musicians gotta play and practice every night. We're camping every night, you're playing every night, but the campfire probably is a little bit... Which takes us to two days of travel! Or one day! At the end of a shorter long rest I can play a song to give a number of allies heroic inspiration. One more d20. For the next day. I got this shit! Fourteen. Fourteen, nothing happens. Each of you guys give me your camp rolls as you camp throughout the night. Me first this time. What the fuck is going on? It's a two again. You're getting some pretty bad fucking luck on that one. Yeah, I might need to use a real dice for my next roll. Because the fuck is happening? I get that. I'm going to refresh my page. What was yours? One second. Nothing happens. Alright. So, as you guys begin this day of travel... It was almost a 20. Because it's been like four in a row now. Yeah, what are the odds? Low. Halfway through this next day of travel, you will come to another fork in the road. And you would be able to see on your map that that is... Durst Mill. That we were told to avoid. Would you avoid it? No matter what? We gotta at least get close and inspect it before we go past it. Yeah. It is Yale's Mill. Real quick, I did bring a bunch of drinks. It's the... I'm gonna come check them out. The liquid death thing. Basically, I just brought the... The new one I tried last time is like a tropical kind of thing. It tastes kind of like a fruit punch and tea mix, I think. It's really good. Hell yeah. And there's fruit on it. She said to avoid the middle and we're just going to walk into it. I'll take that.
- These are supposed to be way more caffeine compared to what you're doing. - I mean, it's about average for like a soda.
Regular T1s actually have even less. Off the mark. But my two cents on it is, I think we look at it, you know, because Isaac told us that they were kind of allies of Strahd, so they would probably avoid places that are, like, anti-Strahd, and that could influence why he would say that. They would have, maybe. Okay. I think that's a good enough reason. That's logical. What's happening over there? Are those... Are those... Those sweets. Oh my god. Hello cinnamon chips. So fucking much. Oh, that tea is good. That tea is really good. I was gonna man the other one over the sink. I'm a fucking rat. I'm just bringing a bunch to the sink. I see the tree's dried. Sometimes they freeze right now, and I know that they're so dank. It's the sprees this time. Oh. - So good. Hey, if you don't give me my weed, I'm going to start loading your weed. I didn't realize these-- Oh, it's funny. I should have had Suzanne do that before she left. Should have got going before we were done with this. Looks like I'm stealing your weed. There's a significant amount still in this house. There's no way. Damn. I'm giving you the bull loader, because you have the space over there to do so. I gotta use another chip first, but I'll accept the responsibility. Yeah. You taste it. Doesn't it taste kind of like a fruit punchy tea kind of mix? Yeah, it's good. It's very good. Instead of a lemonade tea mix. It's different. I lost Jables. I found him. I was freaking the fuck out. I was tweaking. I've crushed a mini under my chair before, so I get that. Your last one was like in five pieces by the end of itself. I know. He's still in pieces. He had skinny ass legs though, so it was fated to happen. He skipped my day. For sure. You're not like a lizard though, you had like... You had long skinny lizard legs. I don't know... if he would enjoy being called a lizard. Dragonborn? Yeah, no. It would be an insult. Yeah, that's kind of what I'm getting at. You're talking shit on my boy. My current character is a dragonborn. What, you think that gives you, like, the pass? Yeah. Well, yeah, actually. What do you mean, you people? We're all five dragonborn in Azeroth. I dropped a chip at that. Five deep dragonborn, shared backstory, we're all siblings. Siblings of like a Nixie or something? Tiamat. So we're all different colors. We're different colors of her heads. Because she, I think, is also the five chromatic dragon colors. So we're like children of Tiamat. Dragonborn Sorcerer is good because you're dragonborn. I'm a white dragonborn so I get the cold resistance and then you pick another ancestry for Draconic Sorcerer so I picked the red one which gave me fire resistance so now this character has like off the rip two resistances and you get to add your dex and your charisma modifier to your AC if you do not have armor on so I have 19 AC as a sorcerer. It's the craziest shit ever. And I have three levels of warlock. So I have like almost as much health as the cleric. So I'm learning about multi-classes. Actually, this Azeroth campaign. And Eric hates it. You want to hand me that? Buy her. Yes. Let's just respond. They're a problem. Yeah. All right. So you guys are just going to dip a toe in the snow is what I'm hearing here? You're just going to go walk up and see what's up? It is your property after all. That was my thought. At least kind of go up and do some thorough perception check if we can safely do a walk around before or something. We'll just check it out. How does passive perception work? So passive perception would help you see things like secret doors, traps, Hidden creatures. Exactly. What is your passive perception? High, because you're a druid, yes? 15. That's pretty good. 15 would allow you to see some pretty decent things. It does... These notes I'm reading, it does know what you would be able to see with that. But thank you, I need to keep that in mind. I didn't even think about that, because mine's 16. That's also really fucking good. What's that? That's pretty average for someone who won't put or doesn't have wisdom as their... What are you trying to say? That's exactly what I'm saying. Jables is charismatic, not wise. You have a charismatic? I fucking hope so. I take that. I got a seven. On a perception check? Real perceiving? Yep. Oh, I thought that's what we were doing. Yes. Yes. You guys are. I'm trying to pull up these notes right here specifically as you guys are watching. Also a 19. 19, 19, 7. So. Smoking balls, smoking balls. It would be fused and never come out. It would come out. So, even though it is a ship thing, as you guys approach this windmill, you would notice the old, squalid road transitions here from being a winding path through the Battlenaut Mountains to a lazy trail that hugs the mountainside as it descends into a fog-filled valley. In the heart of the valley, you see a walled tower Near the shores of a great mountain lake. Its waters darken still. A branch in the road leads west to a promontory atop which is perched a dilapidated stone windmill. Its warped wooden veins strip bare. Do you have a visual of this area you can show us? Or are we just going to have to go on the description for this one? It depends how close you guys want to get to this windmill. Right now, as you end the day, you could see this dilapidated windmill a few hundred feet away. Pretty good distance. You said there was a little lake. Is it on the other side of the lake? So, zoom out. On the side. I think you can, this is the lake you're referring to. Oh, okay. It's closer than we're thinking. Yeah, so you guys are kind of like cresting these mountains right here, kind of. So on a higher vantage point, not only can you see this mill, but you can also see the lake. Okay, that's fine. But also, the description also slightly caught me off guard, but this is definitely the lake that it's referring to, Lake Bizarrovich. Okay. That clears it up. That makes sense. And we don't see any motion from the windmill, no lights. So Iridel wouldn't be able to see any lights, but Gray and Jables, oh, I forgot that, are able to see. There are very, very dim, flickering lights on some of the higher levels. Very dim. Someone said our windmill. You said it's how far away? At this moment, you guys are about 200 feet away, to 200 feet. I mean, I'd like to get within 100 feet so I can send my raven to go see what's up. Welcome back. You guys could do that. I assume you're trying to do it stealthily, yes? Yes. Do we want to bring Ismark and Ivan with us? I guess they could be useful in case we run into combat potentially, right? They could be really liabilities if we leave them. That's true. I just wanted to double check that. So you guys would be trying to bring them with you? Yeah. At least the 100 feet part. Right. They'll agree to go 100 feet. You can see that Ismark is extremely nervous getting this close to the window. What do you not like about this window, Ismark? I don't know anything specifically, but it just doesn't seem... I don't know. I'm getting bad vibes from it. I am in C's last word. Ivan, what do you know? What can you tell us about this windmill? I don't know much about this windmill, but seeing Strahd just a moment ago, I've accepted it. I've accepted it. So he's just like, I'm gonna fucking die and I don't care at this point. Does Grace say that out loud? I assume he would say that out loud. Like, now I wouldn't quite say that, but... Yeah, I'll go ahead and set it off. I don't know how much closer I could have gotten to death a few days ago. I guess I might be being dramatic right now, but... Well, I pet the raven on its head and send it off. Okay. And then I use the ability to see and hear through its eyes as it gets close. You're having me kind of do a perimeter check? Yeah. Okay. So, as you have your raven fly around, go ahead and give me a perception check. Big money, big money. 18. 18. All right. With an 18 as your raven flies around. you be able to see the windmill is definitely not in good shape. It's very dilapidated. There is actually smoke rising from like a chimney. So it's able to see that very clearly. Unless it goes inside, I won't be able to see anything except like some very dim lights also flickering on the second floor. Is there like a window on the second floor? There are no... Actually, let me see. There are windows, but it's very hard to get vision because it is very dim inside, even with the ones with lights. To the window. So as it goes to the window. Raven. That's probably why I said that. You're not supposed to harm a raven, you know. It has some value. So as it goes to the second floor, you would see a haggard, heavyset old woman with a face as wrinkled as a boiled apple sweeping the floor. Can you do me a favor? How much weed do you want? Sixty. Whenever you want. Sweeping the floor, pushing around a few old bones, and stirring up a cloud of white dust with her broom. She wears a blood-stained, Flower cake apron, a long sharp bodkin impales her bundled up mound of gray hair. The dirt cake windows allow very little light to enter this eight foot high chamber, most of which is taken up by a large millstone connected to a wooden gear shaft that rises through the ceiling in the center of the room. A stone staircase continues up. Towards the sound of loud cackling as well, you're ready to be able to see. But that's on the second floor. Okay. So, creepy old lady speaking. That's always fun. I said there's bloodstain on the apron. Is that what I heard? Yep. Does she notice you're looking at me? Doesn't seem to notice you're waving as it sits there. Are there any other windows that I can look through that the raven can perch up against? There is the third story. You said there was Catherine coming up the stairs from where we were as well? Yep. So as your raven flies up... So there's at least two people in here. Yes. As your raven flies up to the next story, give me another percent. Big money, big money. Sixteen. 16. All right, that's pretty good. Dancing around... Dancing around. That's the timing number. Dancing around a big wooden gear shaft in the center of this cramped circular room are two ugly young women wearing silk shawls and gowns of stitched flesh. I like how it specifies that they're ugly. They are very ugly. Long needles stick out of their tangled mops of black hair. The woman cackle with glee. In a rotten wooden crate or closet are three crates stacked on top of another with small doors set into them. Next to the closet is a heap of discarded clothing. A ladder climbs to a wooden trap door in the nine foot high ceiling. A moldy bed with a tattered canopy Is nearby. Dosed. Passing this back to the book. So. This all scares me. With a 16, your raven would also see in the corner, in addition to these two very ugly women, are two children in small crates slash cages. Okay. So they got kenneled kids, and they're super ugly. That's kind of witchy vibes. Do I see anything, like, magical or anything that, like, I recognize as being related to something that would tell me about these ugly women? Uh, maybe a history check. Maybe a history check. If I touch him on the shoulder, can I give him guidance, even though he's looking at it through his raven? Him looking at it through his raven, right? Yes, but it's not like he's working. He can ask you for assistance. So you can do the best. Yeah, so you've got to do it for him. Okay. You know with a 10 what these people are. It definitely, there's something definitely not right here. But you're not able to really specifically recall anything from what you've seen. You can tell on the floor, like, now that your raven's really looking around, like, the clothes that are scattered are like, Obviously, now to you, the clothes of other children. There's also small bones. So it's pretty obvious that it's a Hannibal Lecter situation and not an Epstein situation. Yeah. They're not diddling these kids. In fact, you see right next to them are two feed crates filled with breadcrumbs. Yeah, my first thought when I heard blood on the apron was, maybe old lady chopping people up and doing something with them. Do ravens have good senses of smell? That's a good question to find out. Ravens do not have a strong sense of smell compared to most mammals, but they are capable of detecting odors to locate food. They rely on their exceptional vision and keen hearing to navigate their environment most of the time. So your raven would have picked up if you're taking over all of its senses with your action. It smells like... It's been smelling faintly of baked goods the whole time. Baked goods? Like... Cakes or like biscuits? More like pastries, like biscuits, like bread. But it seems like their victims are all children, so we're probably okay. He might be true. He might mistake me. I mean, I've got a beard, but... I don't know if they'll take that, you know. He's old. Okay, I call my Raven back and then I discuss the party what was seen My first thought after the first lady even there I was like that first the old lady with the use of super weekly face and the bloody apron that immediately made me feel like there was enough going on here where I want to be higher level before we do anything But that's just me. You wanna know what? Be stronger. Yeah, be stronger. They just seem like... I mean, super old witches are usually very strong. If it's giving me witchy vibes and it's a super old lady with a bloody apron, I just feel like we may not be strong enough to deal with this. Have we heard any stories of people that capture children and bake baked goods? Yeah, I guess about what we've gleaned so far, right? So I guess after Uriel explains that, can we all do a history check to see if it's something we remember? Well, anything more about this kind of thing? As you go to say that there are old ladies in this mill making baked goods. Allegedly. Ismark is gonna actually say, so this is where they are. There are actually some hags that will come to the village and barter these pastries. to the villagers. They're called dream pastries. They will sometimes take children as parents. Now... It... yeah. What? I did not know that they were here. But it's not good news. In fact, it's even worse news than I thought previously. Why is it that bad? What's so bad about hags? So roll me a history check with advantage now that he has actually said they're hags. Can everyone? Yeah, anyone who's hearing this information can try that. From advantage you just rolled twice, right? I don't know. Well, hags are more... 13. 20. Nat 20? Nat 20. No, not a natural 20. A natural 20? Yeah, a natural 20. You said history? Uh-huh. 18. Your family doing well? Yes, ma'am. Good. So you guys would remember, because there was an 18 and an unnatural 20 in there. Hags often are more powerful in groups called covens. They're very popular. Not popular. They're a very well-known entity in the realms because of how many different kinds there are. But they all seem to like making barters, taking people's souls. Definitely very powerful magic. It's usually not good. What are the dream cakes, though? We got stuff. So? We could try to barter if they like to barter. You would probably be able to. Yeah. I mean, you can always stay with Isaac. So I heard the dream cakes put you in like this euphoric state for a time. Yeah, sure. The people of Barovia kind of use it like drugs. I heard they're good shit. I'm off of them. So it's basically like brownies. Like some good wheat brownies. Except for some mushroom chocolate. People like salvia in the brownies, sure, yeah. Oh, okay, someone like that. Salvia brownies, you know, so a little bit more dissociative, hallucinatory. Now, if you wanted to go buy them, I'm sure you could do that. I mean, they aren't on property. There's children in there. There's children in there. It would be... The good thing to do would be to go in there and clear the mountain out, but like I was saying, it scared me enough already. I was like, I feel like that's going to be a problem, and we know they're stronger in groups like this. We could try and lure them out one by one. Yeah, we could try and lure them out. I mean, I've got a little bit of some tricky stuff I can do. You could become a kid. Yeah, I could, like, pretend to be a kid because that doesn't last very long. Pretend to be a kid? Oh my god. With our history check with that dirty 20, is that enough to remember specific weaknesses or tactics we can use that would be particularly good against hags? Not that you know of. Not that I know of. I would kind of lean on the side of Gray and say, you know, we're not going to beat a coven of eggs right now. I mean, we know that. Not with the baggage that we have with us, for sure. Yeah, exactly. Because they could just get in the way, they might get scared, or they might end up getting caught. Right, and then we have to rescue them. Yeah, exactly. We don't want to necessarily just leave them outside, because who knows what happens while they're in there. I can't reason with them so I have to say with either of them if that's what y'all if y'all wanted to go interact with them well no the description of the moon cake or the dream cakes has removed all interest I have in trying to interact with them yeah so yeah I think it was a good idea to come and check it out but uh we're definitely not ready for this I'm okay with moving on at this point we were like wow Isik was right uh Definitely a place that we should stay away from for now. I'm putting in my to-do list. Yeah. Maybe this is something... This is something that we need to keep in mind and maybe once we go further along, maybe that's something we can ask for help for or tips for as we go along. We'll get him out of our bed. Make sure we prepare specifically for Bob and Bob and Bob. He ain't gonna be kidnapping chillins in my house, you know? Oops. We'll solve that problem. I feel bad for the kids that are in there now, but it would just make it worse. It's funny, I think your tenants, Travis, would not allow you to leave these kids in this windmill, but I won't. I won't. I haven't seen them. You know about them, though. He would have told you there's children in cages up there, but I'm not going to lie. Now that Richard's a paladin as well in the other campaign, I'm actually reading what your tenants are now. That's why I said I wouldn't be able to go up there. Protect the weak and never fear to act is such a hard ass tenet to have. I thought you'd be going in there. Duty is also a big one of them and I've already taken on the task of getting these guys to their place. Which is why I let your word be your promise, which is another one of your 10. So it's like honorable deeds. I can't keep that promise. If I died, these hags, these hags are going to keep abducting children. It's not a one time thing. So put them on the to do list, finish what I'm doing, come back, take care of these bitches. It's just funny how it's a lot of very interesting role play that that has. I was thinking of it. I figured you would, especially since you were here for the other conversation. Because I have mine written down where they are. It's pretty simple, though. Protect the weak and never fear to act as hard. It's whatever. So it would be kind of the end of the day, but you could traverse a little bit far enough away from this mill and then set up your camp again. Knowing now roughly what is at this level. So hit me with those two night rolls as you guys trade out again. I'll take first. I'm going to use my inspiration. Nothing happens with the sticks. Alright, Greg. We did a bit of that. Had some shaking going on with these rolls up here. Twelve. Twelve? Twelve? The knife goes out, or goes on, that is it. And in the morning I will play another song about how I need to fucking kill these hags. I know, but it's gonna be like a rage ballad. Sorry, today. We're gonna need some inspiration after having to leave that. Hitting us with a ballad. Okay. I respect it. You guys travel another two days. rules. happens with that incident. With y'all's night rolls. First this time. 12. 12. Y'all are good for the first four hours. 15. 15, y'all are good for the next hours. So, to get all the way... Let me see something here real quick. So to get where you guys are going, it's going to take one, two, bam, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. So it's going to take like roughly a week. So someone hit me with a single D20 roll for the next day of travel. Fourteen. Fourteen. Y'all are good. Hit me with your nighttime rolls. I'm going to use my inspiration. 15. 15, excellent. Five for me. I'll just keep that. Y'all are good. Y'all are good. So I'm going to have you with the next D20 roll for the next day. Well, I do wake up and play a very, very great song about how boring these days have been. I saw a really cool bird. It's good luck. You know? It's good luck. Use my inspiration. Use your inspiration kept to the roads. What can I fucking say? 19. 19. All right, let me look at something real quick. Sometimes you roll like a D100 then and it's like a list of encounters that you can have. Which is oddly sometimes the same for a nat 1. It's a shit list of encounters. So roll me 1D12 and 1D8. This is for a 19. 1D12. Like, just the total, or it's a three? The total is three? Holy shit. Hmm. Mm-hmm. One plus two is three. The more I look at it, the more I'm sure it's three. There were 12 sides on this one, eight sides on this one. Do you want to do something real quick? We have been just rolling. See, sometimes you can get a table for a good roll on the day and then get bad on it, and it's a bad thing. Getting bad on it is kind of a weird thing, that low. So you guys... You're the only one with a passive perception of 16, right? Yeah. This day, Gray is going to be the only one to see a dark figure crouch low and perfectly still, aiming a crossbow in the oddest direction in the forest. So I'm gonna notice this is this happening like just as we're walking today. Yes. All right. So I'm going to quietly mention this to everybody. Kind of like a whisper thing. And I'm going to start out saying, hey, nobody make any kind of sudden movements. I feel like there's somebody watching us. I'm going to start off like simple like that, not specifically say that somebody's pointing a crossbow at us. And After getting everybody's attention, I mean like, do I know which direction you said I saw this person? So I'm just going to say out loud, okay, whatever direction about how far, if you can fill us in on those, that information, is that something I can roll a perception check for? They're about like 60 feet away from you guys right now. Okay, so yeah, so I mentioned like somebody sitting within cross-country range of us about 60 yards or about 60 feet away. Taking aim at us. Yeah, like that. Or yeah, if I can tell whatever direction. So I'm going to mention that and I'm going to say everybody, I'm going to get on the opposite side of you so I'm hidden. And while we keep moving, I'm going to see if I can take aim and knock this guy out before he takes us down. Or takes a shot at us. That's what I want to do. I want to hide behind these guys in the caravan as they're moving or whatever. I want to hide behind them and see if I can get a shot at this guy while he doesn't see me. Make me a stealth check. While we're walking, I want to prepare for whatever's going to happen. Do you want to use my dice, Austin? You can use those dice and that. It's cool. 18 for myself. Very stealthy. Very stealthy. Now maybe your attack roll is advantageous. I use Bless. Yeah, give me a second. And I am using my short bow by the way. And with advantage. And blessed. And blessed, that's right. I showed the faith in myself and he blessed while we were getting ready for this. And I also kind of positioned myself between where Grace at the cross moment is and the people that we're protecting because that's how things are. Well, yeah, I mean, I'm going to be in front of all of y'all as far as that's concerned. But, yeah, I've got to let him take his shot. I'm not blocking Grace, but I am trying to. - 23.
- 23 definitely hits this individual.
- Does that little change good?
- More than all the chance.
- It's out of this country.
- Hold on a second here, since this is, would this be considered a sneak attack? - Yes. - Okay, so I get an extra, it says an extra two D6 right here. Okay, that's pretty nice. So, three total d6, that's crazy. Two, plus three, five, plus seven, plus two, seven, plus two, nine.
Nine total damage. Yeah, not that much, but still. free. He's going to be knocked back and he's not dead, but you can definitely tell that he was significantly wounded from that. If he is going to retreat. You are actually going to also notice another one that was a little bit farther away also retreat. All right. I'm going to ask out loud. Do we want to go after these guys or do we just want to be vigilant? I'm going to say that out loud. I'm going to mention... I hit him. He looks like he got hit pretty bad. Do you want to go after him? I saw one more. I'm just going to throw everybody on the situation. I don't know if we want to run off into the forest, but... I will mention, like, say that they did retreat, so... However, they know that we're here now, and they know they probably got to go look at us. Can I, like, try to see if I can see them in the tree lines at all? It's like they retreated, but can I see through the trees pretty clearly that they were just gone? Perception. 11. 11. Now that Gray pointed it out, you would be able to see their silhouettes very far away, but they are definitely booking it out pretty quick. I would mention that. I think we scared them off. Let's keep going and keep an eye out. We'll see if we see anyone else. We may have to be extra vigilant in our next couple of nights. All right. Yonk at those guys. Don't point across, but this is a group. They got in there like, who the fuck even hit us? So that was the daytime roll. As you guys camp, give me your two night time rolls. 13. 13. Are you all-- want to try to do that incident? I'm going to go ahead and use my Doesn't even hire. It was four. Four. I figured we're getting more inspiration. Inspiration is higher out of the two, right? Yeah. That'd be five. Still, you guys are good. I figure fives are still fine, but. Yeah. So. I will play another song. Someone roll me a B20. For the date travel or what? For this next date travel. 8. 8, y'all are good. Roll me your nighttime rolls. 10. 10, y'all are good. For the bad 4 hours. 14. 14, y'all are good for the next 4 hours. Alright, daytime roll. 2. 2, y'all are good. Roll me your nighttime rolls. I'm going to use my inspiration. Two. We're doing that a lot. I need a new D20. Are we good on that two? Mine's 19. Oh, 19. Roll me. Rick, what's your favorite D20? A D12 and a D8. D12 and D8? Mm-hmm. Total of 10. You gotta put this thing on the cup chair. You sit there and watch what it does. Should do. Both of those equally. Oh yeah. Use the, use the thing. Yeah, keep it in the tray. You got it, you got it. You really throw them. Very early in the morning, because that was your nighttime roll, right? Yeah, that was my night time roll. So as you are taking your watch, you are going to be accosted by five Dire wolves. I'm definitely going to start screaming first thing to wake everybody up as soon as it happens. Okay. So you guys are all up in your beds. Direwolves, huh? Offer them a 19 and a 10. That's brutal. Yeah. It's a chance for loot and XP, I guess. Yeah, yeah. We'll play some good loot. Five of them? Five direwolves, yes. I'm going to get these minions in here that I have for this. This, I'm pretty sure we should just offer them as no. Pretty well. Wolves? Direwolves, yeah. I just want to, because I'm going to look it up and just research it so I know what the fuck's going on. You're a hungry, vicious doggo. A dire wolf? Yeah. I wouldn't look at the stat block for it. What does that mean? You shouldn't look at what its health and stats are. I wouldn't necessarily Google dire wolf, but I can have you roll a history check and see if you like... Yeah, let's just do that because I need to know a little bit about him. I mean, like, in terms of D&D stuff. I know what they are in general. For sure. Just in terms of... Roll me the history check. Oh, man, of course. It's a freaking three. I got a ten. Five total. Five total. Fourteen. Fourteen. Ten. Ten. So, Earndell... You know, Irindel would be able to enlighten the group, especially if it's appropriate, being the druid. Direwolves, like many other wolves, are good at, like, pack tactics and things like that. They get stronger while in groups. But, you know, just like regular wolves, they'll try to just eat your face off. Am I able to... communicate with them at all, express that we're not a threat and we don't want to fight them. Do you have like, speak with animals? Yeah. That's true, I also have that. One of something like that. I could potentially help. No, I'm confused. I have speak with animal twice for some reason. You might have it as like a... I think, because I have it from known, but for some reason both of them say I have it from being a known. I know it was a druid, but I had like... Speak animal language. And then I think I also have speak with animals. Really? Like you have like an animal speak kind of trait? Yeah, I'm trying to find that right now. I found the spell. I definitely have speak with animals, but... Where is it? Abilities, saves, and sentences, extras, notes, features, and traits. Hmm. You know Druidic can always have Speak with Animals prepared. You can use Druidic to leave a hidden message. Languages, I swear it's where it was. Maybe I just said something like that on my character. I'll just use the ability and figure that out later. Do we like successfully wake up and see the wolves? If Gray wanted to wake you guys up, he would be able to do so easily. He said he did wake us up, right? Yeah. Yeah, because my first thing that I said was I was going to like yell at everybody. I'm going to use level two. There's a lot of dire wolves. To identify which one is the pack leader and speak to it directly. Okay. And express that we're just traveling through. We don't want any trouble. and see if there's anything like that they're giving back or saying back. Making an animal handling check with advantage. As you're speaking with it, or speaking, looking at this pack and trying to see which one's the leader as well. Where does animal handling fall under? wisdom, I think. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, plus three. Okay. 14 14 For the 14 you can identify the one in the very middle. He's definitely he's a little bit bigger As you go to speak with him What are you saying? What did you say to him? We're just traveling through. We don't want to mean any harm. He's going to say hungry. We have food. We will share. I'm going to look at you and what food are you presenting? That's where I turn to the group. Tell them that, hey, we can feed them to make them leave. Awesome. What have we got? Do we know any specifics of what kind of food we have? My first thought would be if we had any kind of preserved meat, that would be what I would offer. You have rations. Now, what rations are exactly are a bit... ambiguous I'd say dried meat would be a pretty reasonable thing to have rationed in your bag so if you guys wanted to present them like we do have that like armor right that we have like leather armor in our inventory right in our shared inventory they're dogs so If we're not using it, they might consider that at least a chew and be assuaged. I mean, I'd say definitely maybe offer some of them, offer them some of the dried meat, whatever dried meat we have, and then, because, yeah, because there is definitely some leather stuff we haven't earned in the tour that we're not using. Okay. So you're offering it, or you're offering them leather armor? Jables doesn't seem sold on this yet. Well, I mean, we can offer them some leather armor and some rations on it. - Just have to keep enough lashes to make it to the town. You can always figure out a way to get more there.
- You guys have been traveling for a decent amount of time.
- That's true. We're pretty close to... - We're not far. - Yeah, we're pretty close. This would be like a day or two. And yeah, I think that'd be okay. Yeah, I'd say let's just offer whatever we can. Maybe even if we take kind of what we have and maybe we don't need to have the dried meat at all for the next couple of days, maybe we would just offer up all of that to them.
It's gonna take us like two days. I think we need at least one more day's worth of food. Yeah. For ourselves. But other than that... It has been a pretty decent amount of travel. You guys would start like with 10 to 12 rations in your pack. Eat, right? Yes. Did we get to bomb any off the Vistani when we were traveling with them? They fed you so you wouldn't have been consuming your own rations. That's all after that. No. Similarly to when you were... The village of Barovia, you were being fed by the Burgomaster, or at least his sons. I wouldn't have had to consume it then, but... So how many would we have consumed in this time from 10? I'm thinking it's been at least seven days. And rations last, what, one day? You can go without food for three plus con modifier consecutive days. Unless you want to say something different. Nope, that's reasonable. But y'all would be down to like only two or three rations left, especially after this day? So I could go without food for five days. But I probably would have been eating at least every two or three. Just because I'm going to keep up this boyish figure. Lord have mercy. So I'm hearing that we're somewhere around six rations left. Based on the math. Between all of you guys? Yes. Between all of us? We have 10 each. 10 each and it's been like 7 days? Right. So we would have only eaten 2 or 3. You're not eating rations every day? No. Why? We're traveling like across this huge place with 10 rations. A place that we know isn't going to have a whole bunch of resources for us. I'm going to eat as little. You think I keep this figure by eating every day? Like I said, I could go every five, but I'm eating every two. Because I like food. You can't keep me, you know, I'm snacking on that. I'm going to look more into the implications of that, but I'm going to accept it. Because malnutrition doesn't hit until a couple of days in, right? So that's all you're trying to avoid. Because we're eating well in town. It also does say rations includes jerky. Yeah, it would make the most sense for rations to include jerky. All right. Yeah, yeah. So, how many exactly are you offering these wolves? If you guys all have six, as you say. Well, Travis says he has seven. Right? He used three. I mean, if y'all have six, I'll just do six. I'm not going to watch y'all eat. I can't do that. I mean, I was also going to do seven. We'll do six because, you know, Grace wanted us at six total. So, that's already a victory. We'll call that a win. That's what we offer to the direwolves. Make me another animal handling check with advantage. Can I give you guidance? Sure. And also, do I need to... I'm going to add the dealer to the other one. At some point, I have to also use speak with animals, by the way, so that I can be communicating with them while we're doing this. I also have that. I've been trying to look into it. I think the way that it is... The reason I have it twice is I can use it for my spell slots, or I can also just use it One per, like one for each, no, no, it's like for every long rest it's once per, what is it saying? A number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. Oh, per long rest. Interesting. Is that because you're a... It's because I'm a forest gnome. Oh, okay, forest gnome. Yeah, it's a forest gnome. That tracks. I was about to say, what an arcane Christian. So I can just use it a couple of times because I have the proficiency and my proficiency bonus is two right now. But then I can also just use it for my spell slots and I have two. That's why I was really confused why it was showing twice, but that explains that. I've been spending the last, like, ten minutes trying to figure that shit out. You're good. Iridel, though, would be able to, like, present the leather armor and then all of the meat. I think his leather armor would be a good fucking chew toy regardless. I'm sure they'll enjoy that. I guess the leader's going to look at it. Maybe the leader will modify it and wear it. They're going to go to claim all of it. And they're gonna leave. Sorry, Grace. Sorry, Grace. I mean, that's fine. That's fine. I now know what I need to do. These five direwolves will not be eviscerating you guys today. Does anybody have a blue lighter? Thank you, Shem. That was basically the end of our long rest, right? Yeah, that was. Because it was early morning, that was the end of mine. That was. So that was happening like at sunrise. Yeah, we're woken up, but nothing strenuous happened, so you were able to complete your long rest. At the end of the long rest, I will then be playing a song about the wolves and about the feast that they're about to have. I'm happy they're not hungry anymore. That they're not, at least these ones are not. These fools are not hungry anymore. Yeah. Alright, someone give me a D20 for the day. Gotta give the boys the inspiration. Boy and girl. The gang. The boys, the gang. Who's doing the D20 for the day? Do we want it to be? I got you. Oh, there it goes. It's a four. Roll it in the box. I don't roll it in the box, but it was a four. You're right, you're right, because it's five. Five? Your day happens with that incident. Roll me your night rolls. Let me use my inspiration. 20, Nat 20. Nat 20. Nice. Hey, man, those wolves were inspiring as far as music writing goes. When did you get Grant? Oh, I didn't sign up. Oh, well, for the Nat 20s, roll me the D12 and the DA. Hold off on that Nat 20. Do I have a D12? You should. You should. It's a Pentagon-looking... D12 and a what? 8. D8. It's like a diamond. Diamond. Smaller. Triangle. This one? 9. Combined. I'm combining them. So this is my DA. Yeah. So you are going to be accosted by four swarms of We're in that 20 and a nine. I get batted. Yeah. This is a weird place. The stillness of the night is shattered by the shriek of bats and the flapping of tiny black wings. The fuck is going on? Can I use Sacred Flame? Yeah, you absolutely can, but they are going to attack you without provocation, so... Right, that's what the hell, you know? That's why I'm flaming them. Are you, like, yelling as you flame them? I'm yelling. I'm bats everywhere. I'm calling for my raven. Do we wake up to the commotion of the yelling? If she's yelling, 100%. You would hear Iridel fighting these bats in the middle of the night. Just swearing up a storm. Just all kinds of curse words at these bats flying in her face. Iridel, go ahead and I guess I would have to roll the dex save. These bats, they fail your dex save, so roll me the damage for this one swarm of bats you're targeting. There are four. They're coming at you right now. Uh, two. Two? Okay. You're going to hit the swarm of bats. All of them are going to take attacks against you. As a swarm, they're going to make four of their attacks. Yeezus. What's yours, Heath? 14. So it's going to be three hits and a miss. So overall, the bats are going to deal 15 piercing damage to you in their barrage of attacks as they're flying past you. 15 damage? Overall, 15 piercing damage between those three hits. Okay, so I'm bloody. That would be made aware of it. right i'm not just oh yeah you can you can definitely anytime you're bloody okay you can yeah and now i just wanted to make sure you know oh yeah and now austin and jables would be able to jump up and head out of their tents and also make me attacks against these four storms of bats however you would do that okay i'm trying to figure out what would be best So it doesn't really matter whether I use ranged or not. It's just a matter of whether the dice roll hits. Ab so fucking lilly. Okay. You just parsed D&D down to its bare essentials. Roll well and it doesn't matter what the hell you do. Just thinking, because bats flying around, probably it would be easier to just like... They're like right above you, but I could also in this game just use my short bow and be like shooting them out of the air right above me. Absolutely. That's what I'm going to do. I'm just going to wake up and I'm going to immediately start doing that shit. You're through attack rolls. And we are blessed still, correct? Is that a thing? Don't believe so? Because everyone was asleep up until this point? I think this is cash, but you can try that. Cool. If you wish. Always ask. I'm just going to go ahead and roll. I'm going to make the assumption that you're attacking the swarm that has been attacked last, unless otherwise specified. My roll is a nine. Nine to hit? Nine. You do not hit these bats. Jack, you do not hit these bats. I'm going to use my inspiration roll again, if I can do that. Yeah. Absolutely. It's a heaven. Really? And it's an 8. That's crazy. Well, damn it. I guess I'm not giving it an 8. Was the bicycle an 8 or was it added everything an 8? Added everything. Oh, Christ. Yeah. Oh. So it was added everything together 9 and then an 8 after. Yeah. I was hoping that I had some AOE, but I don't, you know, Jables doesn't have a water fireball, so. I know. Why do I give you those things? Why do I give anyone any of their fucking magic items? I wonder. Magic items are so good. I will swing at, I guess, the swarm that was hit last. And while I'm swinging, I'll use one of my channel divinities for sacred weaponry. Excellent. Hit me with the attack roll. Thank you. Not a crit, but it's gonna end up hitting. You want me to roll the math? Yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. I mean... Uh, 18... Is it? Oh, yeah, that hits. Yeah, that hits, that hits. For sure. 30-20. That hits. I assume the bats didn't have that kind of AC. No, no. And I will, uh... He, he, he smited. Okay. The demos. I think I still only have... Cough How far are we from each other? Not very far at all. So that would be two... Maybe ten feet away from each other. That's an important distinction. Fifteen feet? Sixteen feet? Fourteen feet?
- 13 feet, actually 10 feet, 10 feet.
Gotta ask, you know. You do, you do. I'll just do radiant all throughout since I can with my sacred weapon. How much damage? It'll be 16 radiant. Oh, you explode that swarm of bats. You downed it three swarms of bats. Excellent job. Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah. I look towards the next closest swarm of bats. Oh, good. Have your AI be able to determine how many times he spits per session. Count the spits. Per session and continuation. Through each, like, through up to now. In fact, graph it, you know? Like, I want to see the trend over time. Lord have fucking mercy. That is going to take it to... Here Adele, you're getting swarmed by these bats. What are you doing? They're all around you. Jables did take out one of them, but the other three are still very much having it out for you. What are you doing? Let me check something real quick. Why not? We're doing theater of the mind combat with these. That was good. That was good. I forgot that that was my bonus action, you know? Well, for my action, I'm going to use Guiding Bolt. Very good. Maybe you got that wrong. 24. 24 definitely hits. Definitely hits. 16 damage. That's radiant, I believe. Fuck yeah, you explode another swarm of bats. They're going to each take their two attacks against you, Iridel. The two remaining ones. That dice is right there. I don't have any available cantrips to use. or abilities to use for my bonus action.
- You say that, what about shield? It mentions that in casting time it's one reaction which you take when you are hit by an attack roll or targeted by the magic missile. - It's not gonna happen during-- - Yeah, that's true. - It'll be doing someone else's. So your reaction is a ban. - That's true, yeah, it makes sense.
There's two weird interactions when you start thinking about... 23 and a 19? To hit? Both hit. These bats are going to continue to swarm you, Iredell. They only combine 12 piercing damage to you. And I'm unconscious. That takes it to you guys. You're seeing here they'll get really swarmed by these two remains. I don't have a way to... I'm going... Question, if they're not swarming me, if they've been focused on Iridel, does that mean that my attack would be a sneak attack by just shooting my bow against them? In this instance, yes. And any time you have advantage, you can sneak attack. Even if you're not necessarily being sneaky. Sneaker, sneaker. So as long as you can give yourself advantage. Yeah, because again, it does say if you don't get advantage, at least one of my elves is going to fight for you in the market. Also, yes. Absolutely that applies. I'll grab a... I'll put my greatsword in my hands instead of my longsword and my shield. I'm going to swing at one of these bats real quick. Okay, here you hit the roll. Probably pro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It don't matter which bat. It don't matter which bat. The roll is a... 19. It definitely is. - That happens on whatever current weapon. I never switched weapons when I had sacred weapons on.
- One of these told was-- - What's your thought?
- I have sacred weapon lasts for 10 minutes when I do it. But, you know, just with weapons.
- Can you drop the concentration on it? - No. - Or is it a concentration?
- It's one weapon that you are holding, but it doesn't say-- - I don't frequently get liquid, though, so. - What do you think about when you switch that?
- I wouldn't know if they have more, but I swear that does happen a lot. Where like one retailer will just pick up a flavor that they haven't had before.
- I just was curious if I can tell it to be radiant damage.
- 'Cause it sounds like you can't activate it until it's in your hands, but it doesn't say that it-- - Right, right, right.
- You actually need your hands. - Right. Oh, you know, it was a lie anyway. So that'll be four radiant damage to one of the groups of bats. - Okay. And then for my bonus action, I'll lay on hands Iridale for 10.
Excellent. Iridale's back. The bats are... - Definitely. Actually, no. No, because I only get the spells back after a long rest. And I wouldn't have a long rest after this, necessarily. Well, we're going to be long resting. That's true, yeah. Because we can just extend our stay. Because I think I have a chance of doing more damage if I do... I have a chance of doing more damage, I think, if I do Chromatic Ward. So I'm going to use my Chromatic Ward. No, Chromatic Ward is sick. Yeah, so I'm going to use that. Is there any... D20 roll. I was going to say, is there a... Is there a type of damage that would be particularly good against bats? Can I do like a history check and know that? I don't know if they have any specific. Because if not, they're definitely getting fire. Fire is always a good option. Yeah, probably just do fire. I'm going to go ahead and roll my d20 and... Is it 14? Definitely is. - 11, we fired it.
- You obliterate once more with that.
- Were any of those the same dice or doubles?
- Oh, actually. - Or matters were dramatic work?
- No, it was a four, a one, and a six. - Really? What does the doubles do? - It can bounce between targets. - Oh, right, right, right, yeah. - Maybe all the same number on two or more, okay. - Yeah, so I expelled a one, I believe it can bounce one.
One swarm of bats remaining, Iridale, and I take it to you. I mean, one swarm of bats, I think the only responsible thing to do is do another guiding bolt. That was effective. That was very effective. Six, but it was off of one. I think I'm just going to do inspiration. Can I do inspiration? You got it, yeah. It's literally the same. 2-9-1? That's... You just rolled 2-9-1. Yeah. So 6, but... Yes. Want me a D-100? Can I have the golf ball? You absolutely can. You don't trust the online diet? No. Why not? You know? That's ridiculous. You even have a crazy roll stat with that shit. 74, I think? Yeah. Yeah, 74. Hmm. That's what I've seen. For the 74... You'll simply have the spell fail. Okay. I'm going to hit your friend in the back of the head for crit max damage. Although that would tickle me. I think considering what just happened to you, that kind of makes sense that your spell might fail. Even when inspired, I couldn't do anything. And we were just talking about the chance of getting two net ones on an inspiration bucket. Holy shit. But this last one we're back is going to take its attack against you. I want to dab after that. I'm kidding, thanks. It's going to net 20, you unfortunate little adult. Bad news, it's only going to deal 10 damage to you. Bad news, you had 10 health. Bad news, you were only at 10. Wait, did I not get my bonus action? You get a bonus action. Oh yeah, what was your bonus action? It would be to cry. Okay. That's a free action. And then I take the 10 damage and pass out. You can pass out. You can pass out. Do you think it's Gray and Jables' turn? Who's first? I think I actually went first the first time, but then you went first the second time. It's a loose initiative because we're doing the Herb of the Mind get ambushed to the night by Vets. We didn't actually specifically roll initiative. I mean, I don't want to use my spell slot. Off of nat 20. I'm going to save it. It's the final battle. I'm gonna see if I can shoot that shit out of the air and if I can do this shit I'm just gonna hit it in the fucking forehead. Okay, give me the rope. Let's see what happens here. Actually, you know what? Give me a real fucking dice. Where's the d20? Give me a real fucking dice. You want this jammin'? Those are d20s. 17 and then it's plus 4 plus 4 so 21 and then uh let's see 7 damage. That is just enough to take this last swarm of bats out as they're about to go down on the iridel, which leaves you guys to run camp. Good job. I'll, uh, lay on hand's iridel for a 1 so they can get back up. You do get back up with 1 point of exhaustion for going down several times in succession. This happened after the first half of the night. How much am I at? And then I have exhaustion on top of that, right? Yes. How much do you land on? We're at one health for now, but we're about to long rest. Okay, cool. Yeah, yeah. I was going to say, because this happened the first half of the night, can we just, like, do a long rest and I'll do a four-hour watch? And then at that, well, I guess, yeah, I can do, well. You guys were all interrupted from your sleep, so everyone would need eight hours. Yeah, that's true. If we want to do it. Your doll just particularly got her ass... I really need eight hours. I really, really need my beauty rest. I got blood all over my face. I didn't actually get hit at all, so I would be okay with doing, like, staying up and not getting a long rest now and waiting until we get to the town to do a long rest for me. Well, you can still long rest. I mean, you get to rest for eight hours. That's true. You don't have to necessarily be asleep. I could be... Could I be awake doing my watch during long rest and still get the long rest? Yes. Okay. Yes. That kind of is how these watches and stuff works too. I wasn't sure about that. Technically, the only thing that constitutes a rest is like non-strenuous. A long rest takes eight hours with nothing too strenuous for more than one hour of that. Okay. Okay, cool. So. It just makes sense that you would sleep at least some, some days. Because if you don't sleep, then the DM usually will hit you with some exhaustion. Yes, but y'all have been sleeping at least four hours and taking four hours off. Okay, cool. I wasn't sure about that. More than enough. Which I've been trying to look on here. It doesn't look like it says anything on this one. How, is it just one night of sleeping gets rid of one point of exhaustion, or what? Yes, one long rest gets rid of one exhaustion. So Iridel could sleep throughout this night. Oh yeah, there it says, reduce exhaustion level by one. And be fine, health and exhaustion wise. Oh, it says if food and water are consumed, reduce exhaustion level by one. Yeah. So that's also the rations coming. Yeah. So you have to have a ration to reduce exhaustion level. Yeah, which you guys thankfully didn't use all of your rations last time. I'd say so. So as you guys head back to sleep, someone make me a D20 roll for the first four hours. I guess that's great, yeah? Mm-hmm. Got it. Three's probably fine. Yeah, no, you're good. Three, nothing happens. Still, all these super low rolls are scary. And is Iridel staying asleep for the entire eight hours? So maybe the next roll, Greg? I mean, if Greg needs to sleep, I mean, it wouldn't really be nighttime anymore, would it? No, because I could wake up and do the watch. Yeah, yeah. So J. Will's going to have the second roll. Even until noon roll 11 11 you're good with an 11 and everyone is able to sleep We made it On a nat 20. Like I said, sometimes it can be weird. It's weird. So you want to get those middle of the roads. 15, 16, 17. A polarizing sign of the vice is something fucking weird. Those bats didn't even drop anything for us. They should have at least had some gold or something. Scratched my face. Can we turn them into rations? Bats are edible. Can we turn the rats into rations? If you wanted to try to give me a survival check and see how well you're able to, you know. I'm saying bats might be a little bit. Who wants to do a survival check? Because you would have to prep the meat from the bats. I've got pretty good survival, like decent survival. I'll give you guidance. All right. So that's a plus D4, yeah? Yeah. Why doesn't it look bad? 13, 18, 21. 21. You're able to dress a decent amount of these bats. You know, there were four overall swarms. Roll me four D10s. You said four? Correct. Do you want to loan me one? Take the one with the eyeball. That's three. I have another one. You're able to claim 12. Alright, so we get 12 rations. Does it directly translate to 12 rations? I'll say they directly translate to 12 rations. Okay. So, forage? Forage. It's not the best meat, but it'll get the job done. How many total do we have now? So if you had, I mean, if we had all just eaten one with Iridel, when she ate one for her exhaustion, we'd all be at seven with these. Because we all had four, ate one to three, gained four. Cool. Cool. Okay, so we'd all be at seven now. All right. As y'all approach what you would know on your map to be the town of Hulaki, you'd see the old spotless road meandering into a valley watched over by dark brooding mountains to the north and south. The woods recede, revealing a sullen mountain bird surrounded by a wooden palisade. Thick fog presses up against this wall as though looking for a way inside, hoping to catch the town a slumber. The dirt road ends at a set of sturdy iron gates with a pair of shadowy figures standing behind them. Planted in the ground and flanking the road outside the gates are a half dozen pipes with wolves' heads impaled on them. That would be what you see as you approach the town. Well, sounds like they don't like wool. But I think we definitely need to stop in this town anyway, so. Well, in a band of our long rest, I do play the song about bats. The song about bats. Roll me a performance check. Okay. I'll write a performance check. 22. You regale them with the song of bats. And they get inspiration. I know they probably already had inspiration, but they get inspiration again. Double inspiration. But, uh... Inspiration's weird. Continue down the road or go actually in the Blackie? Do we want to at least stop in or maybe we should talk to two brothers about this town before we go in because they obviously live in this area so they kind of they should know something about Velaki. Yeah we were bringing the dude to Velaki because it's allegedly the most ...count against Strahd, like it's the place... Oh, that's right, we were bringing... Been the most fortified... Where were we going to do? If I know that is Crest, we're in Malachy. Yeah, we're just on the way there. Kill me. Yeah, we're like halfway there. Put me in the dirt. Put me... Put me back with the bats, dude. I'm gonna go hang out with the wolves. Do we know anything about this town? Yeah, let's ask, like they said, let's grasp one good point. You guys, if you're going to ask, that's my bad. Ask them if it's worth staying in this town or if we should just mosey on them. Make me a persuasion check. Whoever wants to do it with advantage because you guys have been pregnant for that long. We should know. We know by now it's not me. Not when it's persuasion. I got 19. 19. I got a 22. Wow, excellent. What's your persuasion, brother? Plus 5. Oh, we have the same. Okay. So with that, With that. Ismark is going to be able to provide you guys with some gossip he's heard from people in the town of Verrovia. He would be able to tell you that people say sometimes that you can see purple flashes of light from the third floor of the Burgomaster's mansion. From the attic, actually. The Burgomaster's mansion in Vallaki? Did Burgomaster have a mansion in a bunch of places? There is a burgomaster in each one of these towns. It's kind of like the mayor. That term directly translates to mayor in German. In German? Yeah, because "Burg" is like "city." "Burger" is "master." So the "meister" is the master of the city. Yeah. I also know that other than the burgomaster, there's a lady named Lady Fiona who is another powerful entity. Sometimes It's said that she's trying to usurp the Burden Master, but she would deny it if you asked her outright. like some sitting jamba we don't necessarily want to do that too. But other than that, we don't know too much about Galecki. You know, if you're asking whether or not we should go there, it might not be bad to maybe find a respite from the wilderness for a day or two before continuing our travels. Maybe find a hotel, maybe look for some shops and see if we can offhand some equipment. Because I've got a crossbow that I'm not using at all because... We have 60 silver and 11 gold. We got a heavy crossbow, chain shirt. Oh yeah, I'm seeing that. Ivory hairbrush. Yeah, we got some stuff disappeared. You got some stuff. You have the silver shorts on, right? Just to confirm, when we got that jewelry box that had the stuff in it, that stuff disappeared, right? So a lot of the stuff that you took from the bedrooms, so if it's something you took from a bedroom, yes. I know you got... Like a fancy Koeman shit from, like, the dungeons. All of that cult shit you got from the dungeons would be alright. Okay, so the silver jewelry box is gone. Yeah. That's the one I was still checking off. That was from the desk. Yeah. Deep to the house and deep to the window are still good. Okay. Yeah. Gertrude's malformed doll is no fun, is no blunty. Every time I see it in the notes. We've got two crossbows in the inventory, and I've got a crossbow on me. Actually, no, one of them, I think you've got one of the crossbows. I have a strong crossbow. Yeah, I haven't been using my crossbow at all because I think for no reason I don't have efficiency with it. I only have that with the shortbow. Is that right? I mean, I haven't really been using my crossbow at all either, because I've been using spells, but... I don't know. It might be worth having. Yeah, but we'd have the extra heavy regardless that's just sitting there. We can sell. You have the heavy? We didn't have... Okay. I thought we had more that were already in people's inventories, but I could be wrong. I did not start with a crossbow, no. Ray would have been one of the only classes who could have chosen a crossbow as their starting equipment. So then we would have had three total. That makes sense. So then, yeah, that's the distribution. I just remember we picked them up when we were in the dad's room before we went back down. All right. We do have that change shirt. For sure. Yeah. We know when you guys are ready to approach Blackie. I think you guys are taking stock of what you've got, which is a good thing to do. I think before we go into the town, I'd like to go to the restroom. We can take a quick fiver. It is six, which is good. Let's take a quick fiver. Thank you. And I do have my sister going to feed my cat at seven, so we can play honestly as late as we need to, especially since I showed up so late this time. No, you're good. Yeah, don't tempt me now. I'll play late. I'll play late. I was very unsure what you guys were going to do with the carriage, but y'all's reactions never cease to amaze me. I like how Mai super bluntly, like, well, I mean, we were going to go somewhere else. We weren't really planning on going that way. And she was just like, all right, and fucked off. I can't believe that shit worked. Oh, my God. It needed to work. I wonder what stressed out people are doing. Shit. Is God's day okay? It's Sunday? I did have these guys stressed out about bats just a moment ago, but that's a different game. I wasn't stressed out. It was only Javis like. For some reason, the bats didn't want to attack me. Well, they had someone, you know, the initial target. They were going to run him down. They almost did. This Daiso, pulling it out, the Nat 20s. I need to get another set from this maker. This came all the way from China. I didn't know it was fucking on Etsy. All right. It took two months to come. Didn't think it was going to come. It's good because I've been accused of having to be weighted now several times. Only time I ever ordered something from Etsy Never showed up. And then I messaged the person and they were like, oh sorry, we'll send it soon. And then I did that a couple more times and they never messaged back and then apparently the seller got fucking banned so I had to contact support and they were like, well yeah, I guess we'll give you a refund. It took like eight months for the whole shit to play out. I was trying to order some keycaps for a mechanical keyboard for my little brother for the number keys with Dragon Balls were on them. I almost 3D printed that. You have to get the measurements like exactly fucking right to actually fit on your keyboard. These had like... That was very close. ...translucent like proper, little proper Dragon Balls on there that were like glued on top. They were like enormous and oversized like ridiculous keycaps that kind of were like... It wouldn't actually make sense on a real keyboard. You would absolutely be fumbling on that shit. Actually, you know, for numbers that might actually help, especially if you're gaming, to have them... Have them be huge? Have them be huge and more... I was going to print out 1 through 7, and I actually got this translucent orange resin. Ended up doing other things with it because the keycaps were terrible. I needed to perfect the actual method of printing. And then the different kinds of colored resins apparently have really... Sometimes different exposure times, and then you're having to figure that out, but... That's a dream of mine, though. The Dragon Balls. There's so many really cute fucking people. They're playing in the main room, too, so it'll be fucking big. That's my plans this weekend. I'm going to Spidal on Saturday night, I believe. Fuck yeah. Fuck yeah. Or like this next weekend? This coming weekend. Oh, nice. Weekend after that, reminder, I will be gone for our next session, so we need to either skip it and do... We'll skip it. We'll skip it. Just do two weeks after that. With my other group, because there's five, if we're missing one person, we'll still fuck around. But, like, since there's three of y'all, if any of y'all is gone, we'll skip it. I don't know, Javid, I mean, we'll ask. If they want to do some twosome shenanigans, I'll play D&D every fucking day if I had the option to, uh, But I have a sickness. I'm surprised y'all were able to dissuade those wolves from trying to attack you guys. That would have also been a very interesting encounter. Five dire wolves. I'm sure y'all would have been fine, but... I like how we decided to try to talk to the wolves, but we didn't try to talk to the bats. You're probably still going to talk to the bats. They're mammals. You're right. They were a bit more on-site, though. They were attacking us. Fucking Iredell before Iredell was fully aware that there was bats around. I kind of wish I had used that shit to curse him out or something at least. Curse you out in bat before I feel it. I have to remember that shit, yeah. Curse him out in bat as I throw flaming chromatic war battles. Bat is funny as shit. You speak to animals to hear their screams as they die? They burn alive from my fiery... It's too metal. I'm tempted to be able to eat the other one of those and see how it tastes. I'll pass it back to you. - Got this cookies and cream, which doesn't really taste like cookies and cream at all in my opinion.
- It tastes so much better in my opinion than cookies and cream.
- It tastes more like, honestly it tastes more turby, it tastes more like a strain that's called cookies and cream or something maybe.
Thanks, Dubeb. But also, this one's starting to clog up already, too, as well. I know, I don't know why those are so good, and then, like, I even had an issue, I'll warn you, I plugged one of my, like, laptop chargers into it to charge it, and, like, the fucking charger, it must have bled, like, to the bottom, because, like, the charger had the resin on it. It has the dab on it, or whatever. Yeah. Shit, that's an extremely accurate flavor description. Right? Isn't it? What the fuck? You should have that one as well. Don't even actually look at the flavor. Just taste it and tell me what it fucking tastes like because holy shit. I thought that too when I tasted it a moment ago. What the fuck? I even still have the other flavor in my mouth. It was so perfect. Wow. I haven't even had one of those in such a long time. No, no. It's very rare that the flavors are bad. Alrighty. Thanks for your patience. I guess actually without reading it, it might be hard to do it, especially if you haven't had one in a while. It's a nostalgic flavor. Is that the apple juice? Never let me let that down. I was never. That one was wild. Yeah, if you were never. Biggest? Me neither, really, but. For whatever reason, it does stick out distinctly as one. I've been blasted and I wonder why. I have a drug habit, guys. It's a natural human condition. I know. It's beautiful. So, you would find yourself in this town right now. And you would be able to enter, although the guard... funny as you enter yeah we're probably used to that are they cute jesus these ones in particular no okay i let them look at me funny it's pretty normal for me You guys would see. ...seeing a large stockyard which has several locked sheds along its periphery... periphery? Periphery. Periphery, sorry, that word baffles me. ...and lies adjacent to a roomy warehouse. A wooden sign above the front gate reads, Arsek Stockyard. Parked at the south end of the stockyard is a sturdy carnival wagon... Its colorful painting peeled off, fading. Faded lettering on its sides spells out the words, "Rictavio's Carnival of Wonders." A heavy padlock secures the back door. As you're walking through the town, you would notice this carnival wagon and the stockyard. John continue on your way or would you approach it? I want to say I think our first priority is just trying to find a hotel. I'm definitely going to take note of this thing. Maybe it's something that come back to once we've established a home base. I don't know about you guys, but. I wander around the town, you know, kind of see what's there makes sense to me. Next thing you guys would see We would also walk past an uninviting shop, two stories tall, and has a sign shaped like a coffin above the front door. All the window shutters are closed up tight, and a deathly silence surrounds the establishment. I assume we would walk right past the coffin maker as well. Yeah, we're just gonna... Probably, it's going up here. Town Square, which is this kind of little area right here. The shops and homes that enclose the town square are decorated with limp, tattered garlands and painted wooden boxes filled with tiny dead flowers. At the north end of the square stands a row of stocks, locked in which are several men, women, and children wearing crude, plastered donkey heads. In the center square, peasants in patchwork clothes eye you suspiciously as they use cups and vases to draw water from a crumbling stone fountain. Standing tall at the center of the fountain is a gray statue of an impressive man facing west. All around the square are posted proclamations. Come one, come all to the greatest celebration of the year, Wolf's Head Jamboree. Attendance and children required. Pikes will be provided. All will be well with the parents. What? What kind of heads did you say the people in the stocks were wearing? Plaster what heads? Plaster donkey heads. And there are men, women, and children locked up in like... In the stocks? Yeah, so literally... Like this plastered donkey heads. There are about five or six of them in total. People just like on looking. Yeah, people walking around getting water looking at them being like, huh? I'm doing about their business, but. We don't see anyone just like standing there staring at them. It looks like normal. No one in particular. So it's mostly being ignored, just kind of like it's a fixture for the day or whatever. How are Ismark and Ivan reacting to this? They're looking at them like, uh, you're the burgomaster. Doesn't like it when people speak out against the Salvation Army. Okay. Well. Am I going to have to put the Burger Master on the list? Is that what's going to have to happen? Is an excellent question. We might have to do a lot of cleaning up of this area on our way back from dropping off. Ivan's scared. Yeah, we might have to go on a cleanse. A cleanse, you say? A crusade, some might. Is there any obvious place around here that looks like it would be like a hotel or a place to stay or something like that? No, but as you continue to look around, so... I was going to say, if we can just continue walking through past this without getting disturbed, then we're going to, I'd say we're probably going to do that. For sure. We may wait until we actually got down to the vicinity to say what we just said. As you continue on, you are going to notice another shot that catches y'all's eye. This cramped shop has a dark entrance portico, above which hangs a wooden sign shaped like a rocking horse, with a B engraved on both sides. Flanking the entrance are two arched lead-framed windows. Through the dirty glass you see jumbled displays of toys and hanging placards bearing the sign, IS NO FUN, IS NO BELINSKY. Okay, well, we have to go in that store. Doesn't have to be right now, but it's on the list. So, you guys would consider... It's from Moaning Mary's kids. Yeah, her name's Gertruda, or doll, that we took from her. Her daughter's name is Gertruda. Yeah. The doll's name is malformed. Doll's name is whatever you want it to be. Malformed. That's stitched into the doll's dress. Yeah. Do, wait, do Ivan and Ismark, do they know? I ask him, like, hey, have you ever heard that phrase before? Oh, we know Belinsky toys are common amongst Berobian children. They have very little else that they can play with, or anyone. Let's just say there's no one else in Berobia currently who takes the time or cares enough to make children's toys, albeit that they're often... Not super pretty. Just cool to know it's a toy brand at least, though. Because I was very confused as to what the hell that meant. But I guess, is no fun, is no Blensky. So if it's not fun, it's not the Blensky. It's not a Blensky toy. Totally makes sense. So as you guys continue down towards this larger building... You would then see gray smoke issuing from a chimney of this two or this large two-story wooden building with a stone foundation and a sagging tile roof upon which several ravens have perched. A painted wooden sign hanging above the main entrance depicts a blue waterfall which you would be standing in front of the blue water in. I'm going to use one of my non-spell slot versions. For the duration, you can comprehend and verbally communicate with beasts. You can use any of the influence action skill options with them. Most beasts have little to say about topics that don't pertain to the survival or companionship, but at minimum, a beast can give you information about nearby locations monsters, including whatever it has perceived in the past day. Cool. So yeah, we're gonna... Talk to these guys. Are you using your thing to talk to me? Yeah, I'm using one of mine as well. I'm going to see both of my friends start, ah, to be birds, and I'm just going to start playing some ambience. No, maybe what's happening is Iridel can take control of the conversation, and I'll help translate for Jables. We can do it that way. That way we don't have to explain it all to him later. I'll just play a real-time translator with my ears. Okay, okay. I may interject if I need to. We'll just consider my usage of real-time translation. I continue my background music. You're sitting there like, yeah. It helps me concentrate. As you guys go to communicate with these ravens... It doesn't establish like a telepathic link. It just gives you the ability to speak in a manner that they understand. They are not going to say anything back to you guys. They are going to fly away. Damn. Why are you addressing them? Which direction do they fly? They fly in the north. Pretty much, yes. What was the name of the place that we're in front of that they were sitting? Blue Water. This looks delicious. It tastes a lot like weed. It's pretty good though. Too bad. I wish. Yeah, so y'all going in the blue on red? I assume so. That's where the Ravens were purged. And it's an inn, which Gray would probably just walk in without us asking questions. You know, this is true. I'll just go ahead and move on. Blue Water Inn. So. You guys are going to go into this room. So, in here, The damp cloaks hang from pegs in the entrance portico. The tavern is packed with tables and chairs with narrow paths meandering between them. A bar stretches along one wall under a balcony that can be reached by a wooden staircase that hangs the north wall. Another balcony overhangs an entrance to the east. All the windows are fitted with thick shutters and crossbars. Lanterns hanging above the bar and resting on the tables bathe the room in dull orange light and cast shadows upon the walls, most of which are adorned with wolf heads mounted on wooden plaques. You're gonna come in this pretty dimly lit, wolf head adorned...
- These people?
- Yes, so there are multiple. You'd see two very gruff-looking men sitting at a table together. There would be the barkeep, of course, behind the bar. There would be a lone man sitting by himself at one of these tables. In fact, I'll bust out some menus just to give a visual. Because why not? So we got you guys. We got the bar key right here. We have this man sitting by himself. We have these two guys over here who are drinking.
is just these guys. In fact, there are also a group of three. Ristanti or Ristana. Over here. They are not nearly as boisterous or talkative as the other Ristani that you're used to seeing. But they are drinking. Yes. I'm just making sure. You know? I'm making sure. They could be straight at Ristani. You know, things happen, right? It's not... Impossible. It's improper. It is a woman behind the bar. I'm definitely going to go talk to the bartender first. Okay. I'm going to go talk to the barkeep. What's everyone else doing? Do we need minis for our two guests? Ivan and Ismark maybe? Add them on the bar? Skeleton and whatever the fuck that guy's doing. Headless skeleton. He's seen some shit, guys. Headless skeleton can beat Ivan. Yeah. He's lost his mind. Ivan and Ismark are gonna, you know, order some drinks and go immediately sit down. You know, they kind of keep to themselves. They're looking around. They're seeing the Vistani. As you walk up to the bar, of course it is the human woman with dark skin attending you guys. She's just saying hello, hello. Is there anything that I notice about her that she would be particularly proud of or like is, you know, like jewelry or hairstyle or something that would like be a good icebreaker that she clearly cares about and presents well? Let's see. You know, she would seem like she is very proud. It's funny, I can't show you a picture of just her without showing you a picture of her entire family as well. I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter, but I mean, I'm just going to show you. So this is her, right here. So she would definitely take a hair compliment. That is, she puts time into that. So I break with that. I just walk up and I'm like, oh my god, I love your hair. Oh my god, I love your hair. Yes. Make me a persuasion check with a big. I definitely lied and read the wrong thing earlier. My persuasion is plus zero, not plus five. I think it made me five dead same girls, actually. Seven. Seven? But then she's going to say, thank you, thank you. How can I help you guys? Drinks? What's good to drink here? We have... We only have two wines. We have Purple Great Mash, which is our cheaper wine, and we have Red Dragon Fresh, which is our finer wine.
- Band with the cheap stuff?
- What's the point of telling the price difference?
This would be our first drink in a long time. So maybe we're still going to splurge a little. It might not even be that much. At least for the first round, you know, after you get a little bit drunk, you can go to the cheap stuff. So it is going to be one silver for the cheap stuff and two silvers for the... Oh, yeah, fuck yeah, I know. We'll go for the... So she would give you guys a pitcher. This one. And it costs us two silver. Well, two silver apiece. Two silver for the pitcher? Two silver for the pitcher? We get two pitchers. Two pitchers. I hope you guys don't mind me speaking for you. I mean, last time you did get drunk enough. I just have to wait for you to. Listen, it's been a hard life, okay? The wine gets me through. I'd like to talk to her. She seems very interesting. So I'd, you know, say that. I say she's interesting. With a little bit of a glow and sparkle in my eye, so it's clear that it's a positive intent. Of course, of course. Start out with getting into her before we start trying to ask about the town. I mean, if she'll let me get into her. Well, thank you. New guest. We're just traveling through. Is there anything that we should see while we're here? Anything that you should see? Well, I think you should make sure you're careful everywhere you go here in Barovia. Now, as far as what you should see... Question asked, or answer. There's not a lot of attractions here in Borovia. So then this is the place to be, I guess? If you want room and board, yes. We'll definitely be considering that. When you say be careful, everyone here, everywhere here in Barovia, what do you mean? The devil's straddler behind every corner, behind every bat, behind every wolf. I'll pipe up and say we've been hearing that a lot from everybody. It's always specifically Stratton that they're talking about. She is the bane of this land, the curse. As she's talking about Stratton, does anybody in the bar kind of change their, look up from their drinks or anything like that? Nat 20 plus 5. Nat 20 plus 6. Nat 20. I was like real happy and proud of my 15. He did good. Both of you were all me D100s. 48. Wow. So with yours, you're Adele, you're able to give one teammate advantage on this check. You want me to give it to Jables? I mean, not the next one? Not the next, this one? Just this current check is what that one is. I mean, yeah, might as well, because the only one who didn't get 20 is there. They get the poos. Perfecta. He's going to succeed on his next perception check. Negative? Alright, you try. And Spurber. Oh my god. But the two Nat 20s over there are going to see that the Bastani do shift. When Strahd is mentioned. But they look sullen. They don't look very friendly. What kind of good vibes are you getting from these and Stani? I mean, they're for Stani. If we walk over there at that second, you know, thing of wine, they'll probably loosen up a little bit. Okay. Maybe. I want to ask the bartender if she could use any live music in the joint. You're a musician. Hmm. Well, how well do you play? How well do I play? I chuckle and pull out my lute. I just play like a quick little warm-up tune as I start tuning it. Okay. Hit me with a performance check. That's a 24. Nice. So your warm-up tune is going to blow our mind. Okay. There's something where we can maybe earn some money maybe. Are you doing this one for free? I have no idea. My thought was to maybe earn some money with this. My niece is warming up right now, right? Nice warm-up. Use your good performance on the warm-up to maybe persuade for some pay. Thank you. She's going to say, oh, it is rather good. In fact, you are going to see her husband come out of the kitchen and pull him back up. - You haven't seen the kiddos yet.
- No.
- But he's gonna come out and he is going to address himself as, gosh, I don't know this by now. - Martico. - His name is Erwin.
My name is-- - Why does everyone name start with I?
- I thought you said you. Erwin. - That's what you said. - - I'm assuming. Errol and Mardukov. You're gonna come out and say hello. New people. What brings you here?
Happily ever after. I mean, when he says what brings you here, I'm just gonna start playing a song. And the song is just gonna be of our travels, how we got here. I'm gonna paraphrase some of it, because they don't need all of the specifics. Some people might freak out at some of it. That's discretion. And then just saying that we're traveling on our way to Crest. As I am mine. You're traveling to Crest, eh? To help Ivan. I don't know if I even really said that I was being targeted, you know, but, you know, sure. Well, if you're talking about going to Kresk, I mean, I guess you're right, yeah. He wouldn't know that necessarily. I guess, well, you're going to Kresk, eh? You see new travelers. What's the plan? Your adventures around here. The song's about the noble quest to Kresk? Mm-hmm, the noble quest to Kresk. These people don't seem like they're really friends of Strahd, but I know that the Stani are back there, so... I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. 21. Nat 1? On the perception, yeah. Wow. 21, Nat 1, 13. So, roll me a D100 for that Nat 1. I will. I will. These have been doing terrible for me right now, these D100s, but I'm still going to do it. You think he's mine? No, I've got to believe in him. I've got to find my pen. Where's my pen? You're all getting from the performance. So that's why you hit the nut one. That post-concert adrenaline rush, you're like, ooh. He's still, like, singing the ballad in his head, you know? No, I'm not. A nine? Oh my god. You'll have disadvantage on your next check of the story. What was this again? Perception? Yeah. Okay. Iridel is the only one that notices that there are several ravens perched, like, in the windows of this establishment. You're once again, like, seeing ravens here and there, there and here. Oh, wait, hold on. What did I get for my... My high roll on the D100, wasn't it an advantage on my next perception? I didn't do that. You pass. You auto-pass your next perception. Auto-pass. Okay, so I didn't matter what I rolled there. Good for remembering that. I was thinking, I was like, shit, I forgot what it was. So that just means I would get whatever. Okay, but yeah. Because my roll was nothing. You'd see a number of ravens perched up in the windows, like... - Up here and over here. You can see some like on these poles over here. This is making me remember the cards with the, uh, Neft of Ravens thing. May not necessarily be it, but this is one of the first places we've been where there's just been lots of ravens. That was the, uh, the history, knowledge of the ancient world. It helps us better understand the enemy. Are you going to tell that? I'm not going to tell that. This is just me, like, I'm thinking about this internally and I'm... I don't know, I may... Maybe I'll just briefly mention to these guys, and since they were there for the reading, maybe all I have to say is just history, the history card, and then they'll kind of clue in what I'm talking about. Okay. I'll say history card, Nest of Ravens, because this is making me think, I don't know, knowledge of the ancient, they're going to find the prize, help us better understand our enemy. Do we know... The heritage lineage of the bartender and... The Mardukovs? Yeah, so that we could tell from looking at them. Y'all would not have intimate knowledge of Barovian genealogy. Now are you asking, is Mark and Ivan? Would they know? I don't even know if they would know necessarily. It wouldn't be knowledge you're able to glean right here, right now. And right now, we've just been asked by this guy what we're doing, and then Jables played his song. Did I miss anything that happened after that? No, y'all have been sitting here asking. Well, after that performance, that's when I had you guys roll the perception. And then we were noticing the Raven when y'all were wondering if that was a connection to your card reading. Now we're musing. But they would be... Both attending the bar as you guys are kind of hanging out there drinking. Okay, but you did say that out loud. Yeah, but it wasn't like loud out loud. It was more like I'm turning to you guys and being like, hey, I'm trying not to make it super, yeah, because I don't want to just be talking about our card reading super out loud. But we are, if we're still sitting at the bar, I was just saying that to make sure you guys knew. There you will find your pride. Yeah. Yeah. It's the master of coin. I don't know, but... Anytime I see where we've got ravens involved, I'm going to be thinking about that. And I just thought about it because the ravens were hanging out here when we got here. And then now there's even more of them and they're just continually hanging around. We could ask them. Ravens are always here. Yeah, we might, yeah. Maybe mention it out loud. I'm saying notice there's a lot of ravens out here. Do we want to have Gray be the one who says it out loud since I just mentioned it to you guys? Maybe I will say it a little too loud then, actually. Maybe I'll do the Gray thing and say it a little too loud so the part-timer can hear. Do they or the Vishani react at all to his thought process there as he's communicating to us a little bit louder than you would normally communicate subtle things? Because I'm already aware of the ravens. Yeah. I'm like, he's telling me this, and I'm like, I'm watching for reactions of people as he's saying it. The Vistani aren't going to react to that. But the Barkeep, this husband and wife couple here, are going to kind of look at you guys and be like, the man's going to say, yes, there are usually many ravens here. They're a son of luck somewhat here at Barodia. I wouldn't say luck, but good fortune. Is that how I would say it? Can I like call my raven to my shoulder and have it just sit on my shoulder and not say anything about it? Very metal. And then I would ask like, you know, about the luck, you know, oh, a sign of good luck. What does that usually mean? Is it where they nest or where they point? Persuasion check. Okay. Why am I persuaded? It's a nine. A nine. So with a nine, are they going to say, hmm? The raven is sometimes thought of as like the guardian deity of Barovia. Before a lot of this, the raven queen was one of the gods of night that we worshipped. The two main gods of Barovia were the morning lord and the raven queen, day and night. So it's kind of like an old-school, baked-into-culture superstition. More or less. Are you seeking ravens or something? I kind of like, you know, pet my familiar and say ravens are always interesting to me. But we are looking for a place to nest. Trying to be subtle about leading towards the double entendre of raven's nests that I've picked up on from my
- Looking to nest. That's a very interesting way of asking for a room.
Okay. One silver neck for a room that can house all of you guys. Actually, it would be two silver because you have six people, actually five people with you. Two silver? Yeah, of course we'll take that. You know, what are the best rooms in the inn? We unfortunately have... We don't have the most lush accommodations, but I can give you decent rooms. Okay, we'll take them. He's going to look at you guys. You guys are absolutely fucking skirting over the fact. The raving thing is here. I hate you guys. What else are you going to do? Well, Iredil's starting to get a little tipsy, so she's going to go kind of wander around the bar. Actually, yes. Everyone give me a constitution statement here as we continue to drink the wine. Well, it's not the best wine you've ever had. It's not the worst wine you've ever had. I got 10. Four for me. 15. 15, 10, 4? Yeah. I accidentally clicked again. Everyone except Jables is drunk. Just good drunk or like? Just good drunk, yeah. Not like hammered drunk. Yeah. So I'm trying to convince people in this bar to drink the last of this. This. The jug we got because obviously we shouldn't be drinking too much more of it. And that's how Erdo gets what she's drunk. Reasonable, reasonable, reasonable. We could bet someone for something that I could drink my half of the jug faster than they could. This guy or one of those? I think one of those two guys. Anyone, yeah. Yeah. Do we want to talk about the status since we have these... I don't know. They were the only ones to react earlier, but actually maybe that's a good idea. Maybe we go over to them and try to be friendly with them now and see if they have anything to say to us after we...
- Miss Nine? - I don't know. - There's those two, there's two guys.
- I think Jables and I were betting these guys.
- It's up to Jables. - Those guys.
- That he could drink his half a jug faster than one of them could. And I'm like, you know, doing that thing where girls make you feel emasculated if you don't take the bet. That thing.
Interesting. I'm just saying if you make me roll, it should have advantage. That's all I'm saying because it is a tactic and it works. We're just having fun. We're just having fun? That's my thought. We've been traveling for a week. We're doing it for the love of the game? Yes, sir. That's where I'm at. Because we have another pitcher of wine that's water. We can get rid of this before we get poisoned, you know? Lord have fucking mercy. I'm also hoping that the shiny will lighten up a little bit when they see us just like not grilling people. This, this guy. So you'll be sitting next to this guy. Okay. So, as you walk up to these two very dour fellows, you're going to immediately offer them wine? No, you're saying you can drink more wine than they can? I'm going to say that I can chug my wine faster than them. We'll split the pitcher that I have brought to the table, and I'm going to chug my portion of it faster than they can. Let's chug the cocktail. Roll me a persuade nut. Just a straight charisma check. Straight charisma? You're not going to give me a charisma check? but it's like it could be better if I inspired myself inspiration. Okay. I was gonna say, can I help? Alright. That's a 22. Nice! Alright, with a 22. You know, these guys seem like they're kind of, uh... They seem some shit. They kind of have these looks in their eyes. They could use a drink. You know, they could use a drink. And upon you presenting this challenge, they're gonna kind of look Sideways at you guys, but they're going to say... Are you doing both of them? You're challenging both of them or one of them? Either one. Either one. I can fit more, yeah. Oh my god. Split it three ways and do it between the three of them. That way they get twice as the chance. The one you see that's named that you definitely can't see right there that's in the orange is gonna say, "What that won't do." And he's going to order three full pitchers. Beautiful. Beautiful. If you challenge me. That's how I answer. I giggle, spin around in a circle, and I like lay my hands on their shoulders and like get excited about it. You're the flirt? Get 'em amped. Especially when she's drinking. Okay. Make me a constitution saving throw as you begin to chug this entire pitcher of wine. That is a straight ten. Straight ten. Can I help him by cheering him on? Is that something I can do right now? Can I give him guidance? So you can give guidance. I would say you're able to help him emotionally, but you wouldn't be able to help him physically completely. Yeah. I mean, like literally like, so you're just like cheering him on because they're chugging. Can I do something like that? I mean, you can absolutely cheer him on. How does it help for that through? You wouldn't exactly roll for that. You just can't give him any kind of like benefit that way. But I can get the guidance. You can get some guidance. It's September 13th. You're still getting pretty drunk. Because you're consuming good amounts of it. They're also holding their own, but you can tell that it's an entire pitcher of wine. Give me one more Constitution saving throw. You're about halfway through it now. 18. 18, all right. You're able to hold your own pretty well. They're looking like they're definitely feeling it. So now y'all are 75% of the way done. Give me one more. I'm going to use a luck point for me. Can I give him guidance again? Guidance is a concentration. I'm like pumping his shoulders. It says touch buff for me. But it's at will. I'm just like, you know, encouraging you through the drink. I got a nat 20. A nat 20. Wow. Wow. Wow. Roll me a d100. And you're able to absolutely continue to chug this like a champ. They 57. Very nice. You'll have advantage the next time you make this roll, which is good because you can see them over there struggling. But make your last d20 roll as you finish this off. I get to save the left point that I was going to use. That'll be... Do I still have your guidance? Yes. Over there. Yeah. We're in it to win it. That'll be 521. 21, alright, not bad. So, you know, you are very intoxicated, but you're not quite blacked out. Now, this dude, and it's funny that you guys don't know their names, because you didn't ask their names, you just said their names. This guy right here is barely able to, like, function. So drunk right now. This guy is definitely in a much better spot. He's definitely very drunk though. Extremely drunk. Yes. So the competition's over. Jables has won. I think yes. Overall, they failed. How many times did you fail out of those four? One, I guess. Because you got very low for the first one. You got a 13. Yeah. And then it was a net 20, right? Yeah. 18. And then a 21. And then a 21? Mm-hmm. So you failed one and you passed three. They each failed three and they passed one. So they're very calm. When they're going to be at the table, they're like, ah! They're definitely not standing, they're sitting right now. Would you say anything else to him? Are you asking for more? He's going to look at his buddy and be like, I don't know. I giggle incessantly, sit down and say, good job, boys. I'm Iridel, by the way. I start just doing the victory lap around the bar. Just while they're introducing themselves and stuff, just make three left. Yep. As you introduce yourselves. Are you slurring the chorus from your song that you're singing? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, 100%. The one on the orange would introduce himself as Yevgeny, I think. And the other one, the one in more brown and green, is Zoldar.
- Pleasure to meet y'all.
Y'all live around here? Glad to say you look like big, strong hunters. Yeah. It's all fun and games until there's about six of us. We want to tell them about our encounter with the dire wolves earlier on our trip and impress the hell out of them if they're wolf hunters. Or would that actually maybe piss them off? Maybe enslave them? What the heck? Maybe we ask them if they've ever known anybody who could talk to the mold. If we're drunk, just saying things because they said they're goal finders. Are you saying that? It's great. What are you asking? I might say that. I might just say that. I was like, have you ever met anybody who could talk to animals? I'm just going to ask that question. Yip Guinea is going to say to you guys, well, many a traveler has tried. It's no use, though. The wolves are all under Strahd's control. Damn beasts. Doesn't matter how many I kill. Gray is going to say out loud, of course, again, it's always Strahd. Because that's what I said earlier at the bar. It always comes back to Strahd around here. Seems like he's quite literally the source of everything bad happening. She, right. Yep. That was not clarified to us at all. Today. I've got to keep you guys on the show. I kind of lean into Guinea and say, oh, so is there a lot of wolves around here? To goddamn many to count. We just killed a slew of them for this wolf head jamboree, but... Tell me more about the jamboree. Damn burgomaster. Throws festivals every week. Tries to tell people everything's all right. That's not alright. A festival every week? Gray's gonna say that out loud. Because I'm thinking back to that scaffolding, and that would explain why everybody was just not paying attention to the festival. No, no, those people were locked up in the stocks. Anyone who's locked up in the stocks is kept there for the Bergamast, until the Bergamast throws a board. Speak out against the festival. Brickmaster's not here now, so. Where is he? In his mansion. Oh, he's not here. Here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Duh. I'm done taking my victory lap and I hear them talking about this. I'm just going to come back. This burger master. I'd be like, is he like kind of like a bitch? Is he strong? What's his status? Persuasion. cough Nice. Nice. Burgomaster himself is not strong, but he's flanked always by his two hounds. They typically are the ones who fend off his animals. Hounds? Like physical hounds? Dogs? Yeah, like dogs. Four legs? Woof woof? Furry tail? Ears? Nose? Tongue? Claws? I think mastiffs is a better word. He's got two mastiffs. I love dogs. I'm sure you do, lady. What brings you here? Would anyone in the town miss that guy? It's hard to say. I don't know why he's Southern. Okay. It's hard to say. It's hard to say.
- This doesn't seem well liked. I don't know, I don't like it.
Reasonable. Reasonable. But, alas, what are we to do? We're trapped here anyway. Festivals are no. Madness are no. True. So you said all the wolves are under Strahd's control. Doesn't putting them on pikes at your front gate invite his wrath? Think? Not always. We also killed him for meat. Hmm. Are they also under Strahd's control? He... It's unclear. Honestly, it's unclear. They all act viciously regardless, so we usually kill them off-site. as with any other wild animal. Topic questions. Both of them at large if they have any kids. Casual small talk, you know. I don't know what else to talk to them about, but I don't feel like I should leave the table yet. Yeah, I'm trying to think. I'm just having questions. I mean, because they're the Wolf Hunters, I guess, yeah, but I just don't know. I mean, aside from completely changing the topic and then just asking them more about where we could go, because I know we were specifically talking about looking for a place to... and maybe acquire some gear and maybe buy some more rations to prep ourselves for going on a journey. We need to find some kind of good shop to go to. So maybe we can ask them about it since we're kind of good friends with them. Maybe they have some good places. Maybe they can help us get a discount. Maybe we can trade with one of them. We did at least get some rations from the bats. That's true, yeah. We're not up to 10 apiece, but we won't use any in town. We'll be able to eat food in town. I guess since we're staying here tonight, we can always talk to the bar owners to ask for shopping advice tomorrow. I don't know. See, that's why I said I might have lost for what else to talk about. I asked Jables to play us another ballad so we can dance. Because I'm just feeling dancing. Can you pull up the... Who's the performance for? Okay. I was just saying, I just wanted to, I couldn't remember what the layout of it was. Well, but it's more fun to do it your way. I was going to say, while they're doing this, because who have we been drinking with? The people at that table? And this is Ivan and Ismark. Okay, and that's Ivan and Ismark. Those two just saw me. I'm wondering what this guy over here is doing and what he's looking like and what's going on with him. I guess as they've been asking and talking questions and I haven't done anything. I use my inspiration. I can kind of see what his reaction deal is. You can't look on him. I'm going to do that. Oh, Jesus. I get a four. He's the only one that we've kind of ignored so far. I got a ten. Ten? A four. Four? This isn't your best. performance, but like it's not the worst yet. It's clear we're having fun, the people around are having fun. You are drunk at this point already. So there you go. And I'm rolling that perception check now and it's a nat 20. Wow. Traitomula 26. Traitomula 26. I'm doing a perception check on this one lone guy that's sitting over here that we've been kind of ignoring this whole time. So while you guys have been talking about this other stuff and doing that. He's been like staring at me like that. What is that guy's deal? I'm the kind of drunk that's like distracted and looking around and I probably looked around and was like, Since I'm getting the nat 20, that means I noticed something crazy off of him. So, I wouldn't exactly say something crazy, but you get a very good look at him. So, he's not really reacting too much, that's being said, but you're noticing that he's a very sharply dressed, dark-skinned half-elf. I pulled it through. A dark-skinned half-elf. Okay. He's got a very sharp, Uh, like a very sharp cut or sharply cut fade. Um, he looks to be about in his like late 40s, so he's looking a little older. Um. But he does stand out from the other patrons. So far, he's the only other individual that you've seen that isn't explicitly like a human. Yeah, that's right. And they were talking about... Yeah, and they were talking, I remember when we first showed up, that non-humans are kind of shunned and looked down upon and stuff, right? Yeah. That's something that they told us early on. So this guy is definitely a half-elf. Maybe... He's human to himself. Maybe I'm going to risk going over and attempting to chat to him. Since he's the only other non-human and I'm explicitly definitely not human. I mean, humanoid, but I'm definitely a non-human. Okay. So say that again, sorry? Yeah, I'm just going to go over there and talk to him. Just say I mentioned, like, hey, I noticed, like, hey, you're the first other non-human. non-human I've met so far. Yes, yes. I'm going to say this out. I mean, while we're here, the only other one that I've met, you're not noticing this person, so. I'm too busy spinning around this bar. Yeah, yeah. So you're not noticing this person. I'm noticing this person, and I'm going to go talk to him. So you're going to say hello, yes, yes. Come sit, come sit. I know it's... It's hard out here, not as a human. My name is Rick Tavio. Rick Tavio? I'm going to write this down. Is that half-elf? Yep, he's a dark-skinned half-elf. I'm a Carnival Ringmaster from a distant land. I've been trapped here for a moment. I've been staying at this inn. I spin by the bar and grab another jug of wine. I'm going to, being the blunt gray that I am, I'm going to explicitly just ask, like he says, he's been trapped here and staying at the inn. I'm going to say it like, have you been here since the whole area was trapped or did you guys randomly appear here one day? I'm going to basically say that. I can't word for it. No, you're good. No, I haven't been here since its inception. I found myself here accidentally a number of years ago, probably close to ten odd years ago. Ten years? Are you part of that carnival that's on the other side of town? You saw my wagon, yes. Yeah, we didn't see your wagon. I guess I don't know what else to say at this point. Is anybody else-- I think that is kind of what Gray would say. Yeah, we did see your wagon. Well, yeah, we did see your wagon. Yeah, I guess that's what I said. Yeah. It's like, are you guys actually doing-- Carnival stuff? --doing carnival stuff? Are you actually performing while you're here? Is there any-- When I can, absolutely, yes. Because why not? What else is there to live for, you know? I also like regaling people with my fantastic tales. It's something I'm somewhat known for, but hey. Well, we've got some time now if you've got a relatively short of one of your tales to tell. Ah, yes, yes. If it's interesting enough, I'll call my friends over. Maybe we can turn it into a song. Mmm. I might be willing to do that. And are you actually calling your two drunken buddies over? Yeah, I guess I might look over and see what they're doing specifically right now. Are they just... They're drinking and bullshitting with these other two guys that they... Wait, I was curious. Are you still playing music? Yeah, if you want to still play music. I was still dancing. If you're still dancing, I'll keep playing music, you know? Got that picture in my hand just ready to go. Maybe I'll invite... After looking over and seeing what they're doing over there, maybe I'll say, like, do you want to come over and join our table and tell your tale while our friends dance? Sure, sure, sure. So, all right, bring this guy over to the table then. Which table? The one with our baggage or the one that we went and got drunk? The one that you pulled. The one that Kaza heard drunk at. Oh, my God. That's awesome. Yeah, actually, I wonder what Ivan and Ismark are doing. Because, you know, they just kind of got their drinks and went off on their own early on, and we kind of forgot. I assume by this point this is normal to them. Yeah. I guess I just brought him over and we'll get one of his tales while you guys are doing your thing. That way everybody can hear it and maybe we'll get something interesting. So he's going to tell you guys a brief tale of a legendary vampire hunter that came and slayed another very notable vampire lord. He's going to refer to him as Nosferatu. He'll tell of the epic battle where, you know, Hunter barely survived, yet he did. And was then afterwards stricken thereafter with vampirism. But then continued on. Can you say that again? So it's like a brief tale of a legendary vampire hunter's conquests and ultimate downfall into vampirism himself. The story does Nosferatu win? No. No, so yeah, the vampire hunter kills him but becomes a vampire in the process is kind of what happens. So it probably gets bit before actually finishing him off. Yes. at the same time as. And clarification, because I want to clarify this. Does it say anything about a vampire hunter more specifically other than a vampire hunter? Does it say-- Like name him by name? Yeah, name him or give any other identifying information or-- Special weapons. Special weapons. The path taken. Gender. This guy's a pretty poor storyteller for a carnival. If it is a really old tale, then yes. I want to get another picture of the cheap stuff. All right, so now you each have a picture of the cheap stuff. As I take a small break in song. While I see them talking to a new friend, and I want to walk over to the Bastani table, and I want to pour myself a glass of wine, like, just put the pitcher down on the table with them, and be like, you guys got any requests? Be like, you're the only ones I haven't talked to in here. Be like, I'm going to keep playing music. It's like, we traveled with some Bastani previously, played music with them. What are you guys like? What are you guys like? As I drunkenly chug them up. Give me a persuasion with advantage. Say if you picked up any of the stock as long as they start playing one of those on there. I'll guide you. Don't touch my stock with some guidance. For that extra one, which is good. Don't matter. 24. 24? All right, that's pretty good. So you'll walk up, you know, you name the two things that Vasani do like the most, which is drinking and... things like playing music. So they're going to look at you and their demeanor is going to lighten a little bit and they're going to say, hmm. And they're going to play, they're going to begin to play, should I say, a more traditional Vistani tale or a Vistani song, which is very upbeat, very lively, and they're going to continue to drink your pitcher as well. I'm going to attempt to play along with them like I did at the end. Performance check. The campfire. I'm going to be drawn by the music. Of course. And swing on over there with my pitcher. Of course, of course. Squeal a little and say, you guys remind me so much of my friend Ezek and his family. And then continue to dance while they play. 16. 16. Okay. You perform very well. You're performing very well with them. Everyone's drinking. You do mention one of them by name, which makes sense. them perk up a little bit. But yeah. You are absolutely all over this fucking bar, which is hilarious. I also see that some of them have glasses that are half full and I fill them without them asking. I just don't even say anything. You're a delm. Okay. The pitcher's servant. Dig it. On occasion, of course. When I'm having a good time, everyone's having a good time. That's the goal. At some point, I'll, uh... I guess... I'll be continuing to talk to this other guy. And, uh, I'll ask him more about his actual background, like, before he got trapped here. Seeing as we're, again, the only two non-humans, aside from Ghirardelle, who is clearly more interested in the humans anyway. Is this true? He's going to look... More just to make cute humans than the... And drinks. Yeah, and the drinks. Oh my God. Yeah, so I'm more like inquiring about, you know, just back and streets. I'm also going to tie this into like if he's experienced any sort of... Because I know they mentioned that people look down if he's been living here for 10 years. Has there been anything specific that I might need to look out for as a non-human? I'm going to... Use this as a chance to get some... Or if maybe there's some specific good places to check out as a non-human. Persuasion. Persuasion. Persuasion's not very good, but... You gotta try, right? It's worth a try. You gotta try. And it's a not 20. I was gonna say something, but I figured that was what was gonna happen. Of course. So... You know, when you walk up, you're going to ask him truly what his backstory is. How much is he going to divorce you right here, right now? He's going to say, well-- Bye. I'm a car owner of sorts, but my backstory is in some way tragic. I don't have much to talk about it. Actually, it was great. Sorry, it was great. Can you ask him why he is really here? Yeah, it was more like-- yeah, what's-- Is he going to directly contradict himself because of your nat 20 years, is what I'm thinking? Before I reveal my true identity, I want to ask about your friend over there. And he's going to point at Iredel. Is she what she seems? I'll ask clarification, what do you mean by that? Because that's gray being the double. Do you mean, and I'll say, what do you mean by that? Do you mean half, and I'll do like a nod, like wink kind of thing, like half. Yes. I am going to not say anything immediately, and I'm going to look over at Iridel, and is she potentially distractible right now? I think she's extremely distracted. I'm quite distracted. I'm going to immediately, I'm not going to say anything, but I think I'm going to leave it up to Iridel to decide. to have this conversation. I'm trying to think about how I'm going to do this. Because I'm trying to think about how Gray would do this. Because I don't know that I want to necessarily just like say this out loud because I know it's a sensitive thing around here. you I mean, you can clearly tell that I have no idea what's going on. Yeah. So. I assume by this point we've finished the picture that I have over there with the Vistani. We have between all five of you guys, yes, both pictures. So have they said anything that makes us feel more kinly, more like anything that would trigger me to feel a certain way or say something? You know, they're not really talking a lot. They are playing music and they are singing a lot. Are you trying to talk to them about something specific? No, I'm just, you know, bar chatting for the moment. No, they seem pretty average. You know, they spend a lot of their time here just drinking. I think what Gray will say is I may understand what's happening. I'll just say it was like she's also not human, but as far as I can tell, Just like me, just a regular non-human. And I think I'll leave it at that, and then we'll see what it says for now. Because I was like, what do you mean, like half? Because I could have just been saying half. What's your other half again? ASMR. ASMR. Basically half celestial, half dead. Yeah, so I'll just... Half and half. Yeah, so I'll... Kind of a weird combo. Yeah, so I'll just say... I'll just say, yeah, just another... non-human like us and I'll leave it at that and see what see what this person says before because I know and when I've looked over at Iredell I may have attempted to get eye contact I don't know yeah first after check she's gonna be one or two we'll see that might be your nat 20 right here nat 20 plus five that's crazy it was So you're going to notice that I was looking over at you as this guy said this, and I'm getting chills down my spine. My ears are burning. Exactly. You're like, oh, they're talking about me. You would absolutely be able to hear this segment of the conversation about you. 89. 89. 69 would have been better, but, you know, I'll take it. I know, I know. Right there. Yeah, I know. It's looking right at me. So is my perception now for the entire bar, am I like fully hyper aware of everything that's going on in the bar? In this instance, yes. And because my entry for that doesn't apply to this, I'll give you the inspiration. I'll take that. I'll take that. It means I get another one tonight. I was wondering if this operated like the D20s where like every side adds up to one on one. It does? That's how it's numbered, yeah. It's for the D20 each, opposite sides out of the 21. It depends on the die, though. Some people will print them differently. Hmm. That's interesting. I have a famous member make me that, actually. All of my pink chairbosses. That's pretty good. It makes sense that she made that particular. The ones that I most commonly find that don't are the ones that are used for, like, life counters. Yeah, the ones for magic. I don't know if I like that. I mean, I... You have to kind of count down and... Right, so you can roll it around. But I heard that there's... People that have found the ultimate algorithm for printing the faces to have it be truly as close to random as humanly possible. And it's not that typical one. Interesting. Anyway, so back to my hyper-perception awareness that is somehow unnaturally triggered. At this moment, you are... It's like you locked eye contact with me as I was talking about. Maybe a little bit of a flicker of anger in my eye that you're talking about me like that when I'm trying to pretend to be a human. Or at least like an ASMR. You know that she's half, I would have looked over and then been like, whatever. So yeah. What would Iridell do if you picked up on that? So run me through exactly what stuff I would have picked up on. So you would have heard out of the corner of your ear, like, what is Iridel? What is your friend? And then you would have heard Gray say, or... Yeah, because he said, is your friend what... They appear to be. Yes. You would have heard everything after that point. And then I said, oh, you mean half? And then that's all I would have said. But that's around the time that we would have made eye contact. Okay. So that would definitely make your adult pretty angry that it's being talked about in public without... I would have continued, yeah, another, I would have continued saying, like I said, I would have played it safe. I was like, oh, yeah, just another non-human. I would move as quick as possible while he's saying whatever he's saying and shut him up. Oh, yeah, because I would, I would. It's a drug brain. It's a drug brain. We've got to be careful. Just beeline speed move. I am ending that conversation as quickly as I possibly can. He's going to say. Well, what? I thought you were having a good time over there. I was. What do you want? What do I want? Yes. Question that was asked, but questions. What was your question? All questions, no answers. God, bitch, I'm so hot. What are you accusing me of being? Yeah, because you were about to, I forget, what were you about to divulge before you asked the question? You had asked him his true origin, how he got here. Yeah, and I got the nat 20, that's right. And he asked, that's when he pressed the issue about what Iridell was. But, uh... Are you not a vampire? Not technically. Not technically. Why do you ask? Do I see this happening at all while I'm playing my music with the son? It would have been very noticeable, the reaction of like, Iridil flying across the room and like, I guess putting her hand over Grey's mouth. You know, that might have caught your eye. Even as you're drinking and playing. I'm sorry for getting into trouble. It's helped a couple of times. It's a hit or miss thing, and I'll be getting better as we go, because that's the whole point. I'd say I'm not a slave of Strahd, if that's what you're asking. I've always been a vampire. I will not be continuing this conversation in a public place. Fair. Fair? I don't even know you. I don't know your name. I don't know anything about you. I'm very sensitive. I know your friend, though. He nods to Gray. Okay. Well, for the last, like, three minutes, I've known your friend, but... That's not how they said it. All of you would have this conversation there. It's a little forward, sir. As this is all happening, if my hand is still covered, I'm just going to be mumbling, sorry. I pat him on the head. He doesn't feel too bad about it. But I don't move my hand. It is still over his mouth. I signal to Jables. Because, you know, we need it. I assume Jables is picking up on most of this. Like, you guys are in a bar, of course. Vistani, I'm looking at you guys like... I'm going to have to start, like, playing myself out. Like, as I'm talking to the one next to me, I'm going to be like, I can't take my friends anywhere, man. I would insist that we go to our room instead of his. You guys would go up a floor. I'll let the Vistani keep my pitcher of wine. They will accept it, of course, graciously. Bye bye. So he is going to take you up to the second floor of this establishment. I'm not sure exactly where you guys would be. See which ones are you? It's these three, right? This one, make sure. This guy. The rest of these. Did our two people stay down there? Oh, yeah. Because we're going to our room, right? Yeah. Yes, in fact, this is not the exact right spot. Didn't we get two rooms? We did get two rooms. I would assume they would follow us. Yeah, I believe it. I mean, yeah. They're relying on us to live right now, so they're probably not letting us out of their sight, I would guess. It was these two guys. If they could avoid it. Let me know if I'm off base on that, Grace. No, yeah, they wouldn't be too keen on y'all just being like, bye. Hey, fuck you guys. I mean, they're in the inn. They are in the inn. I'm way too focused on the guy that just called me a vampire in public. Reasonable, right? Reasonable. But, uh... But he's technically not a vampire. Right. Wait, he called me a vampire. Dan Pierre is not a vampire. No. It's half. It's more like potato tomato. I said not technically, though. When the question was asked. You know I'm right. No. You know I'm right. You prepared tomato and potato. I don't acknowledge this. Wait, wait, wait. If you don't acknowledge that it's different, does that mean that I get the speed bonus now? No. No. My God. Okay. So you guys go up here. And you're all in this room. Except Ivan and Ismark. Did you guys leave him? Both of them? That's what we were saying. They probably wouldn't like to just be left. That's what we were talking about. So they would be with you guys. Especially since we were going to our room. And he would say, uh, so. So I'm not a vampire. You keep going around that V word, bro. What makes you think, one, that I am, and two, that you can just say that anywhere you want to? Give me a perception check with advantage as you start kind of like laying into it a little bit, freaking so public about it. I give myself guidance. Touch yourself. Touch yourself. Touch yourself. If not, this should help. 17. With the 17, you, you know, you're really taking a good look at him now. And you're able to tell that there's part of his A message right now that is like a magical illusion. A magical illusion. So the way that he is presenting himself is elusatory. Yes. What portion? Like the whole outer elf thing? It's hard for you to tell exactly, but you're just able to tell at least some parts about his clothes, some parts about his face. There's a few things that are like, you can tell they're illusions. Okay, so after realizing that, I kind of pause and then ask, and what are you? That's like part of the... He is going to drop... - As she moves that around the map.
- It is illusion. - Oh, okay. - And you can tell that he is also a Dan Pier. - Oh, shit.
- It immediately makes me relax a little bit. But it also makes me a little bit more angry because he should know better than to just say that in a crowded room and I say that to him without necessarily acknowledging that I have now identified that he's a Dan Pier.
Yeah, much more interesting than I thought it would when I decided to go over and talk to this one random guy in the corner. It's always the one random guy in the corner, though. Yeah, that's where Aragorn was. We had all the groups in the bar. We did. I think we did it pretty effectively, too. Pretty organically. You know, just took a little, took some drinks, man. That's all you need. Maybe if those other two dudes could, like, you know, have their bitches and their hoes in the council hall, we could have had a little more fun. I was ready to use my own hands to kill poison. I was about to say, they were pretty laser-focused on just the wolves, though. It seemed a little bit boring after a while. Really? Yeah. I got more than very good. Am I supposed to ignore the file man? Yes. What file? What file are you talking about? AI used to be so shit at letters. That sign is actually really impressive. It did that on a film. Lady Dagger did ring bad people for a question. It's fully legible, spelled, made sense. Did you use ChatGPT for this one? I did. It's so good right now. I know. I just threw it in there. I'm like, made Blade look like a rogue from D&D. Before we really get into this, I gotta take a bathroom. I could use a fiber as well. Yes. memes in these campaigns? There's memes. - Got those roses, this is Jonathan the roses. We've been happy, I used to go dark in there because it's also really fast.
- I just don't think about the next fall this year.
Oh, and just buy the tortillas. That's a good idea. I struggle a little bit with trying to figure out the frontier teeth for those ones because Richard likes to see them a little bit more clear, which would not be a medium. Yes, exactly. I would basically use it like a peanut paste. An unleavened bread without peas. Because it's super cheap and it's like a dozen of them, so there's so many of them. So you just buy it. Unleavened is better. Buy it, throw it in your fridge. Breads are better for you guys or you do sell them. It's hard to go to town for stuff like that. My nephew's over at the embassy. And he's allergic to heat and rancid. So it's not a good option. It cuts out a bunch of it. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the weirdest thing. Allergic to peanuts. Peas, peas now. Peas, peanuts, not peanuts. Yeah, they're famous for jams. So you can't do peas, beans. Beans, cashews. There's a lot of stuff. Lima beans, all the lagoons. You should do the other things as well. But that would count better around $10. His allergist had asked my sister at one point, he was like, what are you feeding this kid? Because I had some other people asking what they could feed their kids, and I got no fucking clue what you're feeding them. Oh, because he was meeting nutritional requirements. Yeah. So her answer was what eggs? I mean, what could you have eggs? A lot of chicken. A lot of grilled chicken. Don't have fresh chicken. No, we don't. I've been having pain for some old men's arthritis. So you start looking at it all the time. I read and read and read. I told somebody, I said, dude, my husband was a diabetic. you Thank you. I'm getting off topic here, but we've come a long way with all that. So what I figured out I was not doing was starving myself for all this testing. - Have I met a dampier before? Have you? I feel like I have. Okay. Was your mother a dampier as well? My mother was human. My mother was human. What? What? Nothing. It's time. Also, what do my contacts get me? It says to ask. Have you contacted them? No, but if I do, what is it? Do I have to? Okay. crying Can I do that anytime? I mean, right now we're in a group in front of people and stuff. It's not like... I think it is something you can do over your long rests. If you're doing your watch, if you want to take time to commune with your contacts, you could do that. Now I'd be making you have a religion role, I think would be the most appropriate for that. And see if you could establish the connection and see if you can get any guidance from them. What's up, Definitely Not Blame? It is crazy to see, like, actual words. Yeah. It's so good. It upset me how good it was just right off the rip. Yeah. One prompt, and then you're like, okay, like, make this small adjustment. Make it darker, more noir. But, like, it hit the aesthetic I was going for. Perfectly. His blade is already black, gothic, vampire hunter, bam, done. Rogue, fantasy, done. Easy peasy. And then that shit in the background, like, just kind of cherry on top there, bleeding dagger. I almost, like, changed one of the fucking... Bleeding fucking dagger, I'm not even kidding. I thought about it. That would be great. I should have followed through with that, but... You have the power. I do. You ultimately do. Good drinks, bad people, and sequestration. And we're fucking horny. Life of the end. I'm just getting stung like I shouldn't be. These two are very fucking tasty. Very tasty. I feel like I finished several. Oh shit! Don't smack that sugar. Such a good video. Series of videos? You know, something like that. I only ever see it in the compilation of all of them. - It had to have started somewhere. I'm feeling one more. I am so hungry today. Hell yeah. Tamales here. Fajitas are awesome. The food was delicious, by the way. The chicken was amazing. Richard complimented me, too. The beef is excellent. He likes the legume. I have. I've learned. That's what happens. Thank you. Thank you. But... So... He just dropped his form to reveal his true garb, his true face. And the fact that he's also a damp ear. Okay. Is he actually a half-elf or was that part of the disguise? He's not a half-elf. That was part of the disguise. Okay. But he's like a real vampire, like half human. Yes, he's half human, half vampire. He's like, well... Well, you should know better than to say something about that in public. I figured it was the best way to get to the point quickly with your crew. I saw you guys and I suspected as much. My name is not Rick Tavio. It is actually Blade, and he will introduce himself as Blade. I snicker when I hear Blade. I'm sure you do. Well, Blade... What are you looking for? I have come here to slay the vampire scrub. I am a vampire hunter myself, which you could probably have deduced from the garb and the sharp fucking haircut. Look at this. And hearing that he's a vampire hunter, I kind of bristle and clarify, well, I'm not a vampire. I am so. But it seems your other half is just much more interesting. I kind of look at the room at large to see how people are reacting to this information because I don't generally share it. Didn't Ismark and Ivan already know? Did they? I'm pretty sure they found out in the Burgermaster Mansion. Right, and they just didn't react about it. Yeah, they kind of took it at face value. Okay. Well, they were a little shocked to see him change and also be a half-vampire. They're like, "Vampire? We're fucked! We're fucked!" And they're gonna have like a quiet one-on-one with each other. "We're gonna die!" "We're gonna die!" But you know, other than that, they're pretty chill. Yeah, I couldn't remember if they had known or not. I distinctly remember a little bit of bullshitting and a few high rolls as well. Me being gray, I might just say something dumb out loud about, oh, so you're not even actually half elf? I'm just going to say that out loud because that's me and I'm going to be disappointed that he's not half elf gnome or something like that. Is vampire not enough to impress you? Wow, wow, that is good. And just because couldn't I also, couldn't I be like, Half vampire, half elf. Is vampire like a whole race or is it something you can become and then you're half? I guess that's my question. Or is it something different then? So, damp here is it's implied that like Blade, for example, I guess his mother was bitten while he was pregnant with her. So it would be more or less like... A blood thing. It became that before you were at inception. Either it can be the... Sometimes it's one parent is... Iridel was also born as Dampir, right? Yes. Iridel's mother was a vampire and his father was a selection. Yeah, I mean... It happens in a variety of ways. Typically, ones that are created by another powerful vampire, like vampire spawn. Dampir are more like shenanigans happening. Other kind of shenanigans. But I was also born this way. Well, I kind of heartily say, well, you got our attention. What did you want? I see what your motives are here in this town. It brings me here. I see you here with two people from the other town of Barovia. I look at them, roll my eyes, and say, well, we're helping them get to another town. Didn't we sing the whole, was this the bar that we just sang, that whole thing about the quest to Christ? I'm just not listening. It's just funny. Gray's going to say, like, you didn't hear our song about the question. Currently, I'm trying to figure out the identities of some were-ratons I know are in this town. Were-ratons? I also know some Vistani, like the ones in particular that you were sitting with, Serves, Strahd, and Arge's spies. Yeah, they're pretty, they could be sketched, but they like to join the party. Well, we'll see. Which would be useful. What do were-ravens have to do with Strahd? You said you're trying to kill him. Her. The were-ravens are also opposing Strahd, actually. So you're looking for allies. Yes. Jinx. I don't know much. People are usually very secretive around here, and if you gain too much attention, Strahd usually strikes you down, so... I'm quietly collecting information. I do know that the Barkey's Irwin Markov is a trick. That's why I accosted your group, because it seems as though you are also wishing to not die by this vampire's hand, trapped in his realm, cursed forever to reincarnate. I would assume, but maybe I'm wrong. No, you're not wrong. You got that? You didn't even listen to my song. Me being gray, I'm once again going to out loud just mention our history card again. And knowledge of the ancient will help better understand. I may almost say think about everything about our history card. The Nest of Ravens. Master of Coin. Have you brought that up to the owner of this establishment? Not the owner of the establishment. I think you should. He seems like a good person to ask about that. Cool. All right, so now we'll get to asking. Well, how do you not know if you know he's a good person to talk to about it? I suspect because I always see Ravens around here. He's also very secretive. But so far he's been trustworthy. I assume it's like a werewolf or a raven. So it's someone who's been infected by lycanthropy that essentially will have them either take a human form, they can turn into like individual ravens or they can take like a hybrid form which makes them kind of like bird people bird person they can take multiple forms much like wolves can take like a bipedal wolf form and then a regular wolf form okay so it's fucked up shit around here but i know the were ravens are good at these And they're good. I mean, they're opposing straw. That does make sense in a more sense. Yeah. Well, I'm glad I, being gray, just like, bring that up, mention that on the show. So I'll have to remember to talk to the owner in the morning, I guess, after we're done with, after we've slept and shit. Do we have anything else to ask? Do I have anything else to say? Do I have anything else to ask? Is there anything about His, like, personage that I would notice to be, you know, particularly interesting while he's talking about being cryptic about having allies to oppose Strahd while just outright saying, I oppose Strahd. This guy's a little sketchy. So you're trying to, like, make sure he's, like, above board with what he's saying? Give me an insight check. And so. This is my wisdom modifier? Yep. 14. 14's not bad. You sense sincerity in what he's saying, in his description of himself. He's not hiding anything from you. So, you're seeing that, like, unlike in this picture, he's a little bit older. So I think he's starting to, like, in your mind, you're kind of feeling that he's weighing his options. Because he's no longer in his prime. In order to take out an enemy like this, he will have to have help. He's kind of like an old man. It would make him an old man. I also thought this was exceptional. He does have a bit more grain. I mean, you know, Blade would look like this at, you know, 110. You know? Yes. But that's what you get more from this plate. I would tell him that I like your style, Blade, and that I definitely want to take down Strahd as well. Good. It's going to get these people to cry. Yep. Yep. You have to gain more power as well. More allies. I don't know if you've seen that bish, but intimidating is a word. Yeah. I try to avoid her at all costs. You don't say. She usually likes to lurk out the roads to her castle. I'm going to be a little bit more discreet this time, and I'm going to give up. I'm going to give up. I'm gonna get both Eerie and Jable's looks and back and forth. Are we gonna talk about the thing on the way here? The thing? Are we gonna talk about the meeting? Well, I mean, he pretty much just said that he knows that she patrols her road. Yeah, I was just saying, like, are we gonna just, like, straight out say that we got face-to-face? Isaac and Ivan are... What's his name? Ivan and... They're here. They're listening. They're listening. No input? They don't have any input? And overall, if you're going to look at them and ask for their input, Ismark is going to pipe up and say... I would directly oppose Strahd. I have little power myself. And my brother, of course, is being targeted by him, and I think we'll likely perish upon meeting Strahd again, or her. I won't stop you in any of your plans. As long as you take us to Crest, you know, you're free to do whatever you wish, of course. But we don't want to really dally too much on other things. Well, we're just resting here. That's what I figured, but if you're asking my two cents, I mean, yeah, strut sucks. Take it down. I wish I had the power to do so myself, but I'm merely a human man. Put yourself to the light, you know, just lay them down. This is the way. I've never seen the light once in my entire life. Not through the skies of Barovia. I'm trying to think if there's anything I can see. He's going to say, I'm going to continue to gather information on this panel under the guise of Rick Tavio, keeping them out. If you're gonna stay here, we'll know where to find you. Yes. Yeah, well, I guess... Because it would be nice to have help with that guy. Oh, yeah. Gal. Thing. Seems like you. Entity. Entity. I say all of those things like that in a row. Paint the picture. Basically making good lists for on our way back here next time. How do you feel about HAGs? Poorly. Would you be down for some... If you help us clear out some HAGs, we might be able to establish a small little forward base for an actual attack. We'll be back after Cresk. Persuasion. Because you did ask. Well, I mean, I was asking about the HAGs. But he did ask specifically, can you come with us? I was going to say, if you help us. I'm saying like we're over talking about in the context of fighting strong. Are you going to try to assist him? I'll give him guidance. Guidance? I mean, we are, I am still drunk, I'm assuming. This hasn't worn off. And that is A. Plus a D4. A plus a D4. And we are due in, let's say... 12 then. 12 overall? Yeah. That's not terrible. He's going to look at you guys and say, hang. Is that our ending windmill? That's our windmill. I produced the deed. We have rights to it and we could use it as a forward base. It's a safe house for those of us that want to. It's right there on the path to Shrouds Castle. And we get the added bonus of fucking up some hags, brother. Yeah. And taking back our windmills. I'm just being forward-thinking and also drunk. We're all on board. He's going to say, here, here, look. We'll be back to you on a panther now, you know? Yeah. I would be willing to assist you guys if you help me help the owner of this establishment. Wine? I mean, wine is the only alcohol these people have and it is actually the lifeblood of Barovia. Some people's reasons for living in this hell. - This one's like, "I like it so much." - Recently, well, Barovia gets all of its wine from just one place, the Wizard of the Wines, which is right down the road, not far from Crest, which is also where you're going. The owner of this establishment doesn't say anything, but he's getting very low and the last several shipments haven't arrived. If you would help him out and accept his or talk to him and extend your help to him to find the one, and I will accompany you to help fell those hags and the bone grabbers. It's in the windmill. Bone grinder. What the fuck is going in my windmill? Oh god. Um. Hey, wait. We'll be the hag grinder here in a fucking couple days. Oh, yeah. What do y'all say? So, like, what's the order of operations here? Go to Chris. Go to Chris. Talk to the store. Get a little info from him. Yeah, get a little info. And then go to the Wizard of the Wines, which I think is close to Chris. You'll be able to drop your compatriots off. Yeah, I figured drop them off at Chris. And then look into what's happening there at the wine vineyard. Mm-hmm. If you're able to procure some barrels and bring it back. Because then, yeah, we hit the wine, come back, we'll have completed that, and then we can take Blade to kill the hags. And then we'll have a good little foundation to see what our next step could be. See what he's learned from any of the were-ravens. And that'll be, yeah. I'm sure we'll figure out something in between there as well, like while we're at Crest or something. Yeah, and whatever we learn from the bar owner once we talk to them more about the Raven and Were-Raven situation. It seems like, it's basically sounding like he's heavily involved with the Were-Ravens and maybe one or something. So, uh... I mean, kind of accept. Yeah. That's general acceptance. He's gonna hold out his hand to Irdil, so... Makes it satellite, yes? Yeah, I shake his hand. You shake his hand? Excellent. Somewhat reluctantly, but... Actually, before we... Before we... Settle down for the night... Blade, since you've been in this town for a while, and you've been gathering information, you got any good tips on where we could... Unload some of our wares, get some gold... make some other purchases, get ourselves stocked up for the road on the way out. One of the worst parts about Barovia is the lack of proper stocking. The people are used to making everything that they have here, all the clothes, the food, the wares, the furniture, everything is made by another Barovian. Anyone ever do anything about postage? There might be somewhere... Those even are extremely rare, given our lack of ingredients. No one's ever found any alternatives or replacements? Not really. Not really anyone who gained even a moniker of power was usually killed by Strahd pretty quickly. So it's kind of hard to get like a... It's kind of... It's hard for the people of Barovia to get a foothold here ever. They usually live and die in squalor and fear. Yeah, for the last like 600 years or so. That's why we're here. That's why I'm here. Y'all are here for other reasons. You chose to come here? The slay this vampire, yes. It's my life's work. Anything else I can help you with? If not, I'm going to retire. Questions. He is going to. No one else has any questions. He's going to use disguise self on him again, himself again. Making himself look more like the half elf carnival employer that he was pretending to be. And he will leave to his quarters. I assume it's late. We're pretty drunk at this point. Do we just want to get a good long rest? Everybody go to sleep, wake up in the morning, talk to the bartender. Are we still going on for tonight, or do we want to call it at this long rest? We could. You are all going to level up once after forging an alliance with Glead. Nice. Manage character levels. Ooh. What is this? That's actually huge because you can increase your stats or you can choose a feat which gives you really cool bonuses and can also increase your stats a little bit. Okay, well there's a...okay, that's...I might need to look at some of these. So what's abilities for improvement? Okay. One to one or one to two? Yeah. Some feats let you add one point to like charisma, con, or charisma, wisdom, or intellect. And then strength, con. Fixed arity also, respectively, but depends on the feat you take. I could give myself Crossbow Expert and then I could actually make use of my Crossbow more, although I'm pretty sure it does all the same damage as my regular bow right now. Yeah, there's not really any difference between the two in terms of damage or anything. The short bow just has more range. I guess because it's one handed. It's not an origin feat, it's just general. But it's from that expansion or whatever. Heroes of Faerun? Is that an official 5e or is that more homebrew? Uh, it's a 5.5e just from that Faerun or whatever. It's a 2024. If it's official 5e then you're eating it. I pulled it from the 5.5e. Level 4+ spellfire. I have spellcaster. Who's spellcasting? I know, I had to look it up earlier. So I was like, what the hell is going on with this? That's cool. That's cool to know about that. There's a lot of new feats I need to take a look at. It was a new one to me as well. But I figured it could be very fucking useful around here. And more radiant damage as always. That is good. That is good. Potential to give myself. Oh, yeah. Look, is it fantastic? It's so good. It's so good. There's a couple of different ways I can get some cantrips and some more spells too, so I need to look at this a little bit. There's fey touched, and then there's a couple of different magic initiates. Those each could be two cantrips in one spoon. Wild shape turn into any form and then I have like the three specialized ones that I can use What's the limitation of it? Beast? Yeah, that's what I meant. Like any beast form. As long as it meets your Shiro requirements, you can be any beast form that you've seen. Okay. And now if you pick something from the list and we're wondering if you've seen it, I can like have you make a roll if it's something exotic, but if it's like a common creature, we can say that you've seen or had experience with most common creatures. Okay. So, like, if I was, like, to turn into a raven, I could do that? Absolutely. Actually, you can't turn into things that can fly until later. There's, like, a limit on the fly. Because you can be CRs that can... I do remember seeing something about that, so that makes sense. It's, like, level 8 or something like that? Exactly. But you can be something similar that can't fly. I might be doing Shadow Touched because it gives me invisibility automatically and it's always prepared and I can use it without expending a spell slot. That's dang. So, yeah, I may be doing that one. We'll see because there's also Sharpshooter that I'm looking at right now too. There's quite a few good ones. Yeah, quite a few. Are you dealing with cover? Yeah. Okay. Because I would get bypass cover if I take sharp sugar. Which sounds opium as hell. Cover just raises your AC, makes it harder to hit you. Ignores half and three quarters cover. Disadvantage with range attacks within five feet. And no disadvantage on long shots. Combat was brief and deadly this time. Is that the little shithead? Sure is. There's no kidding what you're doing, there's no kidding. A little menace. He's a menace to society. That you can call? Little slut. Proficiency in all three skills. There's so much shit I could get for you. Missed it, kiddo. Spell sniper. That one's really good. He's got water, right? Of course you do. You got water, right, Miss Betty? you Sounds like he does. - I'm telepathic. That would be fun. Trying to go with Trying to go with like the sneaky things I think I'm still stuck on either too many sharpshooters shadow touch Disadvantage in bypassing cover. Increase my dexterity by one. or Shadow Touched and I increase my Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma by one. Choose one level one spell from the Illusion or Necromancy school. Always have that spell and Invisibility prepared. You can cast each without expending a spell slot. Once I cast either one this way, I can't cast that particular spell again until long rest. So basically I get both of those, and there are just no spell slots. You can use them once until long rest. I can also use them for spell slots as well. And the... Nice. I think I'm doing shadow touched. Intelligence, wisdom, or charisma. Which one? You know what? I've been working hard, paying attention to Jables. Specifically to increase my charisma, I'm going to go ahead and increase my charisma so it's not a minus one on me. It'll at least be a zero. Not a bad thing to do. You guys are doing a lot of roleplaying and you're asking a lot of abrupt questions, so... Yeah. Let's always give that a little bit more in the right hand there. It would be either it was intelligence or wisdom. Both of those are already pretty high for me. It's a 15 and a 14. My charisma is currently a nine. So I'm going to go ahead and make that a little bit better for me. I want to hit something with smite really, really bad. I can load something up real quick. I want to smite something so bad. It's going to get smitted. You're off the way because we're having to cancel next session. Unless you and Jabba want to play. Just the two of you. Think about it. You have two weeks. I could, uh, I could put you through some shit. You wanna see? Go ahead, what goes up? I'll just have you 1v1 Strahd a few times, you know? I'm not surprised. See how that goes? Builds morale. What time are you going to be home? Oh, it doesn't take me that long to get home. I do have to throw a carburetor on my lawnmower when I get there, but that's a half hour at most. You should use all that time to ready yourself. For what? For night rain, whenever you get out. Oh, okay. That last loss that we had before, it was like, what was it, days ago, is still bothering the fuck out of me. I'm tilted. Devastation. You know? I feel you. I feel you. There needs to be some sort of redemption there. Okay. I think... I specifically took this one to get the invisibility, but I could also take disguise self along with it. I'm thinking about doing that, because I could use both of those without using the spell slot, or also with using the spell slot. That would be nice. Did you level up, Irideal? Yeah. I did. It's either that or maybe it's the... I got the, uh... Poison damage and poison condition until the end of next turn. I'm gonna take this guy's self. inspiring leader nice with wisdom that's my choice hell yeah you got a few more prepared spells did you get more spell slots holy shit did i get any more spell slots i did i got one more level too hell yeah Same amount of spell slots, one more prepared spell, what the fuck, bro? You probably have like one or two more prepared spells as well. Increase your reputat. Who the fuck does that, people? How do I do that? Um, if you... I'm supposed to prepare one more level one spell. I'm actually trying to decide whether or not the sky's self will be worth it or not. I couldn't... And then prepare spells, yeah. So now you see you can learn over by the side. As long as you can press learn, you can prepare more spells. You probably have like one or two more. I know this video. I'd be able to use-- OK, actually, I'd have another attack I can use without taking a spell slot. I think that'd be pretty good. Maybe. I got some good ones. Yeah, there's a lot of reading. Always, always. I get another cantrip, it looks like, and three more prepared spells. Three more prepared spells, there you go. So they give you pretty decent amounts in the very beginning as you increase your different abilities. seems pretty freaking awesome to have. Thank you. Yeah, I'm still listening. We're doing Shadow Touched. That's a good one. That's a really good one. I'm getting invisibility, and then I'm also going to take... I'm on disguise self-erasing. I think I've probably seen the movie. My spellcasting ability modifier. How would I know that? Travis Dina. Spellcasting ability modifier. How would I know that? It's going to be whatever you're spellcasting. So what are you? Druid. Druid. Is yours wisdom then? Yeah. So it's wisdom plus proficiency. So what's your wisdom at? My wisdom is at plus five? You're twenty? Four plus four. I'm eighteen. Okay, yeah, so plus four and then plus two for proficiency, so your spell attack is plus six right now. Okay. Because then your DC is basically that same formula, but then you add eight. So is mine, I have 18 charisma, which is my spellcasting modifier. Yeah, the spellcasting modifier is just whatever stat is used for your spellcasting. Does it say that somewhere in here? Normally you choose it if it's not already designed by your classic, if you're doing spellcasting from a feat or something. Okay, yeah, I can probably just see it. I've got spellcasting third level, so... Like, for me, for my spellcasting, underneath it, it says, you know, spellcasting paladin, and then I can cast prepared level one paladin spells using charisma as my spellcasting ability. And I have to have a holy symbol. Which is my loot. Nowadays. Intelligence. OK, there we go. And a little further down the C, so intelligence. Mine's a 15, so it's a plus 2 on the top there. And then you also get a 2 from proficiency. Okay, so that explains when I'm looking over on mine, the buttons that I can click for like doing my fireball, it says plus four and then I go down to my dramatic orb, it also says plus four. So it's already taken that into account. Cool. Because once we hit level five, I think our efficiency goes up to either five or six. I can't decide. What do you guys think would be better for me to take? Disguise Self or another attack thing like Ray of Sickness? Because Ray of Sickness is 2d8s of poison damage, and then they have the poison condition until the end of the next turn. The damage increases by 1d8 with each spell slot level above 1. I'm a sucker for combat, but Disguise Self is also a good one. It's just... You can't make yourself bigger and stuff than you are. You can do one foot shorter or taller and that's it. And up here heavier or lighter. But you're like three foot something, right? Yeah, I'm short anyway, so that wouldn't make a huge amount of difference. I would still be like one. You could be three foot six. I'm sick of a nose. Fur bulk or something maybe. Child. Versus me trying to get that extra inch of it like. I mean, it would be useful to look like younger versions of different races because it would put people down on their guard. But yeah, whichever one you would, I think both have good uses. So it's kind of just whatever you feel like, you know? Just stick with the sky stuff, especially since for this one it's giving me the ability to do it without using spell slot if I need to. So it could just be a thing I use on offhand if need be. Cool. All right. So I'm sticking with that. So I now have invisibility. That's great. My fucking rolling trays in this whole time. I wonder, I'm like, where the fuck did I put it? It was over there just not being, you know, and then you watched me roll stuff into it. I didn't realize it. I sure fucking did though.
- Let me change this up here real quick in Deloach and see if I already have it. I've already had this enough. Yeah, I already had Disguise Self. What am I doing? I just didn't... I didn't see it in my list. I haven't had a chance to use it. Okay, so I'm definitely not taking Disguise Self. Why does it... I wish it didn't give me the option if I already had it, but it's still showing up in the list.
Nothing else seemed really interesting out of here, so I'm definitely taking Raid Superstitions. I just really wanted Raid Superstitions. Text Danny and Claude. Danny and Claude, what would you like to do? Please be ready, no bullshit. What spells did you pick? Moonbeam. Excellent. And Starry Wisp. Starry Wisp, okay. for that trace. Oh, very good. You read it, you know. Yes, I think that's yes. That's a whole lot of yes. Campaign for a while. Amelia and I were both Jewish and we used to just cast our moonbeams on top of each other. Combat would start, we'd look at each other and just, it's a double moonbeam. Yeah. The cool thing is, you know, if you take your action to move it, you can still do your second action as an end spell. Exactly. Yeah. It's one of the coolest things about spells like that. See, I can read. It's amazing what one does when they read, right? Yeah. It's astounding. It really is. I just couldn't pass up the free invisibility. With Marge, forgetting sneak attacks easily. It's good. Minor invisibility? I do believe so. I don't believe it's greater. No, it is too high. It looks like 4th. The creature you touch has the invisible condition until the spell ends. The spell ends early, immediately, after the target makes an attack roll, deals damage, or casts a spell. It's just regular invisibility. Which is less. You can target low. It's just invisibility and greater invisibility, isn't it? Yeah. Interesting. I can target an additional creature for each spell slot level above two. How do you tell the spell slot levels? Is that just what it says level up here? I think it says level one or something. Mine says level second, so this is two. So each level above two. So once I get to three, I would be able to take two targets. That's pretty nice. Sneak up with the dagger. One in the neck. So how does... For example, he goes invisible. How would I be able to see him as invisible if I, like, it's this, what is it called, innate perception or whatever? Passive perception? Exactly be able to see them. It really all depends when you go invisible. See invisible creatures and object. You can? Yeah. True sight under passive perception. You don't have true sight though. That's a kind of sight. Like blind sight, dark vision. You have dark vision, 60 feet of dark vision. Okay. It's like two sides. Oh, because it's here. Yeah. This is what it's based off of? Yeah, but there's a bunch of different other kind of sides. Passive insight, passive perception. That wouldn't necessarily help you see an invisible creature. That's like noticing things that are happening around you slowly. Okay. So just like you walk into a room and you just have a natural. Exactly. Could be what? Footprints? Footprints, traps. Residues. Yeah. Yeah. Secret doors and stuff like that. Yeah Yeah, it's confusing because it's in the descriptor area as if it's related. Yeah, let's say true sight fucking out Describing the ones that you have it just gives you all the potential ones that could Yeah, there's like blind sight trimmer since true sight Dark vision, what have you. Shit. And you get those through, like, character traits. Yeah. There's an epic move that gives true sight, which is one of the most normal ways of getting it. You get that at level 19. You could likely give yourself a feat to give yourself dark vision, what have you, tremor sense and, like, blind sight, or more, like, things you would find on creatures and monsters that have that kind of...
